Chapter 218 – Feeling ashamed to feel that way

"Dad, the cops went to Martin's office to arrest him but he was not there," Devin said to the hearing of Robin, indirectly informing him of the outcome and also requesting Martin's home address since it would be a shame to say that he did not know.1

Cobby scoffed and gulped down a glass of water upon hearing the news. 

It was not surprising that Martin left his office unattended to avoid getting arrested.

"He can't hide since his company is at stake and you should know his house. He needs to be arrested and he has to pay for what he did to your sister," Cobby said with a grim expression.

"I intend to send them to his house tomorrow," Devin said, stealing glances at Robin. 

Knowing what he wanted, Robin brought out his phone and sent the directions to Martin's mansion to him.

Devin smiled after seeing the message with gratitude plastered on his face.

"Everything is stabilized at the company too and none of the investors have withdrawn, only more have been on the application list," Sabrina said.

Robin smiled but did not say a word. Just glad that she was able to continue handling things as they should be.

She was not in a hurry to bring more investors on board, which was also understandable.

"That is good news," Cobby remarked before he asked,

"Brina, we hope that going to court will not be too hard for you."

Before Sabrina could respond, Devin said,

"Dad, the lawyers would do most of the talking. She wouldn't have to say much because the video shows everything. Besides, she doesn't even remember."

Sabrina was grateful for the arrangement because she had secretly thought about it before and knew that since the public was aware because of the videos, things might be broadcast live. 

She never liked the limelight and was worried about this part.

"You are right. We should eat," Cobby urged all of them and they obeyed. A few minutes later and halfway through their meals, Devin asked,

"So, Dad, what about all the money you pumped into the company? Technically, Martin doesn't have the shares so isn't the company too rich now? Are you going to withdraw and hide it in the trust fund like before?"

The father and son knew that the question was directed at Robin so Cobby said,

"Robin, you have been very quiet. You are partly a part of this family so what do you suggest that I do? I brought out all the money in our trust fund to invest in the business again. Do you think I should return it?"

Robin wiped the corners of his mouth with a napkin before he responded,

"Investing it in the business is not a loss and will still generate income so my suggestion is to leave it there."

Indirectly, he was not taking back the money. 

Well, he wanted his ex-wife back, feeling like she was already his wife since he would never allow any man close to her.

As such, whatever he owned, equally belonged to her.

"That is not a bad suggestion. I will still think about it before deciding on what to do," Cobby said wisely so no one suspected exactly what had transpired except for the three men involved.

However, judging from the random exchange of glances between them, Matilda discerned that Robin had offered his help but then again, she would never tell anyone about her suspicions, though she wished Sabrina would be on the knowing list. 

Lizzy remembered what Devin said about Martin and grew worried since she would have to be in the office whenever Devin wasn't there.

"Devin, you promised to give me the day off when you knew you had to get the cops to Martin's house."

She did not want to sound accusing but also sent her message politely. Devin smiled and said to her,

"No. I will just give them the location and they will go there. I don't have to follow them."

"Much better," Lizzy smiled, as she felt relieved to be able to focus on making her sister the star of the night once again.

When they were done with dinner, Robin said to Sabrina, 

"Dear one, are you ready now? I have to take you for your daily walk."

Sabrina was feeling lazy because she was very satisfied and created an excuse, "Matilda and Lizzy are here. You must be tired too."

Robin instantly disagreed. For whatever reason she did not want him to take her for the walk, he was not hearing it since it was part of his bonding time with her as well.

"Matilda and Lizzy did not get you pregnant. Please, stand up, and let's go." 

He was already standing by her side as soon as the words left his mouth, but Devin and Cobby smiled.

It gave them the satisfaction that Robin might indeed not need their help in getting his ex-wife back.

Sabrina stood up with a frown on her face but when hit with the breeze after they stepped out, she felt good.

As they walked through the quiet streets with only the brightness of the streetlights, Robin took a risk and joined his hand to hers. 

Sabrina stiffened and Robin feared she would get upset and pull her hand away but she said nothing and neither did she pull her hand away. 

Gradually, she relaxed and Robin sighed with relief, whilst they walked quietly.

When they reached the mansion, Sabrina pulled her hand away and said, 

"Good night."

She did not wait for a response before entering the living room and closing the door, her heart rate quickening so much that she felt ashamed to be feeling that way.

Robin was left dumbfounded but swallowed his reservation since he did not see how her face crimsoned before she went in, only eager to see her the next day.

After he drove away from the mansion, he knew there was one last thing to do. 

Tactically avoiding Zayla's calls, it was time to get her to the party.
