Chapter 189 – I never signed...”

"Can I get a friendly hug?"

Robin was hoping that their friendship would remain solid even after all the events of the past, for which reason he requested it.

During their three years of marriage, he never tried to hug or show her affection. It was only in bed that he could not resist her every time they slept together.

Sabrina stiffened at the request but when she relaxed, her eyes were cold and it radiated through her words,

"No Robin, some things should better be avoided."

She was not going to lead him on by agreeing to his request. Who knows, next time, he might just ask for a friendly kiss.

Robin's hopes died. No matter which way he turned, it was just hard to make his ex-wife understand that he had changed.

At the same time, Daniel arrived with Lizzy and both their attention was taken away by the bubbling pair.

Daniel opened the car door for Lizzy, and when she stepped out, she quickly went over to where Sabrina stood in front of Robin.

"I guess our timing is perfect," Daniel exclaimed to Robin, at the same time Sabrina asked Lizzy,

"So where did you go?"

She was just curious to know if her sister had a blast. Lizzy was glowing with excitement, saying,

"Horse riding, and the movies."

"Sounds interesting. We should all go and have dinner together," Sabrina suggested since she did not want to eat with Robin alone.

It was late and her father must have already had his dinner, for which reason she wanted it so. To her dismay, Lizzy said,

"We are full. We ate so much already."

Robin wanted to speak with Daniel and decided to skip supper. He wasn't hungry anyway, only worried about Sabrina.

"Sabrina, I will see you tomorrow," Robin said.

Sabrina nodded her head with so much relief and went inside.

Being close to Robin was very tortuous to her and for a moment, she wished that he was not the father of her child.

It was the only reason why she kept enduring the torture.

Robin and Daniel were still standing by their cars when Robin asked Daniel,

"How did it go?"

"Great. How about you?" Daniel asked Robin, hoping for some miraculous happiness for his best friend but Robin's shoulders slumped and he hissed,

"Terrible. I messed up big time, there seems to be no hope for me."

Daniel rubbed his back comfortingly, feeling pity for him,

"Have faith bro."

A few weeks later

"Sabrina, what have you done," Cobby barged into his daughter's office and asked.

Sabrina yawned, as she had just woken from a nap, wondering why her eyes were still so heavy.

Well, she blamed it on her hormones, happy her next antenatal was in three days and she could ask the doctor about it.

Her birthday was also scheduled for the weekend and invitations had been sent out.

Though it was her birthday, she took the back seat since Robin claimed he wanted to handle it alone.

She could not stop him due to his insistence, ending up agreeing to it.

"Dad, is everything alright?" Sabrina asked upon seeing her father's distraught look.

It soon changed into one of disappointment when he realized that she was fine.

However, seeing her father in her office, Sabrina discerned there was a problem since she was the one who usually went to his office.

Cobby tried to hold his anger but Sabrina still felt it when he spoke,

"I thought we agreed for you to send every document from Martin to me before appending your signature to it?"

Sabrina frowned in deep thought. She had done just that and was wondering the reason why her father was still upset.

"Yes, Dad, and I have been doing just that."

Cobby stared at her like a ghost. When he tried to warn her against Martin, that Mara must be in control of him, Sabrina was adamant, refusing to believe it and now, she had caused a mess that was threatening both their company and that of Devin's.

"It doesn't seem so," Cobby said, still trying but not able to hold himself, as he trembled from within, afraid of all their loss.

"Where are the original copies of the last one you signed?" he requested but Sabrina was confused, suddenly feeling nervous.

Her father had expressed his approval before she signed and even sent him a copy.

"You already have that," she stated before Cobby dropped the bomb which made her dizzy.

"I mean the one you signed today."

Sabrina paled and began looking around. She soon felt hot and wanted to drink her tea but realized that the cup was full and it had turned extremely cold.

She recalled having almost emptied the cup before falling asleep. She also did not recall signing any document today.

Her mind seemed to be in a daze, as some things did not feel right.

Her father was staring at her impatiently, refusing to sit down so she decided to get him the last document signed which was over a month ago.

She bent her head a little bit. "I never signed..." Sabrina paused and her phone began to ring. It was Devin.

"Don't answer it," her father said, confusing her even more but she saw a fresh set of documents she never saw before in her drawer and asked,

"Who put this here? I don't remember seeing it."

Her phone began to ring again. It was one of the investors so Cobby took her phone and switched it off.

Sabrina was wide-eyed, shocked, and perplexed,

"Dad, that was an investor so why did you switch off my?"

Cobby was concerned about her condition, for which reason he wanted to handle everything himself but needed the original document to confirm.

"Let's see what is inside."

He ignored her question and redirected it towards the document she just brought out of her desk drawer.1

As Sabrina removed the document from the envelope and began to flip the pages, she felt her eyes blurry and everything becoming dark right before her eyes.

She shook her head, trying to fight the darkness but it was so dominant.

"Brina," her father called out but Sabrina could only hear his voice from afar.

The door opened and Devin stepped right in, right when her vision blurred,

"Sabrina!" He screamed.
