[Bonus chapter]Chapter 253 – Robin nailed it
The three women were suspicious to hear a male voice coming from Devin's kitchen, knowing that Devin's best friend was on the run.1
Devin was nervous, not wanting to ruin Robin's surprise for Sabrina.
"It's nobody, just me."
Matilda was suspicious because when she spoke with Devin on the phone, she heard him talking to someone and thought that her mind was playing games on her.
It was the reason why she came without informing him with the excuse that she wanted to pick her working clothes for tomorrow, having Sabrina and Lizzy tagging along because they were bored.
She quickly rushed to the kitchen and seeing Robin, she froze, as he pressed his finger on his lips.
Matilda guessed that Robin was learning to cook to impress Sabrina like Daniel did for Lizzy, but was worried about the discoloration on his hand, which must be from a burn he sustained, for which reason he screamed.
However, if she uttered a word, then everyone would know that Robin was there so she swallowed her pity, smiled, turned around, and went back to the living room.
"There's no one there but I think your food would burn," she said to alert Devin to go check on Robin.
"Alright, whatever you need is upstairs," Devin hurried to the kitchen.
"Girls, I think we can go now," Matilda said after picking a few non-needed stuff from Devin's room.
Sabrina and Lizzy wanted to bid Devin goodbye in the kitchen but Matilda dragged them away, whilst saying to Sabrina,
"Did you not say that you have a date in the evening? You should be resting well or Devin would make you eat too much, you won't be able to eat whatever Robin would order for you."
Sabrina agreed that Devin might indeed force her to eat which she did not want to and left with Lizzy and Matilda.
Devin saw that Robin's skin was discolorizing, already forming blisters, and helped him to wash the burn under running water whilst he went to get the first aid box.
When he returned, he cleaned the area and patted it dry with a clean towel before covering it with a clean bandage.
"Do you need a painkiller?"
"No," Robin shook his head and went to finish off what he started.
He loved the aroma of the sauce since it was just like the one Sabrina used to make for him and since he already had experience with chicken breast and pasta, those were also ready within a short time.
"Now let's see if it tastes the way my sister used to make it for you," Devin said and began with the plating.
"I don't want much. I want to eat with her," Robin said, not wanting to ruin his date and Devin shook his head, wishing that Robin had been like this from the onset.
There was no doubt they would have been best friends.
"There are still at least six hours to your date time," Devin reminded him but Robin wanted to eat with Sabrina.
The times they ate together, both their appetites were boosted, for which reason he wanted it so.
"You are right but I still want just a little," Robin insisted, Devin shrugged.
The leftovers would still come in handy anyway and Matilda might get to enjoy it later when she comes home.
When Robin tasted the food, a proud smile lined the corners of his lips.
"It's just the way Sabrina makes it."
He ate again, and then again but then, his plate was empty.
"I want more."
Devin was munching the food, feeling good that Robin cooked for him and how he nailed it perfectly.
They did not even bother to carry the food to the dining table but were eating in the kitchen.
"You are going to cook again and you have a date remember? Please leave my house before Matilda returns," Devin said, twirling the pasta around his fork and lifting it to his mouth.
"You are such a cheat," Robin shook his head and accused him before recalling something and saying, "wait, Sabrina must have seen my car."
Robin suddenly remembered that his car was in Devin's garage where Matilda must have parked hers but Devin shook his head, still munching on the food.
"If she had, she would have drawn my attention and besides, I used one of your cars last night so she won't think you are here."
"Alright, thanks. I will see you later." Robin said and reached the door after carrying the groceries when Devin stopped him.
"Robin, about Martin. Do you have a plan?" He already informed Robin about what happened and though Robin said he was going to take care of it, Devin still wanted to be involved.
"Yes. I will get him and his sister where they would never be able to escape. They are the next on my list," Robin's expression changed whiles he spoke.
Devin smiled and Robin left.
He drove to the villa after calling Cecilia to send the driver to meet him halfway but the woman was just so excited.
"Robin, I saw the news and you have made me happy." It was the first time Robin heard the old woman giggle like a sixteen-year-old.
"I'm glad you are happy, grandma, I told you that you would hear the news."
"I also hope that Sabrina gives you a second chance. It wasn't entirely your fault," she said sadly, Robin forced a smile and responded on the phone,
"That is why I'm moving back to the villa."
"Then you have my blessings," the old woman said with the same excitement, Robin smiled before saying on the phone,
"Thank you."
Reaching the villa, he checked and was satisfied that everything was in order before going to the kitchen to keep the groceries in the fridge.
The maids and the housekeeper were surprised to see that the master entered the kitchen and were happy it wasn't in a mess.
They already guessed they would have been in trouble.
After a short nap, Robin showered and dressed up so attractively, everyone was awed but could not directly compliment him.
His long sleeve causual shirt hid the bandage as he said to Margaret,
"Sabrina would be spending the night here and you know what she likes."
"Yes sir," Margaret said excitedly. She knew Sabrina's favorite flowers and was already headed to the garden to get some to fill the house.
