Chapter 107 – Robin incites Daniel to cause chaos in Sabrina’s ward.

Sabrina could pin it on her pregnancy hormones because the moment she smelled the aroma of the food, she was invariably hungry. 2

However, she still tried not to let Matilda down and retorted,

"But you already brought me lunch."

Matilda shook her head. For someone aiming for culinary school, she could tell that this food was above her skills and was also very healthy. Whereas for fear that Sabrina might not eat it since it was from Robin, she smiled and said,

"This one is steaming hot and fresh. I prefer you to have this one."

Sabrina was equally salivating at the sight of the dishes because they did not look like normal restaurant food, and there was no printed name on the package. 

Robin wanted them to have a home-cooked meal, for which reason he gave the chef two days off to prepare breakfast, lunch, and supper for Sabrina from home.

"Can you guess where he ordered it? I would like to learn a thing or two from the chef," Sabrina said, recalling the delicacy of the Crystal Hotel when Martin took her there before Robin ruined it. 

Somehow, Martin has not been able to get for her the list of ingredients and steps she asked for. At the same time, Sabrina nailed it on the fact that he was busy and must have forgotten due to so much going on.

"You could ask him," Matilda encouraged her, but Sabrina quickly shook her head. It was better not to ask Robin for any favors since they were divorced so she'd not feel that she owed him.

"Never, and don't tell him that I ate the food, do you understand?" She warned Matilda seriously. Matilda laughed, nodded her head, and responded,

"Sure, sure. Why would I even tell him?"

At the door, Robin was about to knock when he heard the two women talking. He knew that his presence would ruin Sabrina's appetite, so he turned around and went back to his office, glad that she enjoyed the meal he had sent.

Sabrina felt full after having such a sumptuous meal. She felt lazy and yawned, "I still have a few things to do on the laptop, but I will nap first."

"Fine, fine. I will clear this place," Matilda agreed and began to clean up all the mess.

By evening, Sabrina's ward was crowded. Her dad, Lizzy, and Devin were all there. It wasn't long before Robin arrived with Daniel and saw Lizzy. Daniel casually reminded her, 

"I hope my surprise will be ready soon. It is three days before the party, so I should have it by tomorrow next." 

He was not so concerned about the dress but just the opportunity to speak to Lizzy since Devin was there.

Lizzy smiled and responded, "Don't worry, Mr. Root. I don't disappoint my clients."

Daniel saw Matilda and greeted her, "Hi, I'm Daniel. You must be Sabrina's best friend."

"Yeah, Matilda, and you got it right, I'm Sabrina's best friend. So, who are you?" Matilda asked questioningly since she had not met Daniel before. Daniel smiled and shook her hand,

"I'm Robin's best friend."

Matilda glanced at Robin and quickly removed her eyes while she responded, "I see." 

She still had not found a way to thank Robin for all his secret kindness but still had it in her heart to find a way to do so.

Robin could not help but notice the change in Devin's expression when Daniel was speaking to Matilda, so he whispered something to Daniel and later smiled. 

He walked around, and when Matilda was about to leave with Devin, he asked, 

"Matilda, right? I was hoping that we could get to know each other. You know, you being single and me bei-"

"Back off, Dude," Devin barked, cutting off his last words. The rage burning in his eyes was amusing to Robin and Daniel, and they laughed.

Daniel moved to the second gear of his torment. Blocking Devin's way, he retorted, "Hey, I wanted your sister, remember? You said no, but Matilda is not your family, and she's free to mingle."

Devin was so pissed and boiling from so much rage he would have punched Daniel in the face if his father was not there. He barked, 

"Well, she lives under my roof and is under my protection."

"From what?" Daniel asked mockingly, folding his arms to his chest while Robin continued to laugh at the chaos he was causing in Sabrina's ward.

"The likes of you," Devin said coldly. Daniel smiled at Matilda whiles flirting with her,

"Matilda, we shall meet again at the party. I won't miss it for anything," he winked. Matilda did not respond, but Lizzy felt strangely jealous of the whole thing, as a thick layer of darkness covered her eyes while they walked away with their father.

Daniel cracked a few jokes with Sabrina and left soon after making her laugh so much, almost getting Robin jealous since he never made Sabrina laugh so hard before.

Whiles at the car park, Devin opened the door to the passenger side for Matilda, but before he entered the driver's side, Cobby stood by the door of the driver's side and said,

"Son, let's talk in my car."

Daniel did not know what his father wanted to talk about but followed him immediately. When they reached Cobby's car, he said to Lizzy, 

"Liz, please sit in your brother's car for a while. I want to talk to him in private. Lizzy nodded her head and went to join Matilda in Devin's car. She also wanted to have a word with Matilda, so this seemed like a perfect opportunity. 

"Son, you know that I don't beat around the bush, so I will ask straightforwardly, do you have feelings for Matilda?"

Devin was surprised and a little shy for his father to have seen through his emotions. However, he did not know if it was right to open up about his feelings for Matilda to his father. 

What if he advised him against it? Devin was not sure that he would be able to take such advice to stay away from Matilda.
