Chapter 206 - Robin would not stop
Mara had no way around it and Martin had even forgotten about asking her to sign the company over to him because this seemed to be more important.1
Even if he had the company, he would never be able to go there if indeed a video about him drugging Sabrina went viral.
He removed his suit and loosened his necktie.
Mara's teeth ground together, making it taste like powder in her mouth when she reluctantly dialed Peter's number, hoping that he wouldn't answer the phone to expose anything about their relationship to Martin.
Lucky for her, he did not answer the call, even to the fourth ring.
However, she was also afraid since something like that had never happened before.
Pete would always answer her call on the first ring but this was the fourth with no answer.
She panicked when the realization began to dawn on her that the hacker could mess her up big time.
She didn't even know where he lived to go look for him because never in her life had she thought that Pete would become so important to her.
He was always there for her at any time and without him, she lost her power because no hacker was as good as him.
"Martin, he's not answering my calls."
Martin was suspicious, fearing that this hacker had been bought over or something, thinking it was rude for him to not answer Mara's calls but what if he had turned against her for whatever reason Martin could not lay a finger on?
The fear in Mara's eyes said so many things and he was certain that things were not so simple.
"Then we should move out of here," he suggested after a little thought but Mara was not comfortable with the idea.
This mansion was designed by her for her comfort and she did not see any other mansion that would service her disguised needs like this one.
Also, the location could not be tracked because of where it was built and the special stones around that mansion to help in hiding signals when they get close.
Mara invested so much into this mansion that she could not just leave.
Even if the police or somebody broke into the mansion, she had a place to hide and would never be found.
If there was a fire outbreak, she would still have a place of safety.
This mansion was her heaven and she did not see herself going anywhere else.
"But why?" She asked, trying not to openly express her disapproval.
Martin gasped and revealed, a little afraid,
"Robin would not stop."
Robin's name scared her but if that was Martin's reason for running away, then did it mean that he would never work in the company again? She thought to ask,
"What about the company?"
Martin thought about it already, having it all sorted out.
"I will be communicating with the managers to direct them on what to do but for now, we have to go," he said seriously but Mara was reluctant.
Thinking it was because of her condition, he said to her,
"We will take Anna along but the rest of the maids can stay back until there is a need to return."
"Where shall we go?" Mara asked again, not imagining any place of comfort like this mansion.
Martin shook his head looking lost when his face was already terrible looking with all the swells and dry blood patches and bruises.
"I don't know but for now, a hotel will be best."
Mara found a greater reason to disapprove of his suggestion.
"Have you forgotten that I can't be moving around? This place is safe. No one would find us," she retorted adamantly, hiding her fears of how Martin would feel if he found out she was pregnant and could move about.
"Alright but I brought the document for you to sign," Martin suddenly recalled and said whilst opening his briefcase but Mara's expression changed at the mention of the documents, knowing that she would indeed lose control over Martin if she signed it off.
"Martin, can't it wait a while? You haven't changed the JCs Mineral and Clothing into my name yet. Please finish it up and add it to the clause and then you can have everything."
"Mara?"
Martin was not stupid and could feel something off but Mara feared losing control over him, thereby saying,
"Martin, I know that you still love her so I have to get proof that she has nothing. That is my last revenge on her for making me like this," Mara shrugged but Martin was furious for being played and also about her allegation against Sabrina.
"You are the one who tried to kill her. It was your karma to get hit by a car so how is that her fault?"
Mara's eyes turned glassy, as she felt jealous at how he passionately defended Sabrina. It only increased her hate for the latter.
"So, you are on her side."
Martin was greatly angered and had also had enough.
"Just stop it, Mara. Sabrina never wronged you. You are the one who has always been on her tail," he spoke the hard truth, which Mara never heard him say before.
Perhaps Sabrina hating him now was the reason for his boldness to be able to correct his mistakes before it was too late.
"And you love her more than me, your sister," Mara said in a sad tone, wishing that she could tell him they were not related but that would also destroy everything.
"What are you saying? I can never love both of you the same way.
What I feel for you is different from what I feel for her but thanks to you, she hates me now," Martin said bitterly, closing back the briefcase since Mara showed no sign of signing off everything until the JCs crumbled but Martin already knew that that was impossible.
He just wasn't going to tell Mara yet but was sure that she would eventually hear of it in the news very soon.
"And you want me to sign off everything so you can give it back to her?" Mara asked in annoyance, as if reading his mind but Martin only shook his head with disappointment,
"You just have to keep your word. You know what? I'm going to my room."
The next day, Martin dressed up and was ready for work.
His face looked better than yesterday and it was when he was having his breakfast and decided to check the latest news when shock electrified his body at what was trending.
