Chapter 299 – Sabrina Taunts Shandra

Sabrina arched an eyebrow, curious about what kind of conversation she could possibly have with someone like Shandra.

Despite her reservations, she decided to give it a chance and replied, "Alright."

Robin, on the other hand, was filled with apprehension. He feared that Shandra would fabricate lies to upset Sabrina.

It was unfortunate that he was in pain and unable to physically remove Shandra from the situation before she caused any trouble.

Trying to ease Robin's worries, Sabrina reassured him,

"Don't worry, I can handle this."

However, her words did little to alleviate the fear that had settled in his heart.

He motioned for her to come closer and whispered urgently,

"Please don't believe anything she tells you. You know you're the only woman I love."

Sabrina couldn't help but laugh as she heard the fear lacing his voice. She never imagined that Robin, of all people, would be so afraid when it came to matters of love.

"I never expected to see you like this," she said, her words filled with honesty. Robin tried to put on a tough facade, asking in a raspy voice,

"Are you making fun of me?"

Sabrina burst into even more laughter as she took in his appearance and his fake raspy voice.

"Maybe I should capture this moment with a picture," she said playfully. Robin forced a smile, trying to calm his fears.

It was the first time he had made her laugh so hard since they had known each other, and it warmed his heart to see her like that. It eased his own pain tremendously.

Okay, promise me that you'll fill me in on every detail of your conversation," he whispered. Sabrina chuckled and responded,

"If it'll make you feel better, I will."

"Thank you," Robin said, exhaling a breath he hadn't realized he was holding.

Once the two women exited, Matilda trailed behind them from afar, prompting Devin to stay with Robin.

Robin turned to him and asked, "Could you please ask the doctor for some pain medication?"

It felt like all the pain had come rushing back the moment Sabrina walked out with Chandra.

Robin felt as though she had torn his heart out of his chest and carried it away with her, leaving him determined to keep her close to him from now on.

It seemed to him that his love for his ex-wife grew stronger every single day, and he felt a great sense of pride.

Devin laughed and playfully teased him, saying,

"So, you're trying to be a tough guy by hiding the pain. Not bad."

He pressed the bell, and a few minutes later, the doctor entered the room.

"Mr. Jewel, are you still interested in being discharged?" the doctor asked, teasingly.

He and Robin were friends, but they had argued because the doctor had suggested putting Robin under observation.

Robin still felt a lingering resentment towards him because Sabrina had taken the doctor's side.

Robin shook his head and replied icily, "I require painkillers."

The doctor recognized his aversion to hospitals and didn't take his cold demeanor seriously.

After administering the pain medication, the doctor instructed the nurse to check his vitals before he left, ensuring everything was in order.

Devin grinned and remarked to Robin,

"You're making excellent progress with my sister."

Robin smiled in agreement, knowing it to be true. He understood that it wouldn't be easy, but he was relieved that he hadn't given up because he knew his life without Sabrina would never be the same.

From the moment he signed those divorce papers, he realized his mistake but was too proud to admit it.

If he had acknowledged his mistakes, he would have started making corrections. However, he would not have discovered the extent of the evil surrounding Zayla, so everything seemed fine.

"I suppose when your intentions are pure, things tend to work out in your favor," Robin pondered, as Devin sat on a vacant chair by his bedside.

"You're absolutely right."

At the hospital cafeteria, Sabrina sat across from Shandra, who continued to glare at her in silence.

Sabrina glanced at her wristwatch and warned, "I don't have all night, so I hope you won't mind if I leave."

She despised the way Shandra stared at her without uttering a single word and felt compelled to remind her that her time was valuable.

Shandra gazed at Sabrina, perplexed as to why Robin refused to let her go even after their divorce.

She couldn't see anything that Sabrina possessed that she herself did not have.

In terms of finances, Shandra could confidently claim to be wealthier than Sabrina, as she was an only child.

Sabrina, on the other hand, had to share her possessions with her sister and brother.

"What is it that you want from him?" Shandra asked, her tone serious.

Sabrina burst into laughter, surprised at how much she found herself laughing despite the tumultuous start to her day with the abduction.

"I don't think I can answer that question," Sabrina replied with a smile. Neither of them had ordered anything, and now they stared at each other with intense glares.

"I have loved Robin from the moment I laid eyes on him, and yet he chose to marry you. You're not even his usual type," Shandra said bitterly.

When she had the chance to date Robin, he never even considered proposing until she moved away, and a few years later, he married Sabrina.

Their divorce was expected, but Shandra couldn't understand why it brought them closer than their marriage ever did.

Sabrina knew that Shandra wouldn't remember her from their school days since Sabrina was younger, but she wondered what Shandra believed Robin's type to be.

"What exactly is his type? I'm a bit confused," Sabrina asked honestly, her smile unwavering.

"Sabrina, if you were his type, then why was he with all those other women when he married you?" Shandra asked mockingly, resurrecting the memories Sabrina had tried to bury but somehow, she had gotten over it and was now stronger than before.

However, it was also not something she would want to discuss with the likes of Shandra.

"That's not something I feel comfortable discussing with you. Our marital issues are private."

"What did you do to him?" Sandra asked condescendingly.

Sabrina laughed and retorted, "What do you think I did to him? He's the one who pursued me. So, if I may ask, why do you still want him after all these years?" Sabrina taunted, relishing in the sight of Shandra's frowning face.

If Shandra thought Sabrina would cower in her presence like her employees, she was mistaken.

"Or let me put it this way, why haven't you been able to find a man? Is it because you're not attractive enough?" Sabrina taunted, fueling Shandra's anger.1
