Chapter 257 - We are still on our date remember?
The room and the bed on which Sabrina sat, only brought her so many memories, and the handwriting on the letter caused her heart to long for Ronald, Robin's late father, Sabrina was already feeling his presence, as she read every word and detail of the letter.2
As the beginning of the letter stated that Robin was reading the letter because he had changed, Sabrina could still not put a finger on when this change began and thought about asking him later.
However, reaching the middle and the last part, Sabrina realized that Robin already knew everything through this letter, before exposing Zayla and her father.
Her red dress was already soaked wet with tears, as she read the letter for the fourth time.
Something heavy settled in her heart, feeling that Robin had changed a lot because he found out that she donated her kidney to save him.
At first, she thought that he found out at the party but how wrong she was. This was the kind of love she didn't want.
To her, it wasn't enough to love someone because the person saved one's life and she could not help wondering what if at another point in time, someone else saved Robin's life and demanded for him to marry her for it? He might oblige.
Love must be without conditions. It should come from the heart. True love is loving someone for who they are, whether they deserve it or not.
Sabrina knew that Robin did not deserve her love because of a great weakness he had but still could not stop loving him.
Even now, she still felt foolish that her fragile heart still longed for him.
However, she also felt that love was not enough to bring them together if this was the reason why Robin had changed so much.
It was the same reason why Zayla caused all the raucous in his life and he stood there watching, doing nothing about it.
She also learned that the diamonds were fake and had been sold so what were they doing here?
Wiping her tears, she headed to the door and opened it, only to see Robin sitting behind it with his head resting on his knees, looking pitiful.
Sabrina realized that she had been in there for close to two hours, wondering how long Robin had been in front of the door.
He lifted his head and when their gazes met, his eyes were as red as hers, if not more.
"Have you seen everything?" He asked in a remorse-laced tone.
Sabrina never saw him broken in his life like he was now, not even when they were married.
"How long have you known all these?" She asked in a cold tone, Robin let out a deep breath he did not know he was holding, and his head lowered.
He knew that the truth would put her off and said,
"Let's talk in the living room."
Sabrina bobbed her head and Robin went back to put everything where they belonged before locking the door and escorting her down the stairs.
Sabrina was amazed to see cushions, blankets, duvets, pillows, and little decorative lamps, all in red, and arranged in a way that gave the room a romantic vibe but her mood was already sore.
Robin was smart enough to make her eat before revealing everything because right now, she felt that even water would taste bitter in her mouth.
"You know that we don't need this right?"
She was indirectly taking a stand that nothing could happen between them but Robin still had hope because no matter what, both of them would still be together because of the twins.
Robin was grateful for the fact that the unborn twins were the saviors of his marriage.
The reason why he would always have an excuse to see her every day to right all his wrongs.
"We are still on our date, remember?"
Sabrina already agreed to spend the night, and could not go back on his words, thereby not saying anymore, as Robin led her to the blankets.
They were thick and cozy, he guided her to relax her back against the cushions he put together, before propping her with pillows.
Sabrina would have been moved by these actions but not after all that she found out.
"Are you comfortable?" Robin asked and she nodded her head but her smiles from before were all gone.
"Yes, so you can answer my question now."
Her voice was stern and Robin's throat felt dry, as he recounted truthfully,
"It was the day Daniel called you for the keys to the villa."
"The day you fainted," Sabrina clarified and Robin agreed,
"Yes."
Sabrina's lips stretched but the smile did not reach her eyes.
"It all makes sense now. You changing and trying to get me back, was all because you knew that I saved your life."
Robin expected this but from the way she turned cold, he did not know where to begin from.
"No…"
"And the diamonds, I thought they were fake and sold?" Sabrina cut him off and asked, Robin explained,
"No. Daniel helped me to get fake ones. These are real and they are yours. I didn't want anyone to know that they existed, for which reason I came up with the fake ones. It could attract robbers if news circulated that such diamonds were in this villa."
Sabrina bobbed her head, agreeing that he was right about the diamonds but she did not save his life to receive a trophy later.
"But your father already knows that I don't want them and you think that you love me because he told you to."
Robin smiled bitterly, hoping that she would believe him for once.
"No Sabrina. I know that you won't believe me but it's the truth. I didn't know what love was. I didn't even take your actions seriously because I thought that you married me because your father wanted help, so you were in for the money when the woman who saved my life was somewhere."
"Sabrina, if I indeed hated you, I never would have wanted a child from you. I was desperate for a child but how come I never impregnated anyone?"
Sabrina recalled what Zayla said that Robin was complaining to Daniel when drunk that after all their intimate moments, she never got pregnant and was torn between believing him or standing her ground, as he continued to speak….
