Chapter 294 – Miss James, Mr. Jewel would like to see you
A tear trickled down Sabrina's cheek, but she swiftly brushed it away. The information overwhelmed her, making it difficult to process.0
"Please, Miss James, if I don't return this authorization to the accounts department, all the goods he shipped for his various companies will be returned, and he would suffer significant financial losses," Aria's voice echoed in Sabrina's mind once more before she responded.
"Let me take a look."
Aria handed her the document, and Sabrina sank onto the visitors' bench, finally realizing how numb her legs had become from standing for so long.
As she perused the contents of the document, it became evident that Aria had been truthful. Sabrina appended her signature without hesitation.
Aria smiled gratefully and uttered,
"Thank you. I'll leave now."
She left, but Sabrina still felt numb. Matilda and Lizzy sat beside her, and Matilda patted her on the back.
"Do you see now? Your love was not in vain," Matilda said, recalling their earlier discussion.
Sabrina remembered their conversation and asked,
"Why didn't you tell me? Are you even my friend?" She asked with disappointment.
Matilda sensed her upset and let out a bitter smile.
"I wanted to, but Devin thought it wouldn't be good to put ideas in your head, especially after the traumatic experience with Mara. He also mentioned that Robin wanted to win your love like a man, without resorting to manipulation or good deeds."
Sabrina managed a sad smile. Throughout her life, she had only loved one man. It was overwhelming for her to realize that he had secretly loved her as well, or rather, he hadn't even known he was in love with her despite his actions betraying him.
"Thank you for letting me know, but I already figured out that he loved me. We talked about it, and he said he had loved me all along. At first, I didn't believe him, but if I had known all this, I would have been more obedient to him."
She remembered all those times with Martin when Robin was her enemy.
"It wasn't your fault. You both were being manipulated," Matilda comforted her.
Remembering that she was pregnant, Sabrina let out a sad smile.
"I'm happy that we still have each other, and we are going to have twins too. We have a lot of years to prove our love to each other," she said fervently.
She didn't want to go back on her words, but after all the revelations, she felt that if she was foolish to love Robin when he portrayed himself as a monster, then why not give it another try when he promised to love her only?
"What about the plan? Are you still going ahead with it?" Matilda reminded her of her plan to test Robin to prove himself that he did not love her because of the pregnancy.
"Yes, I am. So, you better start making the arrangements when the time is right," she said seriously.
Matilda pursed her lips, hoping that Robin wouldn't fail the test when the time came.
"Okay, but we haven't told your father about your predicament. If he asks about it, I don't think there would be a need to hide it from him anymore," Matilda added.
Sabrina agreed. It was a relief that her father was unaware, so he wouldn't suffer a heart attack. But now that everything was over, she missed him and wanted to see him.
"Yes, so where is he?" Sabrina asked.
"He's at the office. You weren't there, so he had a lot to do. Devin told me to inform him that you two decided to take a short trip and will be back later in the day," Matilda Explained, Sabrina smiled slightly and shook her head.
"And he actually believed it?"
"Not completely, but he said he would continue calling both of you. Lizzy had to prevent him from listening to the news, but I think he knows now."
"I should call him to reassure him that I'm okay," Sabrina thought, but Lizzy stopped her.
"Don't bother. He's already on his way to the hospital. I'm just relieved that you're okay, sis. When Daniel told me they were going on the trip because of you, I had no idea you would get hurt," Lizzy recounted, a mix of sadness and excitement in her voice.
Which trip?" Sabrina asked, her confusion evident in her voice as she tried to make sense of her sister's confession.
"The Saturday trip," Lizzy reiterated, prompting Sabrina to recall that Robin had mentioned surprising her.
"Robin said it was a surprise, but I can't help but wonder what they went to do," she mused, deep in thought. Matilda chimed in, offering an explanation.
"I overheard Devin talking to Robin on the phone. He was in the kitchen, so I put it on speaker and heard him mention that they had tracked down Mara's hacker."
"Devin wanted to go with them, but Robin insisted he stay and take care of you. They've been searching for Mara for quite some time now."
"All this time, I believed she was dead, only for her to resurface like a ghost," Sabrina recounted, her voice tinged with fear as she grappled with the gravity of the situation.
You're going to be okay, and that's what matters," Lizzy reassured, and the three of them embraced with other in a group hug.
Their tender moment was abruptly interrupted by Devin, Daniel, and Laura. Laura spoke up, saying,
"Miss James, I'll be leaving now, but will I see you tomorrow?"
Sabrina shook her head and replied, "I'll be working from the hospital. I need to take care of him."
"I understand, but I'll still keep an eye on you," Laura said.
"Thank you, Laura," Sabrina expressed her gratitude, while Lizzy and Matilda hugged Daniel and Devin.
Sabrina's gaze lingered longingly at the theatre door, which unexpectedly swung open.
Miss James, Mr. Jewel would like to see you," a voice announced. She felt a surge of excitement rush through her stomach as she made her way to the door.
