Kohta Hates Running
We took our time navigating through the halls, attempting to just stay as quiet as possible, especially when there was a few small groups that we had encountered along our journey.1
Like right about now, for instance.
Standing in front of us, there was about twenty of the ugly fuckers that felt the need to unnecessarily hog up an entire hallway. Some of them just kept on walking into different lockers, which was due to the fact that they couldn't exactly see where they were going in the first place.
At the same time, we had already gone through all of the classrooms on this side of the hall in an attempt to search for any students that might have been left behind or were too badly injured to continue moving on their own.
To be honest, I wouldn't have been surprised if we actually did come across anyone. Considering the fact that the moment people began to run out of their designated classrooms, it had thrown everything else into disarray, as well as caused lot more bad than it did good. However, that's what you get with a younger crowd of people. They're impulsive and quick to act without actually giving what they're about to do any sort of thought beforehand.
God, I sound like an old man. I'm fairly certain that I have my own moments of stupidity as well. It's not like I'm perfect in every way.
The bad thing about a situation like this was that we couldn't really kill all of them without alerting at least a few of the rest that were standing nearby. However, I did have an idea...
I picked up a bloody shoe a few feet away from me before chucking it in the opposite direction, which could've possibly belonged to one of these undead people.
The distinct sound immediately caught the attention of the majority that were blocking us from continuing down the hallway, most of the small group shuffling their way to the area that the bloody shoe had fallen back down to the floor.
Rei, Kohta, and I kindly stepped out of their way as they all passed us without even realizing that we were right next to them. I smirked at my two followers, giving them both a cheesy grin before we all went over to the few stragglers that decided to not go with the pack.
For Kohta, there was three walking corpses fairly close to his position, which he easily took care of with a few well-placed shots directly to the head by the help of his modified nail gun.
I had around five of them that were pretty close to each other. However, with a weak tap of the crowbar to a locker, they started to walk in my direction. Circling around the small group, there was two that were a bit slower than the rest, and I used that to my advantage by quickly killing them with a hard swing on each of their softer than usual heads.
The other three zombies picked up on the sounds of their brutal deaths, quickly turning back around so that they could catch a good meal while I was trying to pull the crowbar out of the last ones broken skull.
Before they could actually grab onto me, I finally ripped it out of the zombies head before using that built up momentum to swing the crowbar across an undead's ugly face. The swing was strong enough to where it went straight through the zombie's cheek and up through it's mouth before coming out right below it's eyeball.
It dropped down to the floor fairly quickly and the other two didn't even pay it any mind, still attempting to grab onto me with outstretched arms. Ducking under a pair of hands that seemed to have lost a couple fingers, I maneuvered myself until one of them had their back turned to me.
Holding the crowbar with two hands, I reeled it back above my head before swinging it down directly onto the top of it's mushy brain. When it got stuck once again, I used a foot to push against it's back and the crowbar slipped out just fine as the reanimated person actually died this time around.
The last one lunged for me but I quickly took it out as well with a well-placed strike to the head, dropping it to the ground in no time at all.
I looked over at Rei to see how she was doing and witnessed her piercing the heads of two zombies that had attempted to eat her alive, which appeared to have ended badly for them. Just as I had given her a thumbs up, her eyes widened as she pointed towards my feet.
"It's still alive, Dante!"
Quickly turning my head to the floor, the third one that I had thought was dead from the horrific damage I had caused to it's face seemed to still have some life left within it's decomposing body. It was about to grab onto my leg but I smashed it's head in with my foot, which sent a bunch of brain matter everywhere.
Everyone sighed in relief at that, happy to know all of it went pretty smooth, but that didn't last for very long. The horde that I had distracted with a bloody shoe apparently heard Rei's cry of panic and were now walking down the hallway in our direction.
"Uh oh..." Kohta muttered, clinging onto his modified nail gun for his life.
I began running in the opposite direction, Rei and Kohta quickly following my lead, which is when I saw the flight of stairs heading down to the next level.
'I've got to find Saya before I get the fuck out of this place!'
--------------------------------------------------
Kohta was panting heavily by the time we had found a room to hold up in so that all of us could wait until the horde lost interest in us. I was sitting on top of a table with Rei placed in my lap, all three of us trying to catch a small break for a moment.
"I hate running..." He said, leaning against a wall in exhaustion.
The sight was comical, to say the least. It was like a lot of the simple things Kohta did were just naturally funny.
I chuckled to myself, pulling my girlfriend closer to me as I rested my head against her chest. Even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, a red tint appeared on her face as she secretly enjoyed the intimate embrace, the girl hugging my head as she combed her fingers through my hair.
In the position that we were sitting, I could see outside of a large window, which revealed a wide view of Tokonosu City. There were certain buildings emitting a black smoke, which couldn't have been good. All things considered, it really looked like everything just went to shit.
The undead outbreak was really here.
