Chapter 284 – You are a heartless monster
Robin knew that Mara was not paralyzed and had no intention of revealing everything at once. He only wanted to approach Martin closely before making his move.0
Martin was afraid that Robin was trying to deceive him, considering Robin's intelligence. However, he couldn't help but feel anxious about the revelation.
"What are you talking about?" he asked seriously. Robin felt like he was getting closer to his goal and negotiated,
"I will tell you when I see you."
Martin couldn't allow it, knowing that Robin's presence would only bring trouble. He would be foolish to risk his life just to hear whatever information Robin had about Mara.
But then again, what could Robin possibly know about Mara that Martin didn't already know?
"You're lying. You're trying to trick me," Martin said seriously. Robin was disturbed by the thought of Sabrina and Mara being together.
After finding evidence of Mara's obsession with Martin, which caused her to despise Sabrina, Robin knew that even if Martin didn't harm Sabrina, Mara would.
His heart ached knowing he was too far away from his loved one to protect her.
This was the moment Sabrina needed him the most, and he had to be there for her.
"Martin, you need to keep your sister away from Sabrina until I arrive. She's even responsible for killing your parents," Robin revealed, his anger burning within him.
He wanted Martin to understand the gravity of the situation and realize that keeping his sick sister close to Sabrina was dangerous.
Unfortunately, Martin didn't believe him.
"Stop lying, Robin," Martin said in an indifferent tone. "Our parents died in an accident. How could Mara be responsible? She was just a child when it happened."
Martin's disbelief didn't make sense to Robin, but he refused to give up. Deflated, he knew he couldn't let Martin go.
He also realized that if he could keep Martin on the line until they lost signal, it would mean he was at the mansion. Robin had to get there before the culprit escaped.
Getting into his car, he sped towards the tracker's direction, continuing to speak as he drove.
"I have undeniable evidence. It was obtained from her hacker. Martin, we need to have a conversation," Robin struggled to maintain composure as he spoke.
Martin hesitated, realizing that Mara had been unable to reach the hacker for quite some time.
How was Robin able to contact the same hacker that Mara couldn't? No, Martin refused to be easily fooled.
"I find it hard to believe," Martin replied, abruptly ending the call and switching off his phone.
Despite his certainty that Robin was attempting to deceive him, why did he feel such unease in his heart?
He turned to Sabrina, finding solace in her presence.
"Your ex-husband is attempting to deceive me into meeting him."
Sabrina's heart raced upon learning that Robin had returned and was aware of her abduction. A faint smile appeared on her lips, confident that Robin would soon come to her rescue.
He is not my ex-husband. He is my best friend," Sabrina said with a smile, causing Martin's heart to ache.
Previously, she used to speak about Robin with bitterness, but now the same man who had broken her was the reason for her smile.
"After everything he did to you, you still consider him a friend?"
Martin asked, irritation evident in his voice. Perhaps he should consider developing a chemical that could erase all traces of Robin from Sabrina's mind.
"It wasn't his intention. The way he behaved during our marriage was all because of Zayla," Sabrina replied, annoyed and unsure why she was even explaining herself to him.
Martin smiled bitterly.
"Why is it so difficult for you to give me a chance? I can treat you better than he ever did," he said, his expression filled with pain.
Sabrina smiled bitterly and responded,
"You are not a good person, Martin. Your actions make that obvious. But tell me the truth, is Mara your sister?"
Martin realized that he couldn't deny the truth any longer. "What if she is? We all have secrets," he admitted, acknowledging that he already had a sense of this fact.
Sabrina's face turned pale as she instantly grasped the truth. Although she had suspected it, no one had ever said it to her directly, except for her father, whom she had refused to believe at the time.
Now, she had a sinking feeling that this was the reason why Robin had repeatedly warned her to stay away from Martin. However, her stubbornness had prevented her from heeding the advice.
"You're heartless," Sabrina accused, her anger rising. "After everything she's done to me, you're protecting her? You never let me have justice, and now you're asking me to give you a chance?"
Sabrina felt foolish, and she partly blamed Devin for his role in introducing her to Martin in the first place. How could she have been so naive?
"You lied to me," Sabrina accused Martin again, her voice filled with anger and hurt.
Martin, however, showed no remorse, believing that the years he had spent waiting for her to be his justified his actions.
"Everyone lies, and besides, she's my only family," Martin defended himself, trying to justify his actions.
So, you would have been pleased if I had perished. You would have been content if Devin hadn't come to rescue me," Sabrina said bitterly.
Martin felt a pang of pain and slight remorse. He realized that, apart from waiting all these years, he had never truly done anything meaningful for her.
"How could I have found happiness when I have loved you my entire life? When I have refrained from entering any relationship because of you? All you care about is Robin this, Robin that. It doesn't matter if he mistreats you and sleeps with countless other women," Martin exclaimed angrily.
Sabrina shook her head and responded in a cold tone.
"Martin, Robin may have many flaws, but he has never lied to me. When he didn't love me, he never concealed it, and his actions reflected that truth. It was the same when he changed and even better when he discovered the lies Zayla had fed him," Sabrina explained.
Martin stared at her, his heart pierced by her words. He was at a loss for words as Sabrina continued.
"Martin, the devil I know is better than you, the unknown angel. You are a heartless monster."
