Chapter 291- Don't fret, my queen. I'll be alright
Mara was deeply troubled, consumed by intense pain. 2
As she witnessed Robin mercilessly beating Martin, who was too weak to defend himself, fear gripped her.
She dreaded the thought of Martin's potential death, knowing it would also mark the end of her own existence.
In that moment, Mara's eyes fell upon Sabrina, who stood idly by, making no attempt to intervene or stop Robin's brutality.
Anger surged within Mara, fueled by the belief that Martin's life hung in the balance and that Robin would eventually bring about her own demise as well.
A glimmer of hope flickered in Mara's heart when she noticed the gun lying beside her on the bed.
Initially, she contemplated using it against Robin, but hesitated, uncertain of the outcome.
Even if Robin were to perish, she feared that Sabrina would still emerge victorious, and Martin would continue to pursue her.
This predicament had originated with Sabrina, and it was only fitting that it should end with her.
Determination etched across her face, Mara aimed the gun at Sabrina's stomach, intending to ensure neither she nor her unborn child would survive.
Sabrina noticed movement out of the corner of her eye and swiftly turned in that direction, only to find a gun pointed directly at her.
Panic surged through her, causing her eyes to tightly shut.
"Mara, NO!" she screamed, fearing the worst as she heard the sound of the gun.
She hesitated to open her eyes, terrified of what she might see, until she heard a faint female voice pleading for the violence to stop.
"Uhm. Please stop," the voice begged.
Relieved to realize she was still alive and unharmed, Sabrina quickly opened her eyes to witness Mara on the floor, with Martin and Robin's legs pinning her down.
It appeared as though Robin was attempting to strangle Mara from his current position.
Sabrina couldn't comprehend how this situation had unfolded, but she noticed that Robin's one arm was draped across his other side, and droplets of blood were staining the marble floor.
"Robin, you've been shot," Sabrina exclaimed in shock, unable to comprehend how he had managed to rise from his previous position dealing with Martin to shield her from the bullet that had been aimed at her.
He had saved her life.
Sabrina stood by his side, swiftly removing her blazer.
"Please sit on the floor and let me attend to your wound," she urged, her face pale with worry.
She prayed that the bullet hadn't damaged any of his organs, especially since Robin only had one kidney, which happened to be hers.
Robin smiled weakly, wrapping his arm around her waist. "Don't fret, my queen. I'll be alright. Let me handle her."
Despite his smile, Sabrina could see the pain etched on his face.
"No, let me stop the bleeding first. Remember your blood type. I won't be able to donate blood in my current condition," she reminded him, causing him to freeze momentarily before complying.
Sabrina carefully removed his jacket, then his shirt, leaving him in his undershirt.
Guiding him to the floor, she pressed her blazer firmly against the wound, applying pressure to stem the bleeding.
The coldness of the floor was uncomfortable, but it was necessary to ensure she could exert enough force.
When Robin felt Sabrina's warm tears on his chest as she tried effortlessly to stop his bleeding, his heart sank.
He never wanted to see her cry, unless they were tears of joy.
He gently placed his hand on top of hers and reassured her,
"I will be fine, I promise."
Sabrina's eyes were filled with tears as she spoke in a shaky voice,
"That bullet was meant for me. How did you end up getting injured instead?"
She had never expected Robin to be the one hurt, considering the distance and their positions.
Mara, on the other hand, was upset. Even after Robin forcefully pulled her to the ground following her shot, she remained alert due to Sabrina's quick thinking, which prevented Robin from retaliating against her.
Mara was certain that the pressure Robin applied to her throat would have killed her if Sabrina hadn't intervened in time.
Robin acted on instinct when he heard Sabrina scream, moving quickly to prevent Mara from firing the shot.
Although he was relieved to be the one on the receiving end, his left chest was injured from the force he used to try and snatch the gun from her.
With his right hand, he forcefully dragged Mara's bloodied form back to the floor, intending to use his leg to choke her to death.
Mara, panting and coughing up blood, spotted the gun a few meters away and began crawling towards it through her own blood.
Despite missing the first shot, she was determined not to miss this opportunity.
As Sabrina focused on stopping Robin's bleeding, Mara reached out to grab the gun.
However, her fingers were stepped on, causing her to cry out in pain and catching Sabrina's attention.
Mara lifted her head, her teary eyes meeting the dark gaze of the general. She felt her breathing come to a halt.
The general squatted down, retrieving a handkerchief from his pocket to pick up the gun that lay on the floor. As he stood up, he callously kicked Mara in the face, causing blood to gush from her mouth.
The moment Robin made the call, the general swiftly cancelled all his plans.
With the assistance of his men, who had been tracking Robin, he arrived at the scene in a military chopper.
Thanks to the information Robin had provided through his men, the general was able to locate the closet instantly.
His sole purpose was to seek revenge for Matilda, and he was determined to achieve it.
Through his blurry eyes, Martin caught a glimpse of the general. He felt helpless, unable to save his sister, and soon slipped into unconsciousness.
Mara's head tilted to the side as the general kicked her once more. His eyes were filled with rage as he spoke coldly,
"You will pay for what you did to my daughter."
