A Brisk Early Morning

It was quiet yet refreshing, to be temporarily isolated from any sort of human life.1

Thick spruce trees covered in a blanket of pure white snow that glistened around me on all sides, along with the ambient noises of wildlife made for quite the tranquil resting place.

Quite a bit of time has passed as well, considering the fact that it was now around the end of November, and it had begun snowing a few days ago.

With every step that I took through the condensed forest wrapped around the Takagi mansion, my black winter boots created a satisfying 'crunch' sound, which just packed down the snow more than it already had been.

Eventually stopping once I believed it to be a good enough spot with a fair amount of distance between the Takagi mansion, I raised my left arm to about chest height before the area around my wrist produced a blinding flash of green light from out of nowhere.

Or, that's what it had seemed like at first, but I was actually doing it on purpose.

A certain watch-like device suddenly appeared on my left wrist in an instant, which apparently represented my unique ability to potentially transform into an unimaginable amount of different alien species, and the Omnitrix was definitely a perfect fit as I couldn't help but smile down at it.

It was supposedly called the Omnitrix, or that's what I had been told at least, and I found the odd name to be pretty fitting.

However, it still confused me as to how I was able to speak with some of my alien forms, but there was certain things that just didn't really need an explanation, I suppose. It didn't really matter all that much to me in any case, due to the fact that I instinctively knew that all of it was somehow a deeply-ingrained part of me that would never even think about betraying my trust.

Alright, enough with the sentimental talk for now.

While I was fully capable of physically operating the Omnitrix to a specified alien that I wanted to use, it honestly just seemed much easier to watch as it began repeatedly flipping through my currently unlocked alien forms.

I was able to control the Omnitrix with my mind as well.

However, there has been a recent development concerning one of my previous alien forms, and the fact that it had been replaced with a different one instead. I was sitting on my bed alone, checking out the Omnitrix, which is when I had noticed the very unusual phenomenon. My Chronosapien alien form had disappeared from the watch-like device.

Due to the fact that the Omnitrix was a piece of technology, I had just chalked it up to a glitch in the matrix kind of thing, but I was hoping that it wouldn't happen very often.

(It's not, I assure you. Read the 'Creator's Thoughts' at the bottom of this chapter for a more in-depth explanation as to why I decided on doing it in the first place.)

Eventually, I made the Omnitrix stop at the transformation which replaced my Chronosapien form, and the face of the watch-like device began lowering itself down until another flash of blinding green light erupted in the middle of the quiet snowy forest.

My body quickly started to rapidly produce thick black wisps of a smoke-like substance, that is until I unconsciously manipulated a large mass of the suffocating darkness to begin solidifying just enough to where I was able to form somewhat of a humanoid appearance, which possessed a pair of ominous glowing white eyes.

(The picture of it's appearance will be here.)

As I stared down at myself in order to see what unusual form I had taken, my eyes couldn't help but widen a bit from what this alien form instantly reminded me of.

Darren.

His Umbrakinesis was much like the unique abilities that this... Dravkyn form possessed on it's own.

Although, Darren's powers hadn't exactly risen to this degree of potency just yet.

The snow continued to fall down all around me as I increased the size on both of my arms, the ends of the digits on both my hands quickly extending into a pair of menacing claws. Since this was my first time trying out the transformation, I figured that this would be a good time to get used to some of it's abilities.

Being far enough away from the Takagi mansion, along with the routes that the Patrol teams took every day, I was fairly certain that I wouldn't really be caught all the way out here unless somebody decided to go exploring for some reason. However, while the Takagi Estate was a lot safer due to the many changes that was made to it, most of the people living inside the gated residence still felt like it was best to not leave.

That's what a constant sense of fear did to you if it wasn't kept under control.

Without wasting anymore time, I dashed forward in a quick burst of speed, throwing up a large amount of snow in the process. The darkness congregating around my body lashed out in a violent manner, striking two other trees that were nearby, and the sound of a loud crack reverberated throughout the snowy forest as both thick spruce trees began toppling over.

Glancing down near the base area, I noticed a deep slash mark on each individual tree, and both of them had gone straight through the other side with a precise accuracy.

"Holy shit..." My voice came out hoarse and gravelly, indicative as to who the voice really belonged to, which was the alien form that I had transformed into. Due to it's appearance, I thought it fit pretty well actually.

As I refocused my attention, I swiped both of my clawed hands across one another in the shape of an x, viciously cutting through the thick spruce tree that stood tall in front of me. It turned out to be no match for my superior strength compared to it's unimpressive durability.

Just like the two before it, the thick spruce tree crashed down towards the ground. Once it stopped moving completely, I purposefully increased the length of my arms in order to grab the two fallen trees laying a few feet away, and tossed them towards the other one with ease.

Turning back around, I glanced at some of the thick spruce trees continuing to stand tall around me with a critical eye, an unruly mass of light-absorbing darkness beginning to gather behind my back.

I wasn't done just yet.

--------------------------------------------------

Wiping a small amount of dirt off my shoulders, I rolled up the sleeves on my sweater, and activated my ring. It only pulsed for just a second before quite a few supplies dropped down onto the ground in front of my feet with a dull thud.

The basic requirements for a large tent, a couple of long-lasting candles, an axe that had a bit of age to it's appearance, and a comfortable futon bed. In due time, I was eventually going to upgrade everything until I had a better camping spot.

The reason that I was doing this in the first place was just so that I could have a quiet and relaxing area away from everyone else. However, that didn't mean that I wouldn't be bringing the girls around because I actually wanted to do that every once in a while.

Just to be on the safe side, I planned on letting Yuriko know about it, which would result in the guards catching wind of it as well. While I may have been able to avoid their usual patrol routes, I didn't want them to just suddenly walk up on my camping area with the assumption that I was a complete stranger.

Noticing my warm breath as I took in the fresh air, I rubbed my hands together before quickly getting to work on setting everything up. Considering it was in the early morning, I figured that sleeping here tonight sounded like a pretty good idea.

Yesterday, Rika had told me that she wanted to spend some time with me. I suppose introducing her to this new construction of mine could be an interesting idea for a... date.

Our relationship could be really confusing sometimes. Over the past few months that we had spent quite a bit of time around each other, as well as gotten to know more about the other person, she actually seemed to really take an interest in me.

However, every time that the sexual tension between us escalated to a near-suffocating level, Rika would become distant in nature and try her best at avoiding any sort of physical contact.

It was... bewildering, to say the least.
