Chapter 180 – Zayla, the diamonds are fake
Robin's right hand was already extended to touch her bump but Sabrina hit it in annoyance,2
"Not today."
She never liked the way it made her feel when his hand came into contact with any part of her body but it also gave Robin an assuring hope.
"Please. You refused to come back to me so it's the only way. I see it has grown a little bigger and I'm having hopes of us having twins."
Sabrina wanted to gag for his annoying observation and expectation. Besides, she was not ready to open her blazer.
"You can touch it tomorrow. Not today."
The corner of Robin's lips curled up, as he observed the way her hand shivered when she hit him. The only reason she was avoiding his touch was,
"If you don't feel anything for me anymore, then it should not worry you for as much as I touch it right?"
Sabrina smiled bitterly and allowed her anger to vent on him.
"Robin, the saying is true that true love never dies. In my heart, I still love you but following my heart in the past brought me nothing but pain and shame."
Robin's gaze lowered. He could not behold her pain and knew that he had a long way to go if he had to give her a reason to trust him with her heart again.
Sabrina was shaking and balled her hands into fists to calm herself. "My head has never disappointed me and what it tells me is what I am telling you. There can never be anything between us ever again."
A tear fell from her reddened eyes and Robin inadvertently made a move to wipe it but she pushed his hand away,
"Don't. Just unlock the door."
Robin obeyed. It was not his intention but he caused her pain and the least he could do was to allow her to be on her own, though he wanted to be there to comfort her, and promise her that this time, things would be different.
As soon as the door unlocked, she left before he could perform his gentlemanly duties. Robin's fingers dug into his palm and his anger boiled towards Zayla, whilst he drove back to the office.
Indeed, she was there waiting for him with a pitiful expression and tears in her eyes.
Robin was upset because of the state in which he left Sabrina and walked past Zayla as if he had not seen her. Zayla followed him to the office and without waiting for him to sit, began to rant.
"Robin, I gave the diamonds to my father but he came back saying they were fake."

Earlier.
"Dad, I'm here," Zayla called out happily to her father, who met her in the living room of his apartment.
"Zayla, I was waiting for you."
Kennedy was already dressed up and ready to step out when Zayla walked in. She opened her handbag and brought out the bottle with the letter.
"Here Dad, I will wait here for you."
She went to check her father's fridge to see if he had something edible since Mara had left him with some money after bailing him from police custody.
Zayla never enjoyed a good meal in the penthouse anymore since Robin stopped the chef and cleaners.
The hundred dollars was not enough to order the kind of food she wanted so she would buy groceries from the nearest grocery stores and make whatever she could with help from the internet.
When Robin gave her the diamonds, she was beginning to feel that it was all worth it now.
Kennedy intended to take her to the airport as soon as the money was transferred into his account and refused for her to stay behind, saying,
"Zayla, you should come with me."
Zayla shook her head. She felt like a prisoner in a luxurious penthouse.
"The driver would not allow me. Robin instructed him to only bring me here and nowhere else."
Kennedy was furious and thought of ways to teach Robin a lesson after he laid hands on the money from the sale of the diamonds.
He might not be here but there were still people he could use to fight against him.
"Are you, his prisoner?"
Zayla pursed her lips, not understanding Robin's sudden changes from hot to cold.
"It's Because he thinks I'm carrying his child."
Kennedy thought of another plan. It was just the driver but he could guess that that thug from the last time might still be around.
If he could get ten thugs, not the driver and his one thug would be able to stop him from taking Zayla away before Robin arrives.
"Alright, keep your phone line open. I will call you as soon as I get the money."
"Okay."
Kennedy left alone and Zayla waited and waited, but did not receive any call. Soon, her father returned, looking miserable.
"Dad, what is the problem?"
Kennedy went to the fridge and poured himself a glass of water. The shock and regret were so much that he could not utter a word until he gulped down a full bottle of water
"Zayla, the diamonds are fake."
"What? But that is what was in the villa."
Zayla's eyes were already blurring out and she quickly sat back on the couch to stabilize herself. The diamonds were their only hope and now that they got them, they were fake?
"I know. I remember that Ronald sold some at a time when he was not doing well. That was what he used to start the Jewel Company Ltd, now Jewel Group."
Zayla was lost, not understanding what her father meant by referring to Robin's father.
"If he did, then why do we still have this?"
Kennedy had stalked Ronald for long, knowing all his movements concerning the diamonds. As such, he attributed it to the time Robin's father sold a part of it and bought it back.
It was the only reasonable explanation he could get since he knew that Robin did not know about it.
"After he made money from the company, he took the original diamonds to go and buy back the ones he sold. I think he was duped."
Zayla shook her head, as confusion clouded it once more.
"I don't understand."
Kennedy explained slowly this time, "My old friend was duped. They took the originals and gave him fake diamonds together with the old ones he purchased back."
Zayla was beginning to feel dizzy and hot but then again, "How did you know?"
"Because I was spying on him. I can't believe that I killed his wife for nothing…"
