Chapter 219 – Last favor

Robin arrived at his penthouse where he has not been for over three weeks now. Everything on the outside was alright.1

Security and everyone were at post and alert. 

He tried to open the door without knocking but it was locked from the inside so he knocked on it but there was no response.

He could hear the music coming from inside and knew that the evil woman was in there.

Good enough, he also understood the reason why the door was locked because the driver informed him that Zayla had not gone out for the past two days, and neither had she placed any orders for food or groceries.

It was late and Robin was surprised by the music playing in the penthouse when Zayla opened the door, clad in hot pants and a tank top that exposed her stomach. 

It was obvious that she was having an aerobic dance before walking to the door, judging by the sound of the music and how sweaty she looked.

When she saw Robin at the door, shock gripped her and she ran into her room to get dressed, also putting on her fake bump.

Fears covered her mind as she wondered if Robin had seen her flat stomach. 

The last time she went to his office, she was wearing her fake bump but since it's been a long time, she hoped that Robin had forgotten or not seen.

The old Robin would have asked questions but not this one since he did not want to drop a hint. 

Walking around the living room, he picked up the remote and silenced the music. 

Surprisingly, everything was tidy, which meant that given the hard circumstances, people would change but it also heavily depended on whether they'd become salt or shea butter.

Robin was also amazed by how Zayla still found a way to make herself very happy, even with the minimal budget he put her on.

Then again, it could be because of the money she was expecting. If he came back to see his home untidy and questioned her, what would she say?

In everything, there was just one thing that got Robin upset and that was her happiness. 

How could she be ever so happy and bubbly after all that she did to Sabrina? 

Robin was the one suffering for everything because he was the one living with the pain and loneliness of losing his wife.

The thought of revenge warmed his heart and he held it all in, waiting for her to come back, without bothering to sit down.

It was sympathetic by the way Robin felt like a stranger in a house he bought with his own money because of the evil woman he imprisoned there but that would change very soon. 

Once he gets her out of the way, he might just sell it since he does not want to keep any memory of her, good or bad.

Having already projected in his mind, he long decided that should Sabrina give him a second chance, he would ensure to make her the happiest woman in the world, so much so she would forget all the pain he caused her before.

That was Robin's only resolve.

"Sorry Robin, I had to change," Zayla said with unease at the same time as descending the stairs, looking at him keenly for any facial expression that would give her the concession of the thoughts in his mind yet, Robin's expression was just blank.

Unknown to her, her apology rather got him upset, though he knew it was because of the fake pregnancy.

"You didn't know who was at the door and yet you went to open it looking like that? If you have to hide your nakedness from someone, should that be me? Or maybe, you are comfortable around the security and driver." 

Indirectly, he was accusing her of having affairs with those he mentioned. 

Zayla's eyes turned glassy at the sound of those words and she debunked,

"No Robin. We haven't had anything since we moved in together so it feels weird."

Robin's only intention was to coax and get her to the party without dropping a hint of what he planned to do.

Therefore, he forced himself to relax and even smiled a little bit,

"How is the baby?"

"Good," Zayla responded, nervously, hoping to get the money and leave since the diamonds were fake. 

Also, it did not seem like things would ever work out between her and Robin, as his attitude was so terrible, that she began to agree with Sabrina that Robin treated the woman outside better than the one at home.

"Antenatal report?" Robin asked and fear covered Zayla's eyes, she stammered,

"I…I haven't gone because you said that we should always go together but you never answered your phone when I called multiple times," she whined with a miserable expression.

At the moment, she could not even tell if Robin was angry or sad or whether he was serious or joking. 

There was just a wall around him that she could not penetrate, no matter how she tried.

"Okay. We shall go again tomorrow," Robin said, trying to make out how she was able to tell the lies without his detecting them.

"Can't it be when I come back from visiting my mom in Florida? She's better but disappointed that I did not come. I just miss her," she said with a sad expression. 

"You should tell her to come," Robin advised and saw Zayla's countenance change. 

Grandma Cecilia already told him that Zayla's mother was a good woman so he could guess that it was either the woman did not know what her husband and daughter were doing or if she just did not want to be informed or be a part of it.

"She said she likes the weather there and my father misses her too," Zayla said thoughtfully, careful to avoid Robin's scrutinizing gaze.

This was the man she loved but everything changed by the way he slapped her, the fear she felt towards him was stronger than any love she ever felt before.

"Alright. Do one last thing for me and you can go and visit her since the money is ready."
