Chapter 157 – I want to kiss our baby, dear one.
Robin felt shameless indeed but also felt that it was not for the reason Devin spoke about so he decided to ignore him. 2
The truth about Sabrina's sacrifice for him made it easy for him to endure everything Devin was throwing at him.
"You suddenly lost your tongue, Robin?" Devin continued to taunt him but he just went to the door and knocked on it to Devin's shock.
He could not understand the reason why Robin would ignore him so easily.
Robin expected to see a maid but Sabrina stepped out, looking even more beautiful than he ever saw her. He was lost for words but for the most part, guilt lay heavily in his heart, as he wondered the reason why he never saw her like this before.
With just a little makeup, Sabrina stunned him with her morning look. He wished he had not signed the damn divorce papers before finding out the truth. Like everything would have been easier and he could have treated her as the queen she was.
Robin tried composing himself to not break down and however he managed to gain a little confidence, he had no idea, saying,
"Dear one, good morning."
He wished he could hug her and thank her for all that she did for him but also thought it best to not let her know that he found out the truth about her secret gift to him, so she wouldn't mistake his kindness as trying to compensate her for it.
Sabrina rolled her eyes at the fact that he called her by the name again.
"Good morning, Robin, it's good to see you in good shape." She was about to go and hug Devin when he chipped in,
"I told you he was fucking some bitches."
Sabrina rolled her eyes again but did not respond, only hugging her brother when he added as his arms wrapped tightly around her,
"In case he is not able to come in the evening, call me. I came because I was not sure he'd come as you said. Take care, Brina,"
"Take care, Devin."
After Devin sat back in his car, Sabrina took the roses from Robin. "Thank you. They are very beautiful and I will take them inside. Please give me a minute."
Robin smiled but could not respond. He just lost the confidence to tell her that she looked more beautiful than the roses. When she returned, he opened the door for her and asked,
"Has the chef been bringing your meals on time? Are you taking your vitamins? I think we have to go for a review the day after tomorrow."
Talking about the chef, an idea crossed Robin's mind and he sent a message to his chef at home. Though he did not want Zayla to be suspicious, he could not allow her to be enjoying so much luxury.
He found it abhorring to continue paying a chef to cook for a woman who destroyed his marriage and whose father killed his mother.
'You will begin working at the Crystal Hotel tomorrow.'
After getting an instant response, he sent another one to the cleaning company, 'I will not be needing the services of cleaners in my penthouse beginning tomorrow.'
He pressed the start button and began to drive after that. He would see how Zayla would be able to cook and clean all by herself.
"The chef has been good." Sabrina smiled and said while leaning her head on the backrest. Robin said politely,
"If you need anything else, please let me know."
Sabrina was surprised by his level of politeness and rolled her eyes, wondering what must have caused the change in him.
"So, what did you find in the villa? Do you want it for Zayla?" She asked but since her eyes were on the road as Robin drove, she did not see the darkness in his eyes at the mention of Zayla. He wished he could wipe her mouth from mentioning such an evil name as if it was going to pollute it.
"The villa is yours, Sabrina. I can never take it from you."
"I already gave it out," Sabrina smiled and spoke. She had no regrets since it was in the hands of a trusted person but Robin insisted,
"But it still belongs to you."
"So, what did you find out?" Sabrina asked curiously but Robin was ashamed to admit it. He smiled but it was filled with pain.
"Is there anything to find out?"
"Whatever caused you to faint might just be serious?" Sabrina pinpointed but Robin was just too embarrassed and lied,
"I didn't faint."
"I never thought your best friend was a liar and the security confirmed there was even a doctor," Sabrina refused to give up.
Robin thought of a way to escape her scrutiny. He gazed at her longingly and said,
"Maybe it was because you were all over the place when I got there. It's so difficult to not miss you."
Sabrina did not seem amused about what she thought to be a joke.
"I think you need a spectacle Robin, I am not Zayla. She should be the one you are missing."
Robin stared at her but she refused to look at him, keeping her gaze on the road. "Zayla means nothing to me."
"Tell that to me in another life. You know what, let's not talk anymore. Just drive," Sabrina said with irritation in her voice. Her mood was ruined because of how Robin denied Zayla.
Every woman she heard or saw Robin with, he never brought them home but broke that rule for Zayla and yet he was saying she meant nothing to him.
"How is our baby?" Robin asked after he pulled over at her car park. He knew there was no way to convince her about Zayla so he stopped trying.
"Baby should be fine," Sabrina said and attempted to open the door but Robin had not unlocked it.
"Can I touch your bump again? You have your clothes on," he asked longingly.
"Robin…"
Sabrina wanted to refuse due to the way it made her feel the last time but Robin thought to remind her,
"Please, it's the only way to feel a connection to him or her."
Sabrina swallowed tightly before she unbuttoned her blazer. She wore a white tube over the black skirt, which revealed her small bump. As Robin's hand caressed that little bump, he felt tears in the back of his eyes.
"I want to kiss our baby, Dear one, I hope you won't refuse."
