An Unwanted Visitor
It was now the day after Yuriko and I's special reunion ceremony, the sun beaming down on anything it could reach with it's illuminating solar rays.0
After waking up while Yuriko was still asleep, I had quickly dressed myself in a new change of clothes before placing a gentle kiss on her forehead and leaving the room with silent footsteps.
Currently, I was walking down a very quiet hallway, having already made the decision to find a lowkey area to practice more on a specific ability that I wanted to become a bit better at using. I was still kind of horrible at manipulating my unique power to where I could just focus it in one part of my body. Although I could form a set of extremely sharp claws on each hand, or breathe fire like a literal dragon, I didn't think that was actually going to be good enough in the future. As a matter of fact, I had even tried using the Vulpimancer's incredible sensory perception without undergoing the required transformation.
It... didn't really go as planned, in all honesty. I had closed my eyes and just let my other senses take in the surrounding area. That's when I activated the partial transformation. It happened within an instant, amplifying all of my other senses to such an extreme degree that I ended up having a really bad sensory overload.
I decided to hold off on using that one for a while. At least until I knew how to handle it better.
However, it did teach me a valuable lesson.
Not every alien that I unlock is going to be advantageous to me all of the time. There's probably millions of different aliens just waiting to be unlocked, which brings up an interesting thought that has been stuck inside of my head for a few days now.
If it's that many of them... then surely there's going to be a lot that don't have anything to do with combat whatsoever. Honestly, I would be really confused if that was actually the case. There's no way in hell that every single alien is going to be like some kind of warrior, completely battle-oriented to fight as if they were a one man army or something.
Shaking myself out of those thoughts before I became too engrossed into the topic, I exited the backside of the mansion, which lead me to a nearby koi pond that was under a large shady tree. There was a few beautiful nishikigoi that continuously swam around within the spacious area but I didn't pay it much attention, instead I sat down in front of it in a seiza position. Taking a deep breath, I eventually decided on which alien that I wanted to try using as a partial transformation.
The Necrojek.
Within an instant, my eyes quickly changed from their normal hazel brown into a luminescent yet deathly pale green color, which obviously originated from my actual Necrojek alien form. Taking another deep breath, I slowly placed my hand onto the grass which surrounded me, and used one of the unique abilities that I had never gotten the chance to utilize last time.
If anyone were to look at my eyes right now, they would've immediately noticed that their luminescent glow had increased for just a second before reverting to 'normal'.
(Glowing eyes weren't actually very normal in this world, but I'm going to assume that you still understood what I meant.)
However, what I saw was much different.
Releasing a seemingly invisible wave of green energy in every direction, this ability let me sense the presence of any nearby undead creatures. The sonar-like ability continued to travel far and wide, eventually stopping once it hit about a one mile radius. I hadn't gotten any positive feedback from it even after the green wave of energy disappeared, which meant that there wasn't any zombies within a mile of my location. I automatically assumed that the more I trained the ability, the better I could become at using it.
That was pretty neat.
I continued to use it for at least another hour, due to the fact that it was actually pretty fun to practice with, but the smile on my face quickly dropped once I sent out the last green wave of energy before I had intended to go back inside.
That's when I picked up on the presence of a single undead heading towards the Takagi Estate.
However, the fact the zombie was there wasn't what had given me a sense of alarm, it was the speed at which it was coming towards us.
Quickly rising up from my seated position, I snuck out of the Takagi Estate in order to see for myself what it truly was and planned on circling around so that I could avoid any of the people that might've been on guard duty. It was possible that the zombie could've been another mutation.
If that was actually the case, I truthfully wasn't sure whether or not all of these people would be prepared for it. There's no telling what one of those things could potentially turn into.
Getting rid of the partial transformation, I used my natural superhuman capabilities instead and proceeded to run at a speed that was around approximately sixty miles per hour the entire way.
(The internet says that sixty miles per hour is around ninety-six kilometers per hour.)
--------------------------------------------------
It only took about forty-five seconds for me to reach an area that the zombie would have to go through, which would also give me the opportunity to kill it before the undead creature could reach the Takagi Estate. Luckily, between the distance here and to the mansion, they wouldn't be able to pick up on what was about to happen either.
Jumping up into a large shady tree, I skillfully hid myself on top of a thick branch and patiently waited for my target. That's when my ears perked up at the sound of a vehicle slowly getting closer, which threw me off until I connected the dots.
It wasn't that the zombie had been running like I previously thought... someone was purposefully containing it in some type of cage so that they could haul it to the Takagi Estate. My mind was trying to come up with a reason as to why this unknown person would do that but I kept drawing a blank. Unfortunately, I didn't have any time left to think further on the subject, due to the fact that the vehicle began to pass a few feet away from me.
It didn't take long for me to spot the cage which contained the zombie, located on the backside of a black truck. The zombie appeared to be of the walker variant, just an average and weak lower-class type. That at least filled me with a small amount of relief.
However, the temporary pleasant feeling was very short-lived.
Eager to know who it was that intended on bringing a zombie to the Takagi Estate for an unknown reason, my eyes quickly switched towards the driver seat, which carried a tall man with jet black hair and orange colored eyes. My mind immediately stopped any other thought that could've possibly been running through my head, instead solely focusing on the man that I saw driving the black truck in front of me.
That damn bastard had finally returned.
It was Sōichirō Takagi.
(The picture of his appearance will be here.)
