Chapter 263 - you deserve a reward for your change so far
"Dear one, our date is not complete without a kiss."0
Robin watched Sabrina, as she stiffened at his request and regretted it, feeling that he should have kept silent and not ruined her mood.
He didn't want that smile to leave her face like it did the last time they argued because of Martin.
However, his breath, which he had held before, evened out when she turned to face him with a small smile on her face.
It wasn't broad but he had hope because it was still a smile.
"Robin, are you sure that you want your ex-wife back?" She asked seriously, as she took a step towards him.
Robin was not sure if it was a good or bad question because her smile was vague, as compared to her words.
Holding her gaze, he replied seriously,
"Dear one, I need you, just as much as the air I breathe."
Sabrina folded her arms to her chest and smiled. It was broader than the first, awed to be getting the things she craved, right after letting go.
How could she have known that letting go would give her everything she ever wanted? She could hardly compare the man before her to the one she married, except for their physical appearance but their characters were completely different.
"I must say that I'm impressed by our night together. You have changed."
Robin was excited, feeling it was going to be good before she added, "But…"
Robin's heart was thumping by the contrast which he felt she was attaching to the compliment yet, he waited patiently for her to complete her statement.
"But I want to believe that this change is permanent because I don't think my heart can survive another heartbreak."
There was so much pain in her heart as the past came flooding in again.
Sabrina did not want to hold on to those memories anymore because of how they killed her joy.
She wanted to be happy and never thought that Robin was going to be in it but there was no way to kick him out of it.
Robin inched closer and held her two hands in his. He smiled and said to her,
"I promise, Sabrina. Like I said before, the only change you would ever see in me would be in the aspect of getting better than I am at the moment."
Sabrina fought back her tears. This man was so different and she wanted to give him a chance but every time she remembered the past and his harsh words, she would feel that it was better to not consider any relationship with him.
"I want to believe you," she said in a whisper, her words choked by unshed tears.
Robin did not want to take advantage of her fragile heart but wanted to prove to her what it meant for him to love her like she deserved.
"I promise that you won't regret it this time," he vowed, Sabrina was nodding her head,
"Alright. Let's see what you have planned for our second date. If it goes well, then you shall have that kiss."
Robin smiled, knowing that his surprise for their second date would be enough to blow her away.
He was about to release her hand and leave when she said something that warmed his heart.
"But you deserve a reward for your change so far."
His smile broadened, wondering what kind of reward she had for him when she hugged him tightly, and he smiled, pressing his lips onto her hair.
He didn't get the kiss on the lips like he wanted but this was equally good.
Strange enough, Sabrina had not pulled away like she would at most times and Robin was happy but his happiness turned to worry when he felt wetness in his shirt, which had slipped through the blazer he wore.
"Dear one, are you alright?" His eyes and voice were laced with worry, Sabrina lifted her head and her reddened eyes met his worried gaze.
"I hope you don't change back to my ex-husband because I would never refer to you as such again."
Robin's eyes were equally teary and he understood that she was giving him the chance for them to start over.
She was letting go of everything and he did not know what to think.
It was so unexpected but also, the most amazing feeling ever.
He tried to stifle his tears whilst she continued to say,
"I won't refer to your past mistakes anymore but I will be taking note of your present actions so please don't disappoint me."
Sabrina knew that if she kept holding on to the past, then she would not be able to see the future for what it was.
It must have been the hardest thing for her to do but the past only brought her pain, wiping every joy coming her way and she didn't want that anymore.
She wanted to be happy and chose to let go of all the pain that he caused her in the past.
Robin was shocked. This was more than the kiss he asked for and was extremely happy.
"You mean you have let go of the past?" Robin asked again, still not believing it until she nodded her head, her eyes still teary whilst she sniffed.
"I want to give us a chance and watch our relationship grow so for now, you are my very good friend and we don't have a past together, only a future."
Robin's heart was dancing and he felt like jumping.
"Thank you, Sabrina. I hope that as our relationship grows, you will accept me as a husband and not just a very good friend," he pushed his luck again.
He wanted her as his wife again and this time, he planned to spoil her with so much pampering, she would wonder if the world was made of just honey and sugar.
"I'm still thinking about it," Sabrina smiled and said, feeling better than she ever felt since the divorce.
Letting go was the medicine she needed and it healed her very fast, she could not feel the pain anymore.
Robin kissed her on the forehead and his lips lingered there for a while before he pursed his lips, as she lifted her head and their eyes met again.
They were both lost in something they could not explain, as their faces inched closer to each other.
Their emotions were out of control and all over the place, they both felt that they needed this, though their minds said they should wait but with their lips inches away and about to collide, the door flung open and Devin stood at the entrance.
"Oh sorry."
