Chapter 145 – Robin shed tears.
Robin returned the card to the security man and began to drive away, surprising the security man by not taking a snapshot of the card as he suggested. 1
The security man shrugged and dropped the card back to where he kept it before, feeling that his former boss would come back for it later.
The name Robin saw on the card made him so guilty. It reminded him of the terrible things he did both to Sabrina, his father, and even his grandmother.
As he thought about his grandmother whom he had not seen in years, tears brimmed in the back of his eyes.
Cecelia Jewel, that woman loved Robin very much but he constantly disrespected her.
She lived just an hour's drive away from the villa but Robin had never taken the pain of going to see her or even calling her on the phone.
He kept fighting back the tears as his hands shook on the steering while he drove. Robin guessed by now that Sabrina did not sell but gifted the villa to his grandmother since she did not need it.
It ached his heart at how he let a selfless woman like Sabrina go without fighting for her.
When he reached the old villa where his grandmother lived with her maids and caretakers, it took a while for him to alight from the car or even horn the security but to his amazement, the gates opened to let him in without the security asking who he was.
It was the same protocol he received when he used to visit four years ago. He stopped visiting three years ago when he realized that his grandmother equally supported his father to force the marriage between him and Sabrina.
When he alighted from the car and walked to the door, he was about to knock on it when it opened from the inside as if his grandmother was already expecting him.
He was met with a sweet smile but could not return it immediately, due to the pain he was going through.
"Welcome, Mr. Jewel," Lily, her grandmother's caretaker said, while ushering him into the old villa where they all lived before, he moved to the new one with his father and Sabrina after marriage.
This villa held a lot of memories because this was where Robin grew up. Sabrina's father's former house was just a few blocks away and so was that of the general's old mansion and even Zayla's family house, not far away.
Robin has never been here for over three years but not much has changed. The villa was still as neat and beautiful as it used to be when they lived here.
"Thank you, Lily, it has been a long while," Robin struggled with words since his mind was muffled with so much confusion.
Lily gave a nod, understanding his countenance, which did not disturb her much. Robin was always aloof to them so it was good that he was even polite.
"Grandma is relaxing in her recliner."
A smile forced its way through Robin's lips. The recliner was where his grandma used to sit ever since he had known her. It used to be his grandfather's favorite place and as soon as he died, his wife, Robin's grandmother took over, saying that she always felt her late husband's presence whenever she sat there.
"Then I should not disturb her," Robin thought and said since his reason for coming over was a selfish one, as he admitted to his shame.
Lily frowned a little bit, knowing how eager the old woman had been to see her grandson again.
"She would be angry if you didn't."
"Is that Robin?"
His grandmother's voice had not changed one bit. It still carried the warmth and love it always had ever since he knew her.
Robin walked to where he heard the sound of his voice and she was indeed in the recliner with her favorite herbal tea.
She also had not changed much in three years, except for the gray hairs which had increased a little bit.
Robin's heart was filled with complicated emotions while the woman smiled at him ever so gently.
"Yes grandma, I'm sorry," Robin sniffled. He could not hold back the tears anymore.
"Come here grandson," the old woman's arms were widely open to welcome him, making him shed more tears. When Robin embraced his grandmother, he could not hold back his tears.
For years, he never shed a tear but right now, he was crying like the prodigal grandson he was.
"Grandma, I'm very, very sorry."
The old woman pulled away and wiped his tears with her thumb, feeling that she did not deserve his apology.
"I am not the one you should be apologizing to."
She said so because the problem started with Sabrina. Robin hated his marriage to Sabrina so much that everyone who supported it became an enemy.
"I know. But I don't know how to make it up to her. It's too late because another woman is pregnant for me."
The only thing holding Robin back from pursuing his ex-wife was Zayla.
He knew that Sabrina would never give him a chance for as long as Zayla was still in his life and the pregnancy.
His grandmother was patting his back while he knelt and cried on his lap. She said to him,
"If another woman is pregnant for you, it should not stop you from apologizing to Sabrina."
Robin lifted his head and looked into his grandmother's eyes, knowing that she did not understand the depth of the situation or the fact that maybe Sabrina had not told her.
"Sabrina is pregnant too."
"What?" Cecilia froze in her actions, feeling betrayed since she and Sabrina had been in constant communication.
"And she didn't tell me? I saw her two weeks ago. I will call her now."
Robin could not stop the woman due to her determination.
As soon as Sabrina answered the call, the old woman seriously,
"Young lady, when are you going to tell me that you are carrying my grandchild?"
