Chapter 110 – Lizzy and Matilda's stance on Love
Matilda smiled at the uniqueness and strength of Sabrina's love for Robin. 2
She had never met any woman who loved better than Sabrina. However, she felt that the timing was the problem in Sabrina's love story.
"Sabrina was perfect for Robin, but he saw it too late."
"What do you mean?" Lizzy asked seriously, glad to be having this conversation with Matilda since she was Sabrina's best friend.
Lizzy had never had a best friend before, so her sister and brother were her only best friends.
"Sabrina will be discharged tomorrow, and I know that Robin will be there. Look into his eyes when he talks to her. Robin is in love with Sabrina," Matilda said with certainty while she extended her finger for a bet.
Lizzy was saddened before the understanding settled that Sabrina had withdrawn her investment in Robin's heart before he realized how much he loved her.
Now, it would be difficult for her to love him again. Moreso, impossible.
"But now she hates him."
"So, he has to work harder," Matilda shrugged. Robin had his chance, and he blew it. Now, he had to work ten times harder to win back what was given to him before on a plate of gold.
Lizzy felt comfortable with Matilda, and thought to ask the question troubling her heart, whiles she hoped that Matilda would not be offended,
"Are you planning to give Daniel a chance? He asked me out first, and he has a girlfriend."
"Really? Why did you not give him a chance?" Matilda asked with a surprised look.
She knew that Lizzy had never been in any relationship, which she only attributed to Devin's overprotectiveness.
Even with Matilda, for as long as she lived under Devin's roof, she was automatically covered with the same blanket of overprotectiveness from him.
"Devin told me he was Robin's best friend and a womanizer too, so I decided to avoid him like the plague he was," Lizzy shrugged, though her heart felt heavy at the thought.
She wondered if Daniel had gotten over her as he said and was interested in Matilda as he projected.
"I see you don't like adventure," Matilda observed.
Lizzy and Sabrina were the only girls she knew who had not seen the fun side of relationships. Sabrina was forced into marriage without having the chance to know what a boyfriend was.
"What do you mean by that?" Lizzy was slightly confused again. Matilda laughed and revealed with warmth,
"Playing with the player. But please don't try it. It might get you into trouble. Like Stanley, I knew he was a player, but I thought he would change since he showed interest. Little did I know that he was a gigolo and was only paid to destroy me."
"Okay, at least Daniel isn't a gigolo, but the first time I saw him, he was with a woman and still tried to hit on me. That was disrespectful to the woman he was with," Lizzy explained.
He understood what Matilda meant but felt like she was ready for an adventure. Her life has been all work and no play. It was beginning to get boring.
"Perhaps she was paid to be by his side like a whore," Matilda analyzed and retorted.
Unlike Lizzy and Sabrina, she has had a great experience with men on a short-term basis, though she never slept with them.
Most of them dared not force her because of who her father was, but only Stanley had the guts to inject drugs into her blood.
"Well, he mentioned something like that," Lizzy recalled and agreed, surprised by how Matilda quickly knew about it. Matilda smiled and said,
"You know what, men search for adventure, but soon enough, they stop when they find the right person."
Lizzy let out a sad smile as all her plans for adventure disappeared from her blood.
"My brother would never allow me to date him anyway."
Matilda did not want to give bad advice, but Lizzy was already twenty-three. "Forget your brother. What about you?" Matilda asked seriously, hoping that Lizzy would begin thinking about what makes her happy instead of being under Devin's belt.
Matilda knew that Devin meant good but also felt that he needed to understand the fact that, at a point in life, his sisters needed to operate on freedom in the choices they made. Lizzy's hopes raised a little before crashing again,
"He already asked me to design a dress for his girlfriend and deliver it to her in his house, which means that they live together, and here he was, hitting on you."
Her voice and countenance were embalmed with jealousy, and Matilda caught it.
"Lizzy, are you jealous?"
Lizzy perked up, and her expression changed to seriousness while she asked,
"Do I look jealous?"
Matilda laughed and said, "You sound jealous, but all I can tell you is, if you feel anything for him, get to know him, but please don't let him get into your pants if you know what I mean. Players get tired if they get it too early. I might like bad boys, but I'm still a virgin," she revealed.
Lizzy found the last part of her sentence hard to believe.
"How is that possible?" She asked seriously.
Matilda shrugged, "well, I like you doesn't mean I want to fuck you. I date them, but when I realize they are too bad and would never change, I shift aside," Matilda explained in plain terms.
She wanted a man who would love her as she loved him before allowing him into her pants. He also had to be faithful to her alone.
"Don't they try to force themselves on you?" Lizzy was still wide-eyed while she asked. Matilda smiled and responded,
"It's the reason to always meet in crowded places. There will always be evidence."
"I get it, but are you sure you don't feel anything for him?" Lizzy asked again, careful for both of them to not get entangled with the same man.
"The only thing I feel for him is shock, and I have a feeling that he was just trying to get on your brother's nerves," Matilda explained. Lizzy found relief in her words and laughed,
"Hahaha, that is funny. I hope you find love."
"I have, but I don't know if the person would ever love me," Matilda said with a sad countenance. Lizzy asked curiously,
"Please tell me who?"
