Mikoto's current look was unlike her usual, healthy appearance. She had deep eye bags and puffy eyes that indicated long periods of crying. In front of her was a picture of her family, with Ren, Masaki, and a lady assumed was her mother.

Walking up to her, he sat a small distance away, placing his hands on the tatami behind him. Looking up at the ceiling, he sighed and spoke earnestly.

"I'll bring your brother back."

"What...?" hearing Jun'swords, Mikoto stared at him in disbelief. From his tone, she couldn't tell if he was lying or if this was serious.

"Not all hope is lost. You said that Ren was kidnapped, not killed. There is still a chance." Staring into her eyes, Jun smiled. "Give me one year. I promise that before the year is over, Ren will be back with us."

He truly felt pity for Mikoto. In a way, he saw herself in her, back when he had lost his siblings. There was an instinctive feeling inside of him that made him want to help, especially when he had the power to.

"Do you mean it...?" Although Jun's words were convincing, Mikoto was still reluctant to believe. Although in the corner of her mind, she wanted to, her conscious warned her that this was probably to make her feel better.

"I do." Firmly nodding, Jun rose to his feet and headed for the door. "I'm going to see Aito now, get better."

"Mikoto, I brought tea." Sliding the door open before Jun could, Fugaku was startled by Jun. "And why are you here?"

Looking down at the Chunin, Fugaku didn't know what to think; an uncomfortable feeling was starting to fill his stomach.

"Me? I was just paying Mikoto a visit. I'll see myself out then." Nodding at Fugaku, Jun circled around him and left with a smile. Looking back, Fugaku furrowed his brows before shifting back to Mikoto.

"What were you two talking about?"

"Nothing..." Staring at Jun's retreating figure, Mikoto felt some kind of way, but she was unable to describe it. Safety? She wasn't sure.

Walking into his room, Jun placed his backpack and the box of Taiyaki on the Tatami mat. Sliding open the door to the garden, he looked out and saw Aito practicing his shuriken technique.

Smiling, he sat down on the veranda and watched him until he was done.

As Aito picked his shuriken up, he saw Jun through the corner of his eye and jolted in surprise.

"Aniki! You're back!"

"Haha, indeed I am." Chuckling, Jun motioned for Aito to come and sit near him. Ruffling his hair, he spoke in a warm tone. "How was the past few days? Did you do a lot of training while I was gone?"

"Yeah! I mastered the jutsu you taught me!" Getting up, Aito aimed at the pond and quickly performed hand seals before inhaling some air and spitting a grandiose fireball. It was bigger than the average genin's.

"Whew, not bad." Whistling in surprise, Jun clapped. He had to admit; this little guy was doing bits.

"Hehe, What about you, Aniki? Mio told me you were out on a secret mission... How did it go?" Excited, Aito sat back down and looked at his brother with sparkling eyes. "Tell me, tell me!"

"Well, I can't be too thorough with the details..." Crossing his arms and closing his eyes, Jun made a reluctant expression. Seeing this, Aito got anxious.

Seeing his reaction through the corner of his eye, Jun laughed internally. Kids were too easy to fool.

"But I can tell you some of it... You see, I fought this criminal that had multiple hearts. He looked like something out of a nightmare..."
