Opening Rika's Locker
Night had truly fallen as the moon released a bright yet calming light down onto Japan. The neighborhood was quiet, the only sound within hearing range aside from the people residing inside Rika's house was the faint buzzing noise that a nearby street lamp kept making.0
However, the only one who could actually hear it was probably just me, considering that the street lamp was all the way down the road.
Wearing nothing but a towel, I walked out of the bathroom and into the living room where my ears perked up at the sound of a television playing a news station. It appeared to be showcasing certain sections of Japan that had been completely ruined due to the outbreak.
Pretty much the entirety of my group was relaxing on the couch aside from Saeko, who was most likely in the kitchen, and Kohta. I wasn't exactly sure where the big guy was at, though.
Saya had apparently heard my footsteps over the sound of the television, glancing over her shoulder to check out the source, which caused the pink haired girl to stop in her tracks once she saw me. Part of me knew the exact reason as to why she reacted that way, and yet I simply didn't care enough to do anything about it.
Plus, my little sister's reaction was pretty entertaining as her eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets, a subtle amount of drool appearing on the side of her lips. "Dante! W-Where are your clothes..."
That one simple outburst caused every female within my group that sat on the couch to snap their heads in my direction, the speed at which they did it concerning to say the least.
Miku let out a drawn-out whistle at the sight of my body, which was only somewhat covered by the towel wrapped around my waist. Her entire body seemed to turn in my direction after that, Miku's attention completely focused on me. "Someone's in great shape... my god!"
"Oh my... I think it's about time for your physical exam, mister! Hehe!" Shizuka giggled, her hand covering the fact that she licked her lips hungrily, eyeing the towel that barely concealed my dignity.
Rei couldn't help but gasp, her face turning a bright shade of red as she gaped at my well-developed form.
Apparently, their reactions had reached the kitchen because Saeko curiously walked in with a ladle in one hand, most likely about to use it for the purpose of making food. When her eyes inevitably landed on the source of their reactions, the ladle quickly dropped to the floor as she lost the ability to form a coherent sentence, instead her body froze completely as the purple haired girl just resorted to silently admiring the multitude of prominent muscles covering my adult-like physique.
While there was an amused smile residing on my face, I couldn't help but sigh in resignation at the situation I honestly put myself in. Instead of going directly to the bathroom, I should've grabbed a change of clothes before taking a shower in the first place. However, I couldn't lie... it did feel good to get such reactions just by wearing nothing but a towel.
--------------------------------------------------
Standing in the middle of the empty master bedroom, I dropped the towel that was wrapped around my waist and began to dress myself with a change of clothes. If any of them decided to question how I found clothes suited for a male inside of a woman's house, one who Shizuka told us never really had any men over at all, I'd just shrug my shoulders or something. There wasn't exactly anything that I'd be able to say, aside from the fact that Shizuka wouldn't be able to know everything that Rika did in her spare time, which could've possibly included having a secret relationship. It was probably a long shot but I didn't care enough to attempt a better excuse.
It honestly didn't hold that much importance anyways, considering it was just a new set of clothes that I was lucky enough to find. They had actually been stored within my ring, which also contained a ton of other clothes just for convenience sake. I didn't want it to become a situation where I needed to constantly buy more shit with each world I ended up in.
While there was most likely going to be a few worlds that were probably in a different time period or something, which would require me to wear the same thing in order to fit in better, I was hoping that wouldn't be the case for all of them.
Once I had finished putting on my new attire, I walked out onto the balcony and leaned up against the safety railing before breathing in the midnight air, which was cool to the touch as it breezed through my hair.
I'll probably just tell Saeko to forget about washing my school outfit, considering I was never really fond of it in the first place.
As I was looking at the bridge in the distance, which was near the west area of Tokonosu City, I heard someone walk up the stairs and into the master bedroom. Straightening back up, I turned around and saw Kohta eagerly rubbing his hands together, a grin on his face.
I raised an eyebrow in curiosity at his behavior, which he apparently noticed and decided to briefly explain. "That locker on the other side of the room... Shizuka told me it supposedly holds a couple of guns! Hehehe!"
Ah.
That definitely explains the grin only an insane person would have, which was currently on his face.
Kohta stopped in front of it as he noticed that the container was locked, quickly coming to the conclusion that it would take a while before he got it open if he tried to do everything by himself. Turning towards the guy that appeared to be much stronger than him, the grin turned a bit sheepish as he scratched the back of his head.
"Uh... do you mind helping me with this?"
Cracking a smile, I shrugged my shoulders and walked over to the big guy. "We're probably going to need a crowbar or something for this. I'm pretty sure there was one laying around somewhere downstairs. How about you go try and see if it's around while I attempt to get this thing open?"
Giving me a thumbs up, he quickly nodded before hurrying back down the stairs on a mission to find a crowbar. Once he was completely out of sight, I simply grabbed the handle before ripping the right side off of it's hinges, which allowed me to open the lock all the way.
My eyes immediately landed on the Armalite AR-10(T), Ithaca M-37 shotgun, Glock 19, and Smith and Wesson 442 that came into view once I had opened the locker. I decided to pull out the AR-10 first, admiring it's sleek design, which is when I heard Kohta finally return and make it back to the top of the staircase while breathing heavily. There was a crowbar in one of his hands as well but it was quickly discarded once he saw the beautiful firearm held within my palms.
"Holy fucking shi-"
I quickly tuned Kohta out right before he started mumbling to himself like a crazy person, breathing out a sigh as I held out the gun for him to take. In just a split-second, the gun had disappeared from my arms.
Apparently, that was enough to distract him from the fact that I had somehow opened the locker without any kind of tool whatsoever.
Taking a glance down at the bottom of the locker, there was a shit ton of ammunition for all of the firearms that had been inside. Sitting on the floor, I began the tedious process of setting everything out onto the carpet in an organized fashion.
Kohta's unusual arousal for guns increased even further once I brought out the three other firearms that had accompanied the AR-10. It was reminiscent of a child in a candy store... except all of the sweets had been replaced with dangerous weapons that could easily take someone's life away.
I was on the last few ammunition boxes when my eyes caught onto something that was hiding behind it all. My curiosity increasing, I quickly pulled out the rest before realizing what it truly was.
A black longbow still in mint condition, along with a large quiver of arrows that actually had broad point tips sat in the back of the locker, unfortunately collecting dust by lack of use over the years.
An excited grin overwhelmed whatever emotion I was feeling beforehand as I pulled out the longbow and broad point arrows out from the back of the locker.
The zombies will serve as great target practice later.
