Chapter 229 – Don’t hurt the baby
Robin put a call through to Sabrina after ending the call with Daniel, not expecting her to answer the call since it was a weekend and she might be sleeping but to his surprise, she answered it.
"Robin?"
"Dear one, how are you today?" Robin asked with concern, wishing he was there but this was going to be the last time he was going to do something like this, for which reason it was easy for him to endure.
"I'm good. Are you here already?" Worry laced Sabrina's words when she asked, Robin's heart swelled a little, feeling that she was missing him but was also sorry to disappoint her.
"No. I wanted to tell you that I have something very important to do so I will see you in the evening."
There was a pause at the end of the line before Sabrina responded,
"Okay, I will eat your food on your behalf then."
Robin smiled, happy about how their relationship was growing.
She was even cracking jokes with him and he was grateful for her friendship.
This was something they never did, even when married.
"You should keep it for me. I will eat a double portion tomorrow."
Sabrina's voice, which sounded like music in his ears rang again,
"No. Tomorrow is another day and you already missed today."
Robin could feel the disappointment in her voice though it was on the phone and she was also jovial about it.
"I will make it up to you."
There was another pause before Sabrina responded,
"Since you aren't coming, I'm hungry and I'm going to eat."
"Enjoy your breakfast, dear one," Robin smiled when she ended the call.
He was a little nervous, hoping that she wouldn't take things wrongly.
Zayla was still sleeping when Robin descended the stairs but woke up sooner, rubbing her sleepy eyes and yawning, she asked him,
"When did you get back?"
Robin smiled and Zayla's heart warmed.
"A long time ago but you were sleeping."
Robin was in a good mood because his thanksgiving turkey was going to be sacrificed tonight.
Also, Sabrina would no longer have to worry about Zayla being a part of his life after today.
Zayla glanced at the candlelit dinner. Everything was still there, except the candles which had melted away and the food would have gone bad by now.
"Dinner is ruined."
Robin's smile did not falter. "I warned you."
"Then let me make you breakfast," Zayla suggested, being sure that if Robin tasted her cooking, then he would always come back wanting more.
Whereas, Robin felt that he would die before he ate anything prepared by a traitor.
He was only doing this to make the revenge sweeter.
"I'm not hungry."
Zayla was disappointed but since Robin promised to be coming home every day, she would just have to prepare something else for him another time.
With Robin smiling at her like this, she did not want to leave by her father's plan anymore but that also brought her mind back to her father's request.
"Robin, what about my dad?"
"Daniel will sort him out."
Zayla did not like the arrangement but was afraid of waking up Robin's bad temper if she tried to argue with him.
As they were talking, an idea crept into her mind.
Since it was Sabrina's birthday and knowing that she would be getting all the attention, Zayla could not endure it and thought about buying a dress that would take the attention off Sabrina.
"Okay, but I have to get a dress too."
Robin did not deny her request and answered,
"Okay, let's go."
Zayla was so shocked that she was running up the stairs like she was mad, Robin thought about giving her a little reminder.
"Don't hurt the baby."
Zayka froze when she realized she has forgotten her bump again.
It was because of how she lived for weeks without seeing Robin, she loosened her guard.
Robin's back was turned and confusion raked her mind as she wondered if he indeed noticed.
However, if Robin had, he would have questioned her.
At that thought, she kicked against her fears.
In a few minutes, she descended the stairs wearing her bump and enlarging it a little to suit the four-month pregnancy she was faking.
Robin drove her to a luxury clothing store and sat down.
"Pick whatever you want."
An attendant helped Zayla and she came out with so many bags that Robin thought about giving them to charity after she was gone.
He could tell that she had picked more things than necessary but he didn't mind.
It felt good for her to have a taste of happiness before being thrown into hell.
When he was driving back to the penthouse, Zayla said,
"I'm hungry."
"Robin did not respond and drove her to a luxury restaurant.
She delayed a lot, wishing that the paparazzi would come in and give them publicity but luck was not on her side.
After the meal, they drove back to the penthouse and Robin suggested that they have a good rest since the night was going to be long and Zayla agreed, since they already ate brunch.
When Robin woke up, he saw a text message from Daniel, confirming that everything was fine. He smiled, went out of his room, and knocked on Zayla's door.0
It took a while for her to come and get it and still a little sleepy as Robin said,
"It's time."
"Okay, I will go and freshen up," Zayla said and Robin went to do the same and waited for her downstairs.
When she appeared up the stairs, Robin intentionally said,
"You look nice and pretended to be on the phone, so he wouldn't have to hold her hand."

At Cobby's mansion, Sabrina was all dressed up and looking like the queen she was.
She, Lizzy, and Matilda kept complimenting themselves before thanking Lizzy for their dresses.
Sabrina's design, for instance, hid her bump perfectly and she looked so stunning.
Cobby never liked parties but could not miss this one so he asked his daughters,
"Is anyone joining me?"
"We'll go with Devin," they all refused.
Sabrina was rather expecting Robin since he said he would see her in the evening but Devin soon knocked on her door and asked,
"Are you ladies ready?"
"Yes, but Robin would be here, right?" Sabrina asked expectantly, since she had gotten used to having him as her driver.
Devin looked at her critically before he responded,
"No. He said I should bring you."
Sabrina's gaze lowered, turning to one of disappointment, everyone was surprised.
