Chapter 117 – Same blood group
Zayla tensed from her side of the line. She never expected Robin to ask the driver to come and pick her but to rather come himself like he did Sabrina. However, if she dared go to the hospital now, then Robin would find out there was nothing in her stomach.2
She bit her bottom lip bitterly. Sabrina was out of Robin's life but still had all of his attention. "No, Robin, what I mean to say is that I miss you," Zayla quickly changed her mind. She just wanted Robin out of the hospital but even that seemed impossible.
"I will be home tonight, Zayla," Robin said with a slight annoyance in his tone. He thought it was something important for which reason he had to rush out of Sabrina's ward to answer it but now, she said it was nothing.
"I'm in your office and you aren't here," Zayla accused him. It annoyed her that even after spending the night at the hospital with Sabrina, he still had not returned to the office when it was already mid-morning.
His stupid secretary also refused to allow her into the office with the excuse that Robin was not around so she had to wait at the reception like everyone else. Thinking that Robin was going to apologize, he rather said,
"You should inform me before coming over next time. I am a very busy man."
Zayla was hurt and recalling what her father said about the party, she felt to test and see if Robin indeed intended to go without her.
"Robin, do you have any plans for the weekend? Like Saturday evening?"
"Yes. I have a place to be with Daniel," Robin responded from his side of the line. He had to heed Cobby's warning to not bring Zayla close to Sabrina, for which reason he made it so.
"Can I come?"
Zayla sounded pitiful but only incurred Robin's annoyance. Whereas Zayla had indeed always been troublesome, wherever Sabrina was concerned.
"No. It's not safe for a pregnant woman. You are three months away and should begin staying away from parties," Robin thought and said since he could not tell her directly that he did not want her there because of Sabrina.
"But it's not a problem," Zayla countered, testing how far he would go to keep her from attending the party.
"It is for me. We shall talk more when I return and I want to have a feel of your bump so get ready, Zayla."
After having a feel of Sabrina's little protrusion, Robin could not wait to feel that of Zayla's too. Zayla was suddenly sweating on the phone and responded in a small voice, "okay."
When Robin went back to the ward, Sabrina was sleeping so he went back to working on his laptop.
Sabrina was not asleep but pretended to, just to avoid having any conversation with him. He received a few business calls and would reschedule them all. Robin was determined to not leave Sabrina's side today.
Through her pretense, Sabrina fell asleep until Robin woke her up for lunch. "God, must I say that I'm jealous of how you could sleep so peacefully?"
Robin did not know that she had not slept as much as he thought since she was only pretending but Sabrina was not going to tell him.
"I guess it's the life you choose for yourself. When you have a lot of women to deal with, you have more problems," she shrugged. Robin laughed bitterly. It was too late for him to correct his wrongs and due to Zayla, he also understood that he did not stand a chance with Sabrina.
"Sabrina, I hope one day, you will understand."
Sabrina chuckled but did not speak. After the meal, she decided to go for a walk so Robin went with her. He held her hand, in spite of her refusal whiles they walked around. Robin did not care that people were watching and he did not care if it appeared in the news but Sabrina was uncomfortable.
"Robin please leave my hand."
She tried to pull her hand away but Robin would only hold it tighter. She wished it was already night, so she'd be discharged. She did not want to be anywhere with this Robin. She was used to the indifferent Robin, who showed her no care.
"What if you fall or someone carries you away? It's safer like this," Robin said, right before his warm hands wrapped safely against hers. Sabrina was gritting her teeth all through till she decided to end it.
"I think I will return to the ward."
Robin frowned, as his eyes dulled. It was painful for him when she kept pushing him away like this.
"No, lets walk like this for ten more minutes. I promise I won't say a word."
His voice was pleading and since he said ten minutes, Sabrina did not refuse. They walked for ten minutes or so before returning to the ward.
As the evening approached, Sabrina's excitement was evident, unlike Robin who looked lonely. When he went to take care of the bills and later returned to glance through the discharge form, he noticed Sabrina's blood group on her test results and asked,
"You are AB negative?"
Sabrina froze slightly and asked sarcastically as if she did not Know, "why? Is there anything special about my blood group?"
Robin smiled but it was a shameful one. For three years, he did not even know his wife's blood group.
"Yeah, it's the same as mine. I thought Zayla was the only one who had it."
Sabrina raised her brows raised suspiciously but she soon acted normal. She knew that Zayla did not have an AB negative blood group but for what ever Robin had going on with Zayla, she did didn't care anymore.
"Good for you. Devin would come and take me home."
Robin refused. He wanted to know where she was going to live since he would be going there during the weekends when she was not in the office. "I am taking you home. You just have to give me your address."
