Chapter 264 - I think you made the right decision
Devin was thinking throughout the night and wondering how things must have gone between Robin and Sabrina. 1
He knew that Robin had worked so hard, most of the things Sabrina did not know of.
After arriving at the office to take care of a few things, he hurried out to the JC Minerals Company to see Sabrina to pry about her night at the villa again.
Devin was so curious that he didn't sleep well through the night.
Matilda had insisted on driving to school by herself so the moment she reached school and confirmed to Devin that she had arrived, he was okay and free to go about his duties.
He hoped for things to improve between Sabrina and Robin but did not expect to walk into such an intimate moment, certain that they almost kissed and hated that he ruined it for them.
"Oh sorry."
He took steps back, ready to close the door when the couple pulled away from each other, allowing a gap between them.
Sabrina's cheeks crimson when she saw Devin and remarke shyly, "Devin."
"I will come back later," Devin said, about to leave when Robin, said,
"It's alright, Devin, I was about to leave."
Robin was sure that if not for the timely intervention of Devin, they would have kissed and he must have ruined everything.
He respected Sabrina's wishes and since she said that she would only allow a kiss if their second date was successful, he did not want to go against her wishes.
"Sorry, I didn't know that you were here, and trust me, I didn't see anything," Devin said remorsefully, wishing he had asked the secretary before going in as to whether Sabrina was alone or not.
"We did nothing," Robin shook his head and said, Sabrina went to sit in her executive swivel chair, a little disappointed by the rude interruption.
As she thought about the fact that they almost kissed, she strangely did not feel bad about it.
"Of course, you did nothing," Devin said to Robin before he turned to Sabrina and asked, "Sabrina, are you spending another night at the villa? I mean, you look well taken care of."
Both Sabrina and Robin glared at him and he remembered Robin saying that he did not need anybody's help to win back his ex-wife, instantly keeping mute.
"Dear one, I will see you in the evening," Robin smiled and said, Sabrina spoke a little shyly,
"I will be waiting."
She was indeed looking forward to it because his presence did not only bring security but also made her happy and she was now used to it.
When Robin walked out, Devin said to Sabrina apologetically,
"Sis, I will be right back."
He caught up to Robin before he reached the elevator and said,
"I'm sorry. I ruined it for you."
Robin shook his head, smiled at him, and said,
"No, you rather saved the situation. She didn't permit me but I don't know what came over me."
Daniel saw it in his sister's eyes that she did not seem pleased with his time of barging into her office, which meant that she would not have taken offense if it had happened.
"But it could have changed the situation," Devin said thoughtfully but Robin disagreed.
He would never be happy to have done it, knowing that she had not granted her consent to it.
"No. It would have rather worsened it. I have another date with her soon so don't worry," Robin said with a smile.
Devin was a little relieved, hoping to see more improvement in their next meeting.
"But how did it go?" He asked curiously, Robin smiled like a little boy, remembering all those beautiful words she said to him and the warm hug.
He was only sorry that she shed some tears too but overall,
"Perfect. I'm not keeping any more secrets from her."
"I'm very happy for you," Devin said with a genuine smile, Robin smiled back and entered the elevator before Devin went back to Sabrina's office seeing her all smiley and still blushing.
"So how was your date?" He sat in front of her and asked, Sabrina maintained her smile and responded,
"Surprisingly, it went well but is that the reason why you are here?" She asked him and Devin replied,
"Is it wrong to check on my kid sister? Anyway, I'm glad to hear that so are you giving him a chance?"
Sabrina shook her head, "No."
Devin frowned with dismay and asked, "Why?"
Sabrina smiled and retorted,
"Because we are starting over. I don't want to remember the past anymore."
Devin stood up, went around her desk, and hugged her. He was happy to hear this from her.
"I think you made the right decision."
"Thank you," Sabrina smiled shyly, burying her face in his chest. Devin rubbed her back soothingly and said,
"I'm happy for you, Sabrina. I believe that this is indeed a different Robin."
Sabrina was happy that for the first time, they both agreed on something about Robin and her smile dilated.
A few days later
At a certain private hospital, two people were kept in the same room, a male and a female. Even as doctors attended them, there were policemen around, as well as military men.
They had both been operated on due to severe injuries from the torture they had gone through a few days ago.
The female was the first to open her eyes, not knowing for how long she had been in a comatose state.
As the memories flooded back into her mind, she knew that she had to escape before Robin found her again but just as she tried to move her leg, she felt something cold. Leg cuffs?
Tears brimmed at the back of her eyes, as she thought about how much more torture she would have to go through.
She tried to move her hand, feeling another cold silver around her wrist. Handcuffs? No way.
Zayla sunk back into depression, as the pains from the torture and surgeries began to return slowly because the anesthesia had worn off after the doctors finished operating on her injuries…
