Chapter 106 – Robin sent you lunch
Robin's words stung Zayla's heart. It bled. This is what she did not want, but she felt helpless in her inability to do anything about it. Digging her fingers into her palms and drawing blood, she blurted out,1
"Robin, it's a trick. What if she was cheating on you during marriage?"
Robin's expression changed instantly at Zayla's remark, and he stood from the chair he sat on. Turning to face Zayla, she was swallowed by the darkness in his eyes as he spoke coldly,
"Zayla, I slept with you once, and I can't even remember. Should I also say that you were cheating on me? Mind you, Sabrina was my wife, and our sex life was a daily active one."
A tear dropped from Zayla's eyes. It was too painful that Robin would not touch her. Her voice was drowned in tears as her eyes blurred from the moisture.
"So why do you keep neglecting me? I was the one who saved your life." Touching on another soft spot, softness returned to Robin's eyes, and he said,
"And that is the reason why I chose you over her. Nothing changes between us, but you have to accept it when you see me with Sabrina," he stated the fact.
Zayla's hatred for Sabrina was so intense that all she wanted was to strangle her or drive a knife through her heart.
"But I can't. I love you, Robin. I can't stand seeing you with another woman," Zayla cried. The old Robin would have wrapped his arms around her to comfort her, but after those images, she shared on social media during her interview, Robin could only pity her.
However, if Sabrina endured all his escapades with women, then why was Zayla complaining and behaving as if he was the greatest sinner in the world?
"Then I'm not the right man for you because I will never be able to give you the happiness you deserve."
Zayla quickly wiped her tears, regretting thinking that Robin would ever be faithful to her. "Robin, that is not what I mean. Please don't be mad."
Robin sat back in his chair and asked her, "Are you returning to the penthouse?"
"Yes, but Daniel doesn't have to take care of me," Zayla pouted and leaned against his desk. Robin did not like the position but did not also talk about it.
"If you say so, then fine. There is enough security at your beck and call anyway."
Zayla had a feeling that Robin was going to spend the night at the hospital, which she did not want, and asked,
"Robin, please be honest with me. Last night, were you with Sabrina?"
"Yes. She did not like it, but I had to be there for her, just as I am for you, and that reminds me, when is your next antenatal?" Robin recalled everything about the scan and asked.
He wanted to see Zayla's scan directly from the screen as well.
Zayla was in so much shock that her mind processed Robin's words slowly. He admitted to spending the night at the hospital with Sabrina even when she did not want him there, and he neglected her, Zayla, who wanted him close to her every time.
For now, she saw the opportunity to deal with the antenatal issue first and said, "I went for it yesterday because I was bored."
Robin froze, and his gaze darkened instantly. The first time he took Zayla, he could not see anything but could only blame himself for stepping out to take a call and running into Sabrina, but the second time, he wanted to see everything live and clear, like a soccer match. His voice turned cold,
"Zayla, this is the last time you go for antenatal without me. So where is the doctor's report?" He demanded. From his angry look, Zayla discerned that he would scrutinize it, so though she had it in her bag, she lied,
"At home."
"Well, then keep it in my room. I will come and check it, but is everything alright?" His voice softened again while he asked about his unborn child. Zayla smiled at his soft words and responded,
"Yes, the baby is growing well, and I have a little bump."
"That is great news." Robin turned around to touch her stomach, to have a feel of the bump, but she quickly moved away from discomfort, fearing that he might discern that it was fake.
It was not easy lying to Robin, but the good part was his believing her, which made her feel that everything would be fine.
Remembering what her father said about Robin investing so much into Sabrina's company, Zayla thought about testing the length he would go for her as well and asked, "Robin, can my dad move in with us at the penthouse?"
Robin's response was curt, "I'm sorry, no."
Zayla shook her head bitterly. 'Oh Sabrina, you are so dead,' she vowed in her mind while she tried again,
"It's alright, but can I pay his rent from your black card?"
"For only one year, Zayla. You are my responsibility but not your father, and it was not easy for the case to be withdrawn from police custody," Robin reminded her.
"Alright," Zayla pursed her lips before smiling bitterly. Before that one year, she would have gotten somebody into the villa to steal the diamonds, and then, it would be worthless to her.
As she left Robin's office, she thought about how she was going to make their plans to succeed to completely remove Sabrina from Robin's life.
An hour before lunchtime, Robin arranged with the special chef at the crystal hotel to send Sabrina and Matilda lunch.
At the hospital, when the food was delivered, Matilda could not help swallowing saliva.
Sabrina was busy on her laptop, and though the aroma of the food encased the VIP ward, she did not want to disappoint Matilda, who had cooked her lunch and restrained from checking where the aroma was coming from.
To her utmost surprise, Matilda said,
"Robin sent you lunch."
