Chapter 64 – Robin did it on purpose

Zayla froze in her step at the sight of the people already seated in the private room. From the romantic setup, she would have thought that Robin was finally stepping up their relationship or even for the fact that he was going to propose to her for real but seeing the couple at the next table, her heart fell.0

It was not going to be just she and Robin as she had thought earlier. When Robin said he had a surprise for her, she thought it was going to be something for just the two of them. She never thought that she would be here bumping into Sabrina again.

Robin walked casually as if he had not seen the two people seated close to the window. 

"Zayla, I don't have all night," he said impatiently, while waiting for her to come and sit on the chair he pulled out for her.

Zayla recovered from her shock and walked to the chair, swallowing bitterly and wondering if Robin was aware that the pair were going to be there as well. Not being able to hold it in, she asked whiles walking towards the chair he pulled out for her,

"Darling, I thought this was a private room. What are they doing here?"

Robin stared at her impassively when she sat on the chair before he responded, "Zayla, can we have a meal in peace for once?"

"Okay," Zayla responded, her face falling even more. Robin hardly said much about Sabrina from the moment he shut Zayla up for calling Sabrina names and even at a romantic setup like this, he was still distant towards her.

At the other table, Sabrina's appetite was ruined and Martin was so upset, he called the waiter,

"What is going on here? I booked the whole room to have a private dinner."

Both Martin and Sabrina noticed, that whiles the girl spoke, she even blushed. "I'm sorry sir but the hotel is under new management."

Martin frowned and asked, "And how is that supposed to affect my previous arrangements?"

The waiter's cheeks reddened even more. "Sir, Mr. Jewel bought the hotel a few days ago. He wanted to have dinner with his fiancé alone but when we informed him that you had already booked, he still allowed you to join them instead of canceling your order. Mr. Jewel is very generous," she smiled.

Sabrina's heart stung. So Robin could be so romantic towards Zayla whiles when she was with him, she became a complete housewife. She was convinced that she had gotten over him but the expression on her face showed otherwise.

Martin was a boiling rage. Unlike Sabrina, he knew that Robin was doing this because of revenge and it had nothing to do with Zayla. He always knew that Robin was smart but this was beyond. Buying the hotel which was also the most expensive in the whole of New York City just to embarrass Martin, was extreme.

Also, Robin would have nothing to lose because, in the end, he would make all his money back since the hotel was one of the most successful businesses. Martin's anger began to rise toward his sister. If not for her, he could have gotten back at Robin by buying the hotel but Mara would never approve of it.

"I am not satisfied with your service," Martin declared, thinking that the waiter would be saddened and try to make amends but she only smiled and glanced in Robin's direction as if he was some kind of superhero.

"Mr. Jewel already considered it. He said you could eat for free."

That was the last straw. Martin's pride broke for having the food he specially ordered for Sabrina to be paid for by her ex-husband. If he stayed, it would be more shameful. Even Sabrina felt embarrassed at the news and the fact that Robin was doing it for Zayla.

"Sabrina, can we go?" Martin asked Sabrina nodded, just as the waiter said,

"Please wait, sir."

She rushed inside and returned with all the food Martin had ordered, packaged. She even included all the desserts. Robin had told them to do so, knowing that Martin's pride would not allow him to continue eating at the hotel.

"You already placed the order so you can have it all for free," she forcefully stuffed the packaged food in Martin's hands, he was so upset and embarrassed. When he saw Robin glance at their table and smile, he lost it. Dropping the food and the table, he said to Sabrina,

"Please sit a while, I will be back."

Sabrina nodded her head and sat down. She thought that Martin was going to use the gents but to her amazement, he marched over to Robin's table.

"Can we talk?" Martin demanded, Robin smiled a little but his eyes were cold when he responded,

"Sure, bring your chair over. As you can see, there is no extra."

Martin's hands balled into fists and his jaws clenched but Zayla saw an opportunity and quickly stood up,

"You can have mine," she said since she wanted to talk to Sabrina as well. However, her action displeased Robin since he wanted to embarrass Martin. Before he could object, Martin already sat comfortably in front of him, asking seriously,

"What are you up to, Robin?"

Robin was so cold, it shone through his voice as he addressed Martin, "You dare not address me casually, Mr. Dane, we are not friends."

Martin smiled but it did not reach his eyes. Robin has just ruined his date and was acting all high and mighty about it. "Then you should not have paid for my meal."

Robin let out a humorless chuckle, "Oh, if receiving is hard for you, then it only means you are stingy. When you give freely, you receive freely. Also, I could have just canceled your date but I'm very generous," he shrugged and spoke in an impassive tone, making Martin's anger burn.

Martin shook his head and accused him, "You bought this hotel on purpose to ruin my date."
