Chapter 292 - "If you recover, I will give you more than just a kiss
Overwhelmed by the pain, Mara fainted just as the general turned his attention to Sabrina. He approached her and asked, 1
"How is he?"
"I'm fine," Robin managed to say in a weak voice, not wanting to reveal his vulnerability in front of Sabrina.
He was also secretly pleased with the attention he was receiving from her and was glad for the injury.
"The enemy hired a significant number of men, but my soldiers are assisting. I'll carry you to the ambulance," the general stated, effortlessly lifting Robin from the ground as if he were weightless.
Sabrina followed in astonishment, suddenly recalling that he was a military man with much greater strength than an average person.
Outside, Sabrina understood why Robin had instructed her to stay behind. Daniel, Devin, and Laura had all sustained injuries, but the general's men had subdued the individuals Sabrina recognized as the ones who had ambushed them.
Is he okay?" Daniel asked, concern clouding his mind as he saw Robin perched on the general's shoulder.
In that moment, he momentarily forgot about his own injuries to his face and arms.
"He'll be fine. He got shot," the general revealed. Laura's face paled at the news, but when Sabrina approached her, she frowned and asked,
"How long have you been a spy?"
Forcing a smile and enduring the pain from her injuries, Laura honestly replied,
"I wasn't brought here to be your secretary, but rather your bodyguard. That's my profession."
Laura didn't think Robin would be upset that she had told Sabrina the truth, considering Sabrina already knew she was a spy.
Moved with gratitude for Robin, Sabrina shed a tear. Devin, despite his own pain from sustaining bruises, wiped her tears away.
Those assassins had proven to be formidable opponents, and Devin was certain that if it weren't for Laura's professionalism, he and Daniel would have been dead by now.
"How long have you known that Laura was a spy?" Sabrina asked Devin as the ambulance arrived and the general walked towards it, still carrying Robin.
She had wanted to ask Devin in the car earlier, but there was no time because of Martin and his men. Devin forced a smile and replied,
"Sabrina, I found out too late that Robin had secretly been protecting you even before he discovered your pregnancy."
Sabrina's tears continued to roll down her cheeks as she froze upon hearing Devin's words as he continued to say,
"The evidence we found at the penthouse while trying to prove Matilda's innocence? That was all Robin's doing."
Numb with emotion, she quickly made her way towards the approaching general.
The fact that Robin had fallen in love with her a long time ago and had been secretly watching over her filled her with joy.
It was a wonderful feeling to love someone and be loved in return.
The general hurled the gun at one of his men and commanded,
"Bring the two individuals inside. Their suffering has only just begun."
Surprisingly, Sabrina's heart was warmed by his harsh words. She knew that the general would take care of Martin and Mara now that Robin was injured.
She couldn't help but recall what he had done to the person who had betrayed Matilda years ago, and it filled her with satisfaction.
After the general entrusted Robin to the paramedics, Sabrina joined the ambulance. Concerned for her well-being, the general asked,
"Sabrina, have you eaten today?"
He worried about her condition and wanted to ensure she was taking care of herself.
He vowed to make Martin and Mara suffer before their eventual demise for endangering a pregnant woman like this.
He couldn't also be certain if Cobby was aware of everything that had transpired, but he was confident that Cobby wouldn't take it lightly.
Sabrina stood frozen, realizing that not only had she not eaten anything, but she also had no appetite for food.
Despite feeling guilty for being mean to her babies, she couldn't help but feel that it wasn't entirely her fault. She never intended to end up in a place like this in the morning.
Forcing a smile, she turned to him, overwhelmed with guilt. "Daddy, how can I eat when he is injured?"
Her voice trembled with tears, but the general remained calm, knowing that Robin would be fine.
He smiled reassuringly at her and said,
"Your condition demands it, and he would be even more worried if he realized you haven't eaten."
Sabrina forced another smile and wiped away her tears, assuring him,
"I will grab something at the hospital."
The general nodded in agreement before allowing the ambulance to proceed.
Arriving at the hospital, Sabrina followed them to the operating room, adamantly refusing to leave Robin's side. The medical team grew increasingly frustrated, fully aware of how important she was to Robin.
Sabrina's birthday party had already garnered her significant attention, and coupled with the news of her abduction, it was clear that this was the reason for Robin's injuries.
"Ma'am, please understand," the doctor pleaded with her, but Sabrina clung tightly to Robin's hand and replied,
"No. I need to be here. I'll just stand and watch."
She knew the doctors had a job to do, but she couldn't bear to leave Robin's side when he was in this condition because of her.
The doctor, visibly frustrated, forced a calm smile and said, "I'm sorry, but this is a restricted area. You'll have to excuse us."
Sabrina was resolute in her decision to stay by Robin's side until he opened his eyes and weakly smiled.
"My queen, I'll be alright, I promise."
His voice sounded hoarse and his face had paled. Sabrina hesitated for a moment before she gently pressed her lips against his, her tongue delicately exploring the corners of his mouth in a matter of seconds.
Robin felt it was the most passionate and brief kiss they had ever shared, and he would have asked for more if he wasn't injured.
As she pulled away, Robin's smile widened and he asked, "If I recover, will you give me more of this?"
Sabrina leaned in, her voice a soft whisper in his ear, "If you get better, I will give you more than just a kiss."
