Chapter 100 – Sabrina wants Robin to prepare her salad
Robin's finger traced her smooth face, and he admitted that Sabrina was a very beautiful woman, except that he was noticing it too late. 2
Robin had lost count of the women he had been with, but he always felt that Sabrina was different and the prettiest of them all.
Then again, he blamed himself for hurting her so much because of the arranged marriage. He wanted to push her away, and when it finally happened, all he felt was regret and emptiness.
It was only when he slept right here beside her that he did not dream about her like other times.
Her mark was registered in his soul, and he knew there was no way he would let any other man have her. He accepted that he could not have her back, but he wasn't going to let her move on. They would take care of their child together.
Robin went out to get some snacks since he was not sure that Sabrina would be able to eat the
food Matilda had brought.
It was already late, so it would not even be healthy for her to eat a full meal. A snack was the best option at the moment.
He had merely finished buying the snacks when his phone rang. Seeing Zayla's name on the caller ID, he was a little disturbed and asked,
"Zayla, are you alright?"
"Yes, but Daniel is here, and he said that you are not coming home. What is the problem?"
Zayla was used to Robin getting home late sometimes, but for the first time, Robin sent a man to come and live with her. He also did not call her himself.
The chef usually left in the evenings to come in the morning, while the cleaners would come in the morning. After the workers left, Zayla would be the only one at home, but she was never bored and enjoyed the freedom to hatch her evil plans.
She just did not like Daniel's presence, just as Daniel hated hers. Robin explained,
"It's an emergency, but it would only take three days. Let's say that one day is gone, so just two days more."
That is, Robin did not intend to go home until Sabrina was discharged from the hospital. Zayla was used to Robin's occasional travels, but he always gave her details.
This was the first time he was being flat in his discussion with her and even allowing his best friend to sleep over at the penthouse to take care of Zayla.
"Robin, I don't like Daniel. Can I go to my dad?"
"Yes, you can but don't forget that your father no longer owns his house. It's all part of the items to be auctioned to recover part of the money he owes," Robin reminded her.
He was not going to waste his money paying for a foolish debt. Getting her father out of police custody was the best he could do.
"But he is with Mum, so I will stay there for a few days," Zayla suggested.
She would prefer to be in the penthouse alone, but as long as Daniel was there, it felt like she was being watched, and the fact that Daniel was a hacker, Zayla was afraid.
"Make sure you go with the driver," Robin instructed for her safety's sake. Zayla was happy and responded,
"Alright, thank you."
After the chat on the phone, Robin returned with the snacks and sat back on the chair while he leaned his head against Sabrina's bed and dozed off.
He was awakened a few times when the nurses came to change the IV.
Sabrina woke up after midnight. Everywhere was dark, but she felt a presence beside her bed.
"Devin?"
Since Robin said he was going to stay for just half the night, she guessed that the only person who would be by her side was Devin, but how wrong she was.
Robin woke up instantly and responded, "Sabrina, do you need anything? How are you feeling?"
His voice was husky from sleep, but the coating of care around it got Sabrina irritated. How dare he act all loving towards her when she was trying her very best to get him out of her life?
Sabrina's hands balled into fists while she responded,
"You said you were going to spend half the night."
Robin did not see a reason to lie anymore since it was just the two of them. "I only said it for you to stop talking. Do you need anything?"
"Where is Devin?" Sabrina asked instead of stating her demand. Robin responded casually and turned on the light. He saw how she had paled, which he attributed to her illness.
"I sent him away. Your father, Lizzy, and your best friend were here, but I told them I could take care of you," he explained.
Sabrina felt helpless, wondering how Robin managed to get everyone away from her.
"Water."
Robin went to pick up the water and fed her. She did not refuse. Since he wanted to take care of her, Sabrina felt it would be good to make him pay for all the years he neglected her.
"How are you feeling?" Robin asked softly. She was surprised to be hearing that only after the divorce. Taking a deep breath, she responded,
"I no longer feel the pain. Tell the doctor to discharge me." She wanted to be away from him. She would be a fool to fall for his so-called kindness.
"You have to continue with the antibiotics for two more days," Robin reminded her. Sabrina bit her lips so hard it drew blood. She just did not want him in her space.
"Can't you leave me alone? It's over between us."
Robin smiled at her. He was smitten by his ex-wife the more she rejected him. "If it's over, then my presence should not bother you. You can just ignore me or pretend that I'm not here."
Sabrina sensed the complacency in his tone, which to her, only meant that he felt she was still in love with him. Perhaps if she turned him into an errand boy, he would leave.
"Okay, then I'm hungry."
"What would you like to eat?" Robin asked excitedly, not expecting the response she gave,
"Salad, and I want you to prepare it yourself."
