Chapter 269 – Without Her Trust, Love Is Not Enough

"Didn't you say before that you didn't care if she was pregnant with Robin's child?" Mara asked.

Mara believed that as long as Sabrina was carrying Robin's child, Robin would have an advantage, which is why she wanted to discourage Martin from harming the child if he ever kidnapped Sabrina.

Martin remembered that he had made that consideration when he thought Sabrina hated Robin and didn't want him near her. But now that things had changed, Martin was the one on Sabrina's hate list.

"That was because he didn't know, but now that he does, he would never let us live in peace," Martin explained.

"But Sabrina would hate you," Mara reminded him.

"At first, yes, but eventually she will fall in love with me," Martin said confidently.

He was determined to be with Sabrina, no matter what.

"You're such a daydreamer," Mara taunted, feeling annoyed by his unwavering determination.

She had loved him for so long, yet he only had eyes for a woman who didn't care about him.

Martin was upset and warned Mara,

"Don't provoke me, and just wait until I bring Sabrina."

Mara's heart was breaking at his obsession with Sabrina. She couldn't do anything to stop him, so she yelled,

"You're more delusional than I am!"

"I don't care. I must have Sabrina, and I will have her," Martin declared, determined. He made a call to get an update on Sabrina.

"Mr. Dane," the person on the other end answered.

"What's the update on Sabrina?" Martin asked, keeping the call private.

"She's at the office, but Mr. Jewel hired a bodyguard for her," the informant revealed.

Martin frowned, realizing that Robin was always one step ahead.

"A bodyguard?" Martin asked in surprise, suspecting it was because he was able to enter Sabrina's office undetected.

"Yes, and she's also her new secretary," the informant added.

Martin was frustrated with how Robin was making things difficult for him.

"What about the old secretary?" Martin inquired.

"She's still there," the informant replied. Martin pursed his lips, deep in thought, before asking,

"How good is her bodyguard?"

"She's excellent, the best in our batch," the informant revealed. Martin felt even worse, realizing they were from the same agency.

"So, you're from the same agency?" Martin asked.

"Yes, sir."

Martin smiled a little, but he didn't reveal his plans because Mara was present.

"Update me on Robin's whereabouts and let me know when Sabrina is alone, without Robin or her bodyguard around."

"That's hard because one of them is always there," the informant replied. Martin was annoyed.

"Just keep watching and update me."

"Yes sir."

Robin arrived at Sabrina's office and dismissed Laura, her bodyguard, before entering.

Sabrina was still busy with work, so she apologized and explained,

"I'm sorry but I need to complete a report for the mines."

Robin nodded understandingly but was worried about her. He asked,

"Have you rested today?"

He was concerned for her well-being and also regretful for not insisting on it.

Sabrina felt guilty seeing the worry lines on his face. She had been so busy that she forgot to rest, despite his offer to let her rest in his office.

"No, but I'll finish soon, so I'll rest well when I get home," Sabrina assured him.

Robin was still not satisfied, feeling guilty for keeping her up late the previous night.

"I'm still worried about your health," Robin expressed his concern.

"I'll be fine, it's just today," Sabrina reassured him.

"Alright, take all the time you need," Robin said, relaxing in the visitor's chair. His phone rang, and he saw it was a private number.

Thinking it might be Martin again, he considered stepping out to answer it. But when Sabrina looked suspiciously at him, he decided against it and answered the call, annoyed.

"Hello."

"Robin, I've been trying to call you, but your phone was switched off," a female voice said. It irritated him.

"Who is this?" he asked, frowning. Sabrina was listening in on his conversation, even though she knew it was wrong.

"Robin, don't you remember me? It's Shandra," the voice said. Robin froze, knowing that Sabrina was uncomfortable with Shandra's presence in New York City.

How unfortunate that she appeared just as Robin got rid of Zayla. Shandra's father was incredibly wealthy, and she was another spoiled brat.

"How did you get my personal number?" Robin asked coldly, avoiding Sabrina's curious gaze as she continued working.

"Did you forget who my dad is? Look, I want to invite you for a drink at our club, and we can talk business," Shandra requested.

It was the only way she could get Robin's attention since he took business seriously.

But Robin's response was not what she expected.

"If it's business, then call my secretary and book an appointment."

There was silence on the other end, and Robin felt she had received the message. He was about to hang up when she said out of the blue,

"But we are more than business partners."

Robin was irritated, knowing what she was insinuating. Shandra still believed he was the same person she knew in college and he wanted to prove to her that he had changed.

"Shandra, you already know that I'm married. I'm with my wife, and you're ruining our night," Robin said firmly.

"But..."

Robin ended the call before she could say another word. When he looked up and met Sabrina's gaze, he couldn't tell what she was thinking.2

"I'm ready," she said, but her smile was gone.

Robin felt a pang in his heart and asked, "My Queen, what happened to your smile?"

Sabrina forced a smile, but it didn't reach her eyes. "Seems like you can't stay away from women."

"What are you saying? I have no relationship with her," Robin defended himself, but Sabrina was still upset.

She believed that the problem wasn't just Robin, but also the women without dignity who threw themselves at him because of his looks, power, and charisma.

She stood up and was about to walk past him when he pulled her into his arms. Their gazes met, and Sabrina wanted to pull away, but he held her firmly and spoke in a pained voice.

"You told me you had let go of the past, but you still can't trust me. Sabrina, I'm nothing without your trust. It matters more to me than your love because without it, our love will never be enough."
