Chapter 113 – Hidden desires

"Yes," Devin admitted. Matilda felt a sense of loss that should Lindsay come back, Devin would run to her. After all, who would not like to date a woman like Lindsay? She was just so glamorous.0

"You both dated?" She asked seriously, and Devin nodded his head before he added,

"Until I caught her cheating on me. I sponsored her. I made her who she is. I gave her everything just to see her happy, but she was banging on one of my business partners. I broke up with her, but she came to beg for forgiveness a few days after Sabrina's divorce, and her presence reminded me of you."

From the way the story turned out, Matilda did not feel intimidated by Lindsay anymore. The pressure lessened from her heart whiles Devin continued to speak,

"That was when I asked about you from Sabrina, and she decided to call you. So, this is the pathetic story of my life."

Matilda felt giddy in her stomach, but she was saddened to have gone through so much before finding out the truth about what they felt for each other. 

"If you had told me how you felt, I would not have gone through all that I went through."

"I still don't understand," Devin looked at her with a confused expression. Matilda smiled and confessed her part.

"Well, I fell in love with you in college. You were our senior, and we were freshers. I wanted to ask you out, but everyone I told said it was wrong for a woman to ask a guy out. I tried to get over you, but I couldn't," Matilda lowered her head shyly as she recalled everything.

Devin was excited but also felt so stupid that he wanted to hide his face for the fact that Matilda had even thought about making a move when he kept hiding his feelings for her. 

Indeed, it was right for her not to have made the first move, but now, he felt like the cause of everything she went through in life.

"So, all the men you dated?" He asked curiously. 

Whenever she was with any man, his heart would ache, but he would shake it off and convince himself that it was okay and they were not meant to be. 

Even when he heard the news about her drug case, he wanted to help but held on, using Sabrina as an excuse.

"That was my quest to move on and feel that we were not meant to be," Matilda said with a heavy heart. Her emotions were complicated at the moment, and she did not know what he would think of her now. 

Surprisingly, Devin leaned in and pulled her to his chest. 

With the awkward position, she ended up sitting on his lap, and her stomach was feeling hot and giddy. 

Devin's hands were around her waist as he stared her longingly in the eyes and said,

"I'm so sorry. If I could change the hands of time, I would do things differently."

Matilda wrapped her arms around his neck and smiled, "I'm glad you told me now. I was confused about what occurred at the hospital," Matilda said honestly. 

Devin was so overjoyed. He was afraid that pursuing her was going to be difficult, but the feeling was mutual, and now that he knew, he vowed to treat her like the queen she was.

"Matilda, so you came back to me after all these years. Let's get married, please?" He leaned his forehead against hers and pleaded. 

They were both adults, and with their feelings for each other having been hidden for so long, Devin was not ready to take any more chances.

Matilda went into shock mode. She never expected things to escalate this fast. She created a little gap between them and said honestly, 

"I love you, Devin, but marriage is too soon. I want to achieve my dreams first."

"Share your dreams with me." Devin was not offended. They loved each other, so even if they could not get married immediately, he would wait for as long as it took.

"I want to go to culinary school and become a chef," Matilda revealed, not knowing how he was going to take it. Now that everything was over and her name was cleared, she was free to move about, and after the party, she would begin to pursue her dreams.

"Your dreams shall be my dream as well, and I will help you to achieve them." Without asking, he pressed his lips against hers, and when she did not refuse, his tongue begged for entrance, and Matilda opened her mouth to give him access. 

Soon, their tongues danced together, and began to fight for dominance in their first kiss. When they broke from the kiss, panting, Matilda went to her seat, blushing all through as Devin drove to his penthouse with a speed he never used before.

Arriving there, Matilda was pinned against the wall while Devin took her lips ferociously. His warm hands caressed her body, making her lost in his touch. He explored every inch of her body through the thin fabric on her skin. 

"Please promise me that you won't move out of here, and we will get married as soon as you achieve your dreams," he pressed his forehead against hers and asked after breaking from the kiss. 

Matilda leaned closer, tip-toed, and pecked him on the lips before she said and asked,

"I promise, but can I sleep in your room tonight?" She did not know how she was going to sleep in her bed alone with the fire he just sparked in her. 

Devin was honest with her, saying, "I can't promise that I would be able to keep my hands off you."

Matilda smiled flirtatiously and responded, "I'm not asking you to, but I don't want to get pregnant yet."

Devin thought about it for a while and agreed, "Okay, but I don't want to use protection with you. I want everything to go deep into your womb."

"Fine. I will get pills later," Matilda said before their lips met again.
