[Bonus chapter]Chapter 247 – Robin’s promises to Sabrina on her birthday

"Mara sent me," the man said hastily and opened the back door, stretching his hand to Martin again, with his leg on the accelerator.

Martin was surprised to hear that Mara sent the man and quickly lifted himself, grabbing hold of the man's hand.

Pain seared through his body from where the wheel spanner hit and his face from hitting the car door.

With force, he was shoved into the back seat since the door to the back was the closest to him.

When Devin saw what was happening ahead that the car which he thought to have crashed into Martin, was rather there to help him, he began to pick up his pace, panting heavily from exhaustion.

The doors were not closed but because Devin was close, the driver stepped on the accelerator, the car sped away but Devin was not ready to give up and even with no car and other drivers not willing to stop because they were afraid it might be the case of a feud between some mafia group or something, he jumped onto the car and grabbed the door before it closed.

Devin was hanging on the door of the speeding car, releasing punches with one hand as Martin screamed at the driver,

"Do something."

The driver turned the steering wheel to the right and due to the speed, Devin lost his balance, going down with the car door due to his grip on it.

He sustained a few bruises but kept cursing under his breath,

"Fuck you, Martin, I will find you again."

Devin was kicking the air as people stared at him like he was crazy, whilst he embarked on the long journey back to the hotel on his feet after memorizing the plate number of the car.

When he reached where the car was parked first, he picked up the wheel spanner and luckily met the owner of it at the entrance of the hotel, where he returned it with an apology, since the owner was driving out.

He went to the washroom to put his appearance together before going back to the party.

All the three spies with Martin had been caught and that made him feel a little better.

"Dear one, I will give you your birthday gift later but shall we dance?"

Despite all the dangers, Robin was determined to make her birthday worthwhile but it was still dependent on her.

Sabrina was reluctant, not wanting to make him feel that she was going to be his wife again.

It wasn't just because of Zayla but the brutality with which Robin treated her that night, almost turning her into a nanny for Zayla.

Sabrina had forgiven him but the memories were still fresh on her mind since everything that happened was just a few months ago.

"Robin, there is a lot we have to talk about."

"I know and there is so much I have to tell you but for your birthday party, can you pretend that our lives are problem-free and we were never even married? Let's just say, we are very good friends," Robin said, just to get her to the dance floor.

Sabrina welcomed the idea somehow since she was eager to forget the past.

To see Robin as just a friend and not her ex-husband sounded like a brilliant idea.

"Just for tonight?" she asked seriously, Robin responded with confirmation,

"Just for tonight."

Sabrina smiled and locked her hand with his, and he led her to the dance floor.

Everyone dancing before stopped and the gazes glued on them, as Robin pulled her close, not leaving any space between them.

Sabrina's heart was beating very fast, wondering if she made the right decision by agreeing to Robin's suggestion.

The things they were doing after their divorce, were things they never did in their marriage.

This was the reason why she felt as if she was living her daydreams of childhood and youthful days when she fell in love with Robin.

"Mr. Jewel and his ex-wife look good together. They should get married again."

The gossip began from the audience and Sabrina was becoming uncomfortable.

"It's true. They are meant for each other."

"They are so perfect together."

As the comments were ongoing with Robin's equally erratic heartbeat and insatiable desire, he had no idea that the comments were getting into Sabrina until she tried to pull away from him.

He held her tighter to his chest, afraid to be hit with cold without her warmth.

"Please don't."

Sabrina was trying hard to control her emotions and her body's betrayal by trying to keep her mind focused on the music which was also too romantic.

What she did not expect was when Robin went down on one knee, looking all elegant and breathtaking.

She would have thought he was going to propose but since there was no ring, she did not know how to feel about it.

Her life was at a standstill at the moment because some questions were still left unanswered.

They needed to have a very serious talk before she could decide on what to do but Robin was taking the bull by the horns, seizing every opportunity to immerse himself more and more deeply into her life.

"Sabrina, I have no one to blame for everything but myself. I was just desperate to please the woman who I thought saved my life but it was never my intention to hurt you."

Sabrina could feel that the words were coming from his heart and his expression was equally serious.

This was another vulnerable side of Robin Sabrina had never seen before and it brought tears to her eyes.

"I know that there is still a lot of pain in your heart because of everything that happened but I believe that you already forgave me as you said."

Robin tried to blink back the tears but his eyes were glassy and his voice teary.

"Sabrina, I admit that I want to marry you again and right all the wrongs but I also understand that you have a lot going on emotionally."

"However, in the presence of everyone present here, I promise to be there for you at all times. I promise to be your best friend, and I promise to never make you shed a tear unless it's tears of joy."

The audience was mesmerized by such sweet words, including the general and Cobby.

Even Lizzy and Matilda could not help but feel their heart taking a different rhythm.

They never thought that Robin could be so romantic.

"Dear one, I also promise that I would never allow any woman in my life again except you, even if you don't marry me again. I promise to be who or whatever makes you happy."

Everything going on was being reported live and a lot of people were excited for them, especially after hearing their story.

Those who were there for business were disappointed because Robin had not given anyone attention at the party except his ex-wife.

However, Sabrina had not made her intentions known, whilst looking at the man on his knees with tear-filled eyes, wondering if he was the same person she lived with for three good years.

There were so many tears in the eyes of the audience, as they heard his words but Sabrina had not given any response, whether good or bad, only shedding tears.

When Robin rose to his feet, he did not ask for permission, and pressed his lips on her forehead, as everyone began to applaud them.

At the same time, Devin walked in and his lips stretched into a thin smile, though he had no idea what was going on.2
