Chapter 150 – Robin regains consciousness

Daniel quickly rushed to his side and carried him to the bed, at the same time the doctor walked in. 0

"Doctor Paul, thank you for making it so quickly," Daniel said with relief but was still nervous. Robin was strong and nothing ever made him faint in his life before, for as long as Daniel has known him.

"What happened to him?" The doctor asked while checking Robin's heartbeat with his stethoscope.

"I don't know," Daniel responded before his eyes traveled to the letter and he picked it up from the floor reading the first lines, he guessed where the shock came from. "I think it's from this letter his father left him but it must be confidential so we should not read it."

Daniel was Robin's best friend but would not read something he saw to be confidential unless Robin permitted him.

While the doctor checked on Robin, Daniel folded the letter, put it back in the envelope, placed it in the briefcase, and closed it. 

He carried the briefcase and put it on the bed while he sat beside it, to Robin's left.

From that position, he could observe Robin, while keeping an eye on the briefcase as well. If Robin called him before passing out, it was because he trusted him enough to cover his back.

The doctor opened his briefcase which contained emergency supplies in relation to Robin's condition as Daniel had described on the phone. Robin did not like hospitals, for which reason the doctor had a fair idea of what to bring along.

"His blood pressure is high but he passed out from shock. Do you know what caused it?" The doctor asked Daniel, who frowned before going into deep thought. The doctor was a family doctor but not Robin's confidante. 

Moreover, Robin could have straight away called the doctor, instead of calling Daniel.

"When will he regain consciousness? Perhaps he can tell us," Daniel said after a little thought. 

The doctor did not ask again, since Daniel's countenance showed that he was not going to say anything anymore.

After the examination and administering some IVs, the doctor gave an update on Robin's condition.

"From the look of it, he should be regaining consciousness anytime soon."

"Then let's wait but I have to call Sabrina," Daniel said and before he redialed Sabrina's number on the phone, the doctor asked with a frown,

"His ex-wife? Why not Zayla, the woman he loves?" When Robin left the villa that day, he informed his doctor about his new home and how he and Sabrina were divorced. He also mentioned Zayla, for which reason the doctor knew.

Daniel never liked Zayla, thereby responding curtly, "I'm not on good terms with Zayla and besides, this villa belongs to Sabrina."

The doctor wanted to ask more questions but Daniel had already dialed Sabrina's number.

"Daniel, is he alright?" Sabrina asked as soon as she answered the call, seeming disturbed and Daniel was surprised. He expected her to act aloof but Sabrina was not heartless. She would never hit a man when he was down.

"He is unconscious but the doctor said he would gain consciousness any moment from now."

Sabrina was even more disturbed upon hearing that Robin was still unconscious. "So, he fainted or what? What happened?" Sabrina asked anxiously, wondering what in the villa could make someone like Robin faint. 

This was a villa where they lived together throughout their marital years.

"I don't have the details but I will let you know as soon as he wakes up," Daniel said assuringly, Sabrina felt grateful to him,

"Thank you."

The doctor was checking something on his phone while Daniel was doing the same with his iPad. Robin opened his eyes and tried to remember where he was. 

He saw the doctor and frowned, then he turned his neck to the side and saw Daniel, frowning deeper, as he tried to recollect everything.

As soon as the memories began to flood in, he panicked and lifted himself aggressively to a sitting position.

"The briefcase, the letter!" 

The sound of his husky voice caused the doctor to drop his phone on the chair he sat whiles, hastening to check on him. Daniel also turned to face him from where he sat, exclaiming,

"Robin. You are awake."

"Did you see a letter and a briefcase?" Robin asked seriously, not responding directly to the question. 

That briefcase was a treasure and he could not lose it. His level of anxiety scared Daniel and the Doctor was worried because of his sudden rise in blood pressure.

"Chill Robin, it's right here," Daniel said, pointing at where he kept the briefcase. 

Robin was grateful. It was the reason he called Daniel because they have been friends for a long time, knowing each other's likes and dislikes for which reason Daniel would know what to do in a situation like that.

"Ah, thank you very much. Can I have it?" Robin asked politely, as his countenance saddened at the content of the letter. 

All along, he was made to believe a lie and treated the right woman badly, while claiming to love the wrong one.

"Of course," Daniel said and gave the briefcase to him when the doctor said,

"You should be more concerned about your health and not what got you into this state." 

There was a warning in his tone but it was as if Robin did not hear him, as he continued to read the letter from where he stopped. This time, he was very much prepared.

'From the beginning, Kennedy Chance knew about these diamonds when I was trying to get the market value. It has always been in the family for ages, for which reason we were named Jewel.'

'The rare diamonds are the Jewels of the family and before starting the company, we sold some for the capital. When we made enough profit, we bought them back at a higher price and when your mother found out that Kennedy knew, he killed her because she tried to expose him when he tried to get into the villa to get it.'

'I take the blame because I never believed her when she told me because Kennedy succeeded in fooling me to believe that he was a loyal friend. I lost your mother because of my stupidity.'

'I hope you use this information wisely. I love you and I forgive your past mistakes. Live right and have as many children as you can."

'Sincerely, your father, Ronald Jewel.'

"Robin, what is in the letter?" Daniel asked and Robin gave the letter to him while the doctor checked on Robin. 

After Daniel finished reading, he paled like a ghost, asking, "So, what are you going to do now?"
