Chapter 196 – Congratulations, you are expecting twins!
"So, you think he's making an empty promise?"
Sabrina went quiet for a while.
She discerned that her father was doing it to protect her but then again, it will never push him to lie to the world.
After the deep silence, she acknowledged,
"My dad never makes empty promises."
Robin smiled. Her honest perception of her father was an advantage to him,
"Then he has the money. The fact that you don't know doesn't mean he doesn't," he tried to imprint it in her head, so she wouldn't suspect his help.
"Is the press conference over?" Sabrina asked, wanting to speak to her father to clear the mist in the air.
It would be terrible for her to perceive anything in her mind which might turn out differently in the end.
Suddenly, light shone in her eyes and she felt an exceeding joy that they wouldn't have to succumb to Martin and she could have enough money to retrieve the shares if her father agreed to the fact that he indeed have the money.
"I think so but what would you eat?" Robin asked seriously.
He had to make sure that she was well nourished in her condition since such news swallowed her appetite.
As expected, she responded,
"I'm not hungry."
Robin smiled politely, saying,
"As your friend, I insist. I will ask your favorite chef to bring you lunch whilst the doctor performs his checks."
He made a few calls to order lunch for three before calling the doctor over to check on her.
"There's no course for alarm. You fainted because of the shock but now, even your blood pressure is normal and since your antenatal is in two days, I requested for the labs to cover it," the doctor was explaining when Robin cut in and asked,
"So, she doesn't have to come again in two days?"
"No. her lab results are fine and if the scan is okay too, then her next appointment will be in four weeks. She will be discharged when she completes her IVs and that also, depends on the scan," the doctor smiled and said when they heard a knock on the door.
Matilda went to get it only to receive so much food from a delivery man. The chef could not come himself since he was making preparations for Sabrina's dinner to be delivered to her house.
"Since you are about to have lunch, we can have the scan after but that will be in my office," the doctor said and Robin thanked her, before encouraging Sabrina to eat.
"Dear one, you should eat for the sake of our growing baby in your womb."
Sabrina smiled a little. Even if she did not have the appetite because of the news, she had to do it for the sake of her unborn child.
The three of them ate together before Robin went to the doctor's office with Sabrina for the scan after she completed her IVs.
His eyes were glued to the LED screen the whole time while the doctor smiled and announced,
"Congratulations, you are expecting twins!"
Robin felt his heart jump out of his chest and the next moment, he flung himself over Sabrina, hugging her tightly while happy tears fell from his eyes.
Guilt and remorse filled his heart at the remembrance of how he readily allowed Sabrina to leave with his twins without putting up a fight for her and choosing Zayla, the gold digger with only mushrooms in her belly.
Robin could not forgive himself though he had seen Zayla in weeks, not caring how she was faring.
However, he had daily updates from the driver he assigned to her that she was still at the penthouse.
Robin had just a few days remaining to execute his plans since Sabrina's birthday was just in a few days and everything was ready.
He even invited the general, who agreed to come.
Sabrina stiffened at his action since the news was already overwhelming for her.
Now she is going to have two children with her ex-husband.
Once she was desperate for just a child, hoping that it would make Robin happy so he'd stay at home.
She took the pregnancy test almost every day when she stopped going to the hospital to check due to the continuous negative result.
Who would have thought that the day her prayers for carrying Robin's child was answered would be the end of her marriage to him?
At those thoughts, her countenance was cold.
The tightness of Robin's embrace made her uncomfortable, and she began to wiggle.
He regained himself and quickly pulled away,
"I'm very sorry. It won't happen again."
When he saw no emotions in her eyes, his heart sank.
He knew that she was not happy to carry his children but neither could he blame her.
Whereas, he would spend the rest of his life trying to make it up to her.
No matter what happens, he was not going to give up on her. He turned to the doctor.
"You are invited to her birthday party this weekend at the crystal hotel."
The doctor smiled and did not refuse since she was lucky to have Saturday off from her work schedule.
"I won't miss it and I will see you here in four weeks. I have also changed her vitamins so you can get them for her at the pharmacy."
"Sure," Robin smiled and said when the doctor said to Sabrina again,
"Twin pregnancies can be more difficult than normal ones. Please, should you feel any discomfort whatsoever, don't hesitate to come to the hospital."
Sabrina forced a smile and unconsciously rubbed her little bump,
"Yes doctor."
When they stepped out of the ward, Robin said to her,
"You could come to work at my office or even relax there."
He felt that her office might be traumatizing for her at the moment because of what happened there but Sabrina wanted to be away from him.
"No. I would rather go home. Matilda will keep me company."
"Isn't she supposed to be in school?" Robin asked since Matilda had started culinary school.
Sabrina felt guilty to be the reason why she missed class but Matilda was already there, which meant that she sacrificed her class for her.
"Well, she's already here."
"Alright, I will take you both home but I will come again in the evening for our usual evening walk," Robin reminded her but Sabrina looked at the time and refused.0
"You have work to do. Please make it tomorrow."
Robin was not happy but agreed. He had wanted to keep her company since the news about the twins was not so pleasing to her but it was obvious that she didn't want him around her.
He nodded his head in disappointment before driving them to the mansion and bidding them goodbye.
Suddenly, he remembered that he left Daniel in his office and sped there.
Right when he arrived at the reception, he was blinded by the pain of a hard punch to his face.
"Robin Jewel, you said you could protect my sister so how come this happened to her?"
