Chapter 158 – Robin slapped Zayla
"I want to kiss our baby, Dear one, I hope you won't refuse?"0
Sabrina stilled at the question. Robin was behaving weirdly and she was not liking it for whatever his reason was.
Kissing the Bump was romantic with couples who were in love with each other, but not a broken divorced couple like them.
She was still wondering what exactly went on in the villa to cause this change in him and was almost certain that it was not because he missed her presence as he said. She could feel that something had happened that Robin was not saying.
After all, she knew him for years before they got married for another three years.
"Robin…"
Robin was sure that this was not going to be kind to him this time. Indeed, he was being selfish because kissing the bump was a form of intimacy.
He wanted her so badly, he had to resolve to another shameless approach.
While his hand continued to caress her little bump, he said innocently, "It's a kiss for the one in the womb, not his or her mother."
Sabrina did not give him her approval but he took her silence for a yes, bent over, and kissed her stomach where his hand lingered earlier.
Sabrina felt hot and uneasy, as his lips pressed there for over a few seconds, basketing in her warmth.
Robin wanted to remain there for the rest of the day because over there, it felt safe and warm but sadly, he already closed the door to that right.
Just as Sabrina was about to push him away, she felt wetness on her thighs, understanding that they were Robin's warm tears.
Robin was crying and she could not understand the reason why she should care but perhaps it was because she feared she was the cause of his tears.
"Robin, why are you crying?" She ensured to not touch him in any way to console him but Robin froze at the words she used and quickly lifted his head from her stomach.
He pulled a handkerchief from his breast pocket and wiped his tears, not wanting her to see him as being weak.
"Nothing. I just hope that he or she will look like you but can I ask a question?"
Robin felt like he did not deserve the child they were expecting, whether male or female to look like him since he felt terrible and was afraid that they would inherit the foolishness in him which caused him to blindly believe Zayla.
Sabrina had not thought about it but was rather interested in whatever question laid on his heart that he wanted to ask her.
"What? And can you please not cry on my lap again? how do I handle this?" Sabrina was helplessly looking at her tear-stained skirt, wondering what could make a man like Robin cry so much.
If they were tears of regret, then it was too late because the moment she signed those divorce papers, everything ended between them and she would not be a fool to walk that path again.
Robin saw the stains from the wetness of his tears, feeling ashamed. He was not a man who easily shed a tear but since yesterday, he has been shedding them freely.
Zayla indeed messed up his life and he did not know how to get his ex-wife back since she no longer looked at him as she did before.
It also meant that she was no longer obsessed with him. "I'm sorry but that is a good thing about black. It isn't too obvious," Robin looked at the stains and smiled. It felt like his mark was imprinted on her.
"So, what do you want to ask?" Sabrina took her attention off the skirt and asked him seriously. Robin turned serious as well and sought her advice.
"I saw my father's clothes in the closet and I don't know what to do with them. Can you advise? You were closer to him than me."
Sabrina instantly felt sad at the mention of Robin's father. The man pampered her more than her biological father ever did.
Then again, she felt that Robin must have cried because he missed his father upon going to the villa again and said,
"I thought about it before but decided to leave them there. Each of those clothes has special stories."
What she would not tell Robin was the fact that she bought most of those clothes as gifts for her late father-in-law on different occasions from birthdays to Christmas, thanksgiving, and all.
She loved to buy them because the old man by then was very appreciative and would always wear every piece of clothing she bought for him, whether cheap or expensive.
They shared a special bond. From the way she said it, Robin discerned there was more and asked her,
"Can you tell me about them?"
Sabrina smiled at the recollection. Most of her best memories in that villa were with her late father-in-law.
"Unless we go to the villa but I have work to do."
"Perhaps we can plan a time to do so another time," Robin said earnestly, hoping to use it to spend a little time with her.
While they were speaking, his phone began to ring but he did not answer it after checking the caller ID and seeing it was Zayla. Sabrina saw it too and her expression changed.
"See you in the evening," she said and opened the door before Robin could go around to open it for her.
His heart felt heavy and his anger rose towards Zayla for spoiling this moment for him.
Still not answering Zayla's calls, he got to his office to see her fuming at the reception.
"Robin, why did you not answer my calls? Last night, you said we should start afresh and you changed again this morning. How could you even run a company when you can't keep your word?"
Robin lost his resolve and before he knew it, his palms met Zayla's cheek very hard, she felt more pain than she did when Devin slapped her.
Her face glistened with tears, as shock and pain spread through her body.
