Dangerous Implications
The next morning, Dante slowly opened his eyes to a particularly amusing sight.2
While it could've been chalked up to a rare case of sleepwalking, the fact that Sara was currently halfway on top of Dante with her body, clinging to his torso like a body pillow nevertheless brought a smile to the black haired boy's face.
Subsequently, the light-hearted chuckle that reverberated from his chest made the girl's blue eyes flicker open, her vision gradually returning to a more clear state. Once it was finally restored, the first thing that she noticed was Dante's red-slit eyes looking back at her with a mixture of amusement and confusion. Her eyes widened, but the small blonde still hadn't realized what was truly going on, and so they slowly descended the boy's athletic frame with a feeling of embarrassment which progressively got worse the more that she became aware of what he actually looked like under those loose pieces of fabric that he decided to constantly wear for whatever reason.
Fortunately for him, he still had a pair of boxer-like shorts on.
While Dante clearly noted the attraction within Sara's eyes, he wasn't planning on engaging in any kind of sexual activities with her until she at least grew up a little bit more. Not only that, but he also decided that allowing the girl to form her own decisions and make the first move was his best bet. Just from the relatively short time that they've known one another, Dante could already somewhat predict the kind of woman that she would become in the future, and he didn't want to disrupt her increasing potential to archery by distracting the blonde with things that weren't nearly as important during this time of her life.
Within a matter of what seemed like milliseconds, Sara leaped off of the bed like a frightened cat and began to profusely apologize, her face instantly becoming just as red as a tomato. Unable to contain himself any longer, Dante nearly blew a gasket as he broke out in laughter, occasionally turning in his bed as Sara took a seat on the edge of hers while it looked like the girl's face was going to produce steam at any possible moment.
Clutching his stomach, Dante eventually wiped away the water that had proceeded to build up within his tear ducts, and sat on the edge of his bed across from the red-faced blonde as he finally calmed down enough to speak like a normal person. "It's alright, it's alright. I don't mind if you want to cuddle every now and then, but you should at least let me know about it beforehand next time. That way, I won't suddenly wake up because I can feel a pair of hands getting dangerously close to my groin area..." Dante said, adding in the last part just to tease her even more, and it definitely had an effect on the girl even if it wasn't actually true. Not bothering to tell her otherwise certainly didn't make it any better.
"W-W-What?! Oh god, I'm so sorry!" Sara panicked, feeling like she just wanted to dig herself a grave and live in it for the rest of her life. It nearly reached the point where she would've started to hyperventilate if it wasn't for Dante's quick reassurance afterwards.
Moving forward to crouch in front of the girl as the slightly concerned boy placed a gentle hand on one of her knees, he looked into her eyes before stating, "I mean it, Sara. Whether you did it because you were sleepwalking, felt cold and wanted a bit of extra warmth, or just needed someone that you could trust to act as a comforting presence while you slept next to them, it really doesn't matter. Honestly, you don't even have to ask. Just crawl onto my bed and slip under the covers. There's no point for you to feel like you're all alone or something. I just want you to know that I'm here if you ever need me." in a firm tone.
Hesitantly nodding her head, Sara crossed the short distance and wrapped her arms around Dante's shirtless upper body, and he reciprocated the gesture by embracing the girl while rubbing her back.
"T-Thank you..."
Instead of increasing the somber atmosphere within the room, Dante said, "No problem. Being your body pillow honestly doesn't sound that bad." in a joking manner. Even though he couldn't directly see her face, Dante could still feel the heat exuding from it as she groaned with a sense of embarrassment.
--------------------------------------------------
"So, where are we going?" The blonde inquired just as the two of them made their way outside of the inn, joining the crowd of people walking through the streets as Dante led her to a location that she had no clue about.
Taking a brief glance at his partner, Dante snorted in amusement. "I've already said it twice. I'm going to introduce you to a sword instructor, who's name is Augusta."
The intermediate-ranked swordsman kept quiet about how he eventually came to an agreement with the bearded man. In the middle of their conversation last night, Dante revealed that the person waiting for him at the inn was a girl, who was learning the basics of archery from him. When that was mentioned, he noticed that Flute's head had perked up a bit more, and it caught his interest.
Long story short, it turns out that she used to be really good with a bow and arrow, and was willing to take some time out of her day to help teach the girl since he was going to have a lot on his plate from now on. He was more than happy to accept the offer, but keenly remembered how grim Augusta's face had become at the mere broach to the subject.
While Dante had told the girl about some of his plans when they were still camping out in the forest near Murenfall Village, which included the fact that he was going to attend the Water God school located at the capital, she definitely wasn't expecting the boy to apply himself so soon.
When they finally reached a building that he was beginning to get increasingly familiar with, it only took about three knocks until the door opened up and the duo was met with a six foot tall man that appeared to become somewhat aloof in nature at the sight of the small blonde standing next to Dante, but she automatically came to the assumption that it was just his resting bitch face. Not to mention, the girl was very used to facial expressions like that being constantly turned towards her, so there was only a subtle change in her mood at that point.
However, she was beginning to notice just how strikingly different her only friend seemed compared to everybody else. This realization only served to increase her attraction towards him while doing the opposite to the rest, which was slowly creating a preconception within her mind that most if not all people weren't as good as Dante. If the boy that it was revolved around came to know about it, he would consider the implications of that to be somewhat dangerous, especially when he was already aware of the basic personality traits that came along with becoming a yandere.
"Good morning, sir. This is the one that I told you about. Her name is Sara." Dante said, motioning for his friend to say something. Nodding in confirmation at the fact that her name was indeed Sara, the blonde haired girl decided to keep it short and to the point.
"Hello." She quietly intoned, figuring that even attempting to set a positive impression on the man wouldn't do a lot in her favor. The girl was very familiar with these kinds of people, so knowing that he already didn't like her wasn't really a surprise, nor did it have much of an effect on her in the long run. Just the fact that Dante was even nearby quickly made her feel better, a small smile crawling onto her face as she continued to stare into the stranger's eyes.
Augusta immediately felt that something was a little off with the girl as she smiled at him, but didn't think much of it as he eventually motioned for the two of them to enter his abode.
