One more month

Yu Empire… 2

Yu Chen was standing by the floor-to-ceiling glass window, like a perfectly carved statue. His hands were inside his pockets while his eyes were focused on the huge billboard below, flashing Xiao Mimi's perfume CF. 

He seemed lost in thought, not tearing his eyes away from the masked girl on the billboard. He stayed silent, standing there for a long time. When Gu Jinyang was telling him everything that had happened in the last four months, Yu Chen didn't say a thing and just silently listened to him. He didn't even seem surprised when Gu Jinyang told him just how amazing Luo Xiaolei was.  

And then, once Gu Jinyang was done, Yu Chen moved and just stood at the window for an immeasurable period of time. He seemed to be  thinking about something so important that he didn't even notice that Xiaolei had already arrived.  

Xiaolei saw Gu Wei and the others waiting outside her office, so she immediately knew that her husband was there. She didn't ask the men anything and just went straight towards the door.  

Slowly, she pushed the door open and peeked inside. When she saw that Yu Chen was facing towards the window, she quietly entered.  

She was surprised when the man still didn't notice her, but she soon understood why. Xiaolei noticed that the man was wearing earbuds, so she tiptoed closer to him. A playful smile was carved on her face as she approached him.  

When Xiaolei reached him, she hid behind him. And then, she lifted her hands and suddenly poked his sides, just above his hips.  

The man was jolted, and he subconsciously pressed his arms against his sides. His reaction was exactly the same as last night. Xiaolei chuckled at the sight of him.  

"Xiaolei…" he called out as he stepped back twice, bumping into the glass window.  

"Hubby… why are you retreating?" she playfully asked, and Yu Chen blinked at her. He cleared his throat and straightened.  

"You're back," he said as he spread his arms wide, silently asking her to bury herself in his arms.  

Of course, Xiaolei didn't even hesitate, and she threw herself to him.  

"What are you listening to?" she asked, wrapping her hands around his waist.  

Yu Chen removed one of his earbuds and put it in her ear.   

"Everything's turning colorless. 

The moonlight can't cheer me up anymore. 

I miss you. 

I miss your smile, your voice, your touch. 

It's unbearable. I'm breathless. I'm cold. 

But I'll wait, even if it takes forever…" 

Xiaolei pressed her lips tight as she pulled away a little to look at his face. He was smiling at her, and there was a glimmer in his eyes.  

"Do you like the song?" she asked.  

"Mm. It's beautiful." 

"Thank you. I wrote that song looking at you while you were unconscious." 

"Thank you for missing me, for waiting for me." He bent and gently kissed her forehead.  

Xiaolei gazed at him and caressed his cheek. "Thank you for coming back," she replied, and the two embraced each other again.  

After what seemed to be a long time, Yu Chen broke the silence first.  

"Xiaolei… I want to take over the company again. I want you to focus on your dream." He now said, and Xiaolei immediately pulled away to look at him. She was surprised. She stared into his eyes and when she saw that he was serious, she pressed her lips tight. 

"But, you're still not fully well."  

"I'm fine now." 

"Yang Jin said you can't go back to work yet. You have to continue your rehabilitation for one more month before you're allowed to work again." 

"But –" 

"It's okay. My career can still wait. One month isn't long."  

Yu Chen fell silent. This was what he'd been thinking about while looking out the window. She had wasted four months because of him so he really wanted her to step down now and start focusing on her career. But as expected, Xiaolei wouldn't agree, not until he was fully recovered.  

"How about, I'll take over Star Castle then? It's a small company and it won't give me too much work to do. That way, you will have spare time to work on your career suggested. Xiaolei blinked at him.  

"You will stay as the empire's CEO for one more month. I'll take over Star Castle," he repeated. "If we do that, you will at least have spare time to prepare your next songs or an album. After one month, you will be prepared and ready." 

Xiaolei was speechless. She could tell that this man had thought about this seriously, and she was touched. She didn't expect this at all.  

"Don't worry. I will not overwork myself, and I will not skip my daily therapy. I promise," he vowed as he continued persuading her to agree. "I already talked about this with Yang Jin. My body will recover as long as I don't abuse it. Actually, he gave his approval when I told him about my plan to take over Star Castle instead of the entire empire." 

Yu Chen was looking at her intensely. She could see him trying his very best to convince her, and she felt overwhelmed. He  really didn't need to persuade her to this extent. He could do whatever he wanted. She knew that she wouldn't be able to do anything once he insisted on taking back Yu Empire from her hands. She initially thought that she would be the one to persuade and convince him to let her lead the empire for one more month, but here he was … She really didn't have anything more to say. Her Yu Chen was simply an angel! 

"Okay, I agree. I'm giving you Star Castle," she finally said, and Yu Chen suddenly lifted her and spun her around. "Hey, careful! You still can't move recklessly!" Xiaolei immediately protested, and the man put her down. Both of them then chuckled as they cuddled.  

Who would've thought that they would actually end up taking over each other's company?
