Chapter 119 – Robin gets emotional

Sabrina was greatly annoyed, and so was Devin. The fact that Sabrina was carrying Robin's child did not mean he had the right to be in their space. 1

Glaring at Robin, Devin remarked, "Don't use pregnancy to worm your way into my sister's life."

"I'm already in it, Devin. Live with it," Robin barked. He was tired of Devin's all-righteous attitude. The guy could not even propose to a woman he loved if Robin had not incited Daniel to flirt with her a little.

"Well, my sister would never love you as she did. You had your chance," Devin taunted, and indeed, he hit a sore spot in Robin's heart which caused him to fight back.

"Oh, is it just me or Martin? Isn't it because you want him for your sister because he is your best friend?" Robin asked, daring him to refuse.

Since it was already an open secret, Devin could not refuse and said, "I won't deny that Martin is a better option than you."

Robin smiled bitterly. Devin might love his sisters, but he was not as smart as Robin thought. "I hope you remember these words when you find out who he truly is, but for as long as your sister is carrying my child, I have to take care of her."

"She doesn't need your care. Your presence only brings her pain," Devin revealed. Matilda felt bad for Robin, hoping that he does not give up on Sabrina.

Since Devin did not believe that Mara was alive, he would not be able to protect Sabrina from her.

Matilda realized that she still had not thanked Robin for his help in clearing her name and thought to find a way to do so at the party. Robin knew that Devin was right because Sabrina was never happy with his presence. She never smiled at him for once.

"And I'm working on changing that," he said solemnly, feeling that he was too strong on her and should perhaps soften a little.

Meanwhile, his resolve only turned out as a mockery to Devin. "Really? How is that even possible? How do you intend to do that? Can you send Zayla out of your life?"

Devin asked the hard questions, and all gazes pinned on Robin. He felt saddened and helpless to not be able to do the one thing that would make Sabrina happy.

"Zayla is carrying my child too. It's the only reason we are together, but Sabrina would have me anytime she wants. She just has to mention it."

Devin let out a humorless chuckle, planning on how to torment Robin. Since he said he would be there, Devin decided to leave the responsibilities of taking care of Sabrina on his shoulders.

"Alright then. Let's see how you take care of two pregnant women. Good luck."

No one spoke again, but Robin insisted that Sabrina would only ride with him when they drove to the mansion.

This time around, Devin did not stop him since he had already washed his hands off the matter.

Robin ensured that he got Sabrina everything she needed on their way, though she made it clear that she needed nothing.

It was only after they reached the mansion and he had seen Sabrina's room that he agreed to leave. As Robin got to Sabrina's father's mansion, he was filled with so much regret to think that she only married him for his money.

Sabrina lacked nothing and never did any chores, whereas she slaved herself when she was in Robin's villa.

Everything in the mansion left a bitter taste in Robin's mouth, making him understand that it would take more than taking care of Sabrina to win her trust again.

"Robin, since we shall see you often, it would be good to familiarize yourself with everyone. Let's start by having dinner together," Cobby suggested.

From the wisdom attached to his words, Robin would not be able to refuse the offer since he was not asking but making it a necessity for him to have dinner with them.

Sabrina thought about a few things while the family was having dinner in silence. Robin would be in her life whether she liked it or not, so he should feed her what she wanted to eat. There was no need to be shy about it since her pregnancy hormones demanded it.

"Robin, since you are partly a part of the family, I suggest that you take care of our dinner from now onwards. I would give our chef the evenings off without reducing his pay," she shrugged and spoke while eating her food.

Somehow, she did not get the satisfaction of this food like she did with the one Robin brought for breakfast and supper. Robin remembered that she had asked for the ingredients and steps, and he had given her the chef's number.

Putting two and two together, he knew that she wanted the food prepared by the senior chef at the Crystal Hotel. Robin felt he had Martin to thank for that. It was after he bought the hotel to ruin their date that he discovered how talented the chef was when he delivered Robin's lunch as a way of appreciation for the pay increase.

Robin was by then finding it hard to move on from Sabrina's meals, and this chef performed wonders. He never thought that even Sabrina would like his food so much.

"It's a deal. I will have him prepare and deliver anything you want to eat every day." Robin's eyes lit up when he saw a small smile on her face.

"Robin, how is business?" Cobby asked him.

"Well, probably the only thing I'm good at because it keeps growing every minute, and I'm thinking of opening more companies under the group."

It was not a secret that Robin was the business youngest business guru of his time. Not even the old business foxes could outsmart him.

"Won't it make you too busy?" Cobby asked with concern since Robin expressed interest in taking care of Sabrina.

"No. I give every company their CEO, and I meet with them once a month. I also allow them to operate independently."

Cobby's eyes widened since most of these CEOs who did not own the company could turn out to be something else. "Are they competent enough?"

"Very. There are checks and balances," Robin explained without giving the details.

"Impressive. I wish your father was alive to see how far you've taken the company. It was just a single corporation when he was alive, but within a few years, you turned it into a group and became the president instead of the CEO."

Robin lowered his head sadly and countered,

"He would still be ashamed of me, and you know why."

Cobby did not agree. He saw the changes in Robin, unlike before, when he was very arrogant towards him and irresponsible toward Sabrina.

"At least you are being responsible, so he would still be very proud of you."

A tear dropped down Robin's eyes, and he dropped his cutlery and quickly wiped the tears from his eyes. He could not understand the reason why Cobby was still so nice to him after all he did to Sabrina. It resurrected all the guilt buried inside of him.

"Thank you, Dad, I won't forget your kindness, but I have to go now."

Cobby nodded his head, permitting him to leave. Robin was still the son of his best friend, so he could not treat him any less. The atmosphere turned awkward as Sabrina suddenly asked,

"So, Matilda, how long have you been in love with my brother?"
