Chapter 79 – Put me down

The pregnancy hormones of the first trimester were catching up on her very fast and she was finding it hard to adjust to them when she had such a busy schedule. 1

A yawn was nudging in and using a neatly folded handkerchief, she covered her mouth before allowing the yawn out of her lips.

Robin noticed it and worry flung him whereas he remained indifferent.

"So, Miss James, if our investment was wrongfully distributed, do you expect us to wait until the end of every month to know about it? Please don't forget that this is a new collaboration."

Sabrina was embarrassed to have been called out like that and remembered her father's advice to keep her emotions out of the way of business. If she allowed it to affect her, then her judgment would be wrong and clouded.

"So, what do you suggest, Mr. Wingman?" Sabrina asked him, just so she wouldn't be the one suggesting it. Since these companies had invested a lot, they could decide on the frequency at which they wanted this meeting to be held.

"I suggest bi-weekly meetings for the first three months. If things are looking good, then we can change it to once a month and subsequently, once in three or six months," Mr. Wingman, one of the CEOs suggested.

He was an elderly man who already knew that even though the plan for partnership was their boss's idea, he would still blame him if things went wrong, for which reason he had to be vigilant.

After suspecting that Sabrina was carrying his child and warning Martin, Robin thought of a way to get involved in JC Minerals company affairs because of Mara.

Knowing that Sabrina would reject a partnership with Jewel Group, he tasked six of his most competent CEOs to send the proposals, hoping that at least one of them would get the partnership since they were still under him.

Robin did not expect that Sabrina would accept all six companies. To him, it was a great advantage because he now had higher shares than the Danes. Also, he had the opportunity to walk into Sabrina's office at any time he wanted.

Whether she liked it or not, he would be there to protect her.

"Is there any other person who agrees with his suggestion?" Sabrina asked, her heart dropping when she saw six right arms lifted in the air, except Robin.

It did not seem like he came to contribute anything. He was more like an observer.

Sabrina gulped. Before she responded, she was met with a wave of dizziness and when she opened her eyes, everything was blurry.

"Are you alright?" Robin whispered in her ears when he realized her attention had drifted. It was funny how Zayla showed no symptoms but that was also normal.

Sabrina realized that he might get suspicious if she told him that she felt dizzy so she straightened up and nodded her head but was still struggling with the darkness coming her way.

"Since you all agree, then we shall have our next meeting in two weeks. I will have my secretary send you reminders. If there is nothing more, then we could end our first meeting here."

The six CEOs were not happy with the way she was hastening to end the meeting between them. One of them asked,

"Miss James, do you have more important things to do aside from this meeting? You seem to be in a hurry."

Sabrina could barely hear what he said and was sweating. Before she asked what the man was saying, Robin retorted,

"If you don't have anything to say concerning the collaboration, then the meeting is over. She is not responsible to share what she does after she meets with you. I guess you all have work to do."

The iciness in his tone chilled the six men and one by one, they nodded their heads respectfully before leaving the conference room.

As soon as the last person left as Sabrina saw from her blurry vision, her head dropped on the table, not minding that Robin was there.

"Sabrina, you are tired. You should take some days off," Robin suggested but Sabrina was already sleeping and Robin was afraid that she was unconscious.

"I will take you to the hospital," he said in her ears, and was amazed by the way she instantly jolted awake as if she had not felt dizzy before. Robin frowned deeply. 'You must want to keep our child from me but that is not possible, Sabrina.'

"I'm fine, Robin. I will call Martin to come and take me back to the office," she said and tried to stand up when another wave of dizziness flooded in, forcing her to sit back in her chair. Hearing her mention Martin, Robin was incredulously pained.

"If you won't go to the hospital, then you can relax for a while in my office until you feel better. Have you eaten yet?" Robin asked.

Sabrina wanted to say yes or simply tell him it was none of his business but she remembered the baby in her womb and admitted,

"No"

Robin was greatly worried. A pregnant woman had not eaten since morning and it was already lunchtime. He feared that the pregnancy would turn out unhealthy if she ended up like this. Without a word, he scooped her into his arms.

His action caused Sabrina to jolt back to reality once again. Robin never carried her in their arms before. Not through their three years of marriage.

"Put me down," she tried to speak sternly but her voice came out weak.

Robin did not oblige and carried her to his car. As soon as he placed her on the passenger seat and buckled her up, she fell asleep. As he looked at how she slept like a baby, he found her adorable.

'What I'm I even thinking,' Robin reprimanded himself in his head.

He ordered for food to be delivered to his office. At first, he wanted to take her to the hospital and have the opportunity to have proof but then, how would he gain her trust?

It was better to pretend that he did not know.

What Robin did not see was the flash of a camera light from a distance, while he drove his ex-wife to his office.
