Chapter 82 – Robin is principled
Zayla fumbled for words. She had ruined his mood, and didn't know how to put her message across. How could she not control herself until Robin had agreed to help her father? 1
Now that she had succeeded in ruining his mood, she had no idea where to start from.
"Zayla, are you going to tell me, or I should forget about it?" Robin asked impatiently.
Zayla perked up. She went to sit on the table, blocking Robin's access to his laptop since he had already sat back in his executive swivel chair.
"Please, Zayla, I have urgent matters to attend to. Get a chair," Robin said in a slightly irritated tone.
Zayla walked around and sat on a chair in front of him while she said, "Darling, please, you have to help my dad."
Robin frowned. He hated for closed matters to be brought back to light, but then again, he was a little confused.
"Zayla, what kind of help are you talking about?"
Zayla blinked, and tears filled her eyes. Robin's heart softened instantly while she spoke in a teary voice,
"Darling, my dad has been arrested, and there is no one to bail him out."
"Arrested for what?" A frown lined Robin's fine features when he asked the question.
"He…he declared the company bankrupt, and the investors got him arrested," Zayla stuttered. Robin sighed frustratedly,
"Zayla, there's nothing I can do about it."
Zayla forced down more tears, giving her a pitiful look. She saw Robin falling for it and capitalized on it,
"Darling, please. If you don't help him, I will be depressed."
Indeed, Robin could not allow his pregnant girlfriend to undergo depression, so he ran his fingers through his hair and let out,
"I will send one of my lawyers over to handle it."
Zayla was not happy with that arrangement, looking at the depth of her father's crimes. The lawyers would only complicate matters and advise Robin to back down from the case. Zayla could not allow that to happen.
Putting on another pitiful expression, she said in a pleading tone,
"Darling, why don't you go yourself? Your presence is enough to make them drop the charges against him."
Roman grimaced, wondering if Zayla was mistaking him for Santa Claus.
"Zayla, I don't condone fraudulent activities. If I make a mistake, I pay for it, so if your father made a mistake, you have to understand that it's beyond me. The law must take its course," he explained slowly, knowing that her brain did not process things as fast enough.
Zayla shook her head, wiping her tears with the back of her hands whilst allowing more tears to fall. Robin would not want to see his pregnant girlfriend miserable so that was her only ticket.
"But darling, what if I end up with hypertension? I can't sleep and it's not good for the baby," Zayla cried some more, Robin found himself in a helpless situation.
Indeed, hypertension could affect her pregnancy.
"I will see what I can do. Just go back to the penthouse," Robin instructed while thinking of how best he could help with the whole thing.
Zayla was still not satisfied and needed some answers so she asked,
"Darling please, will you help him?"
Robin found himself nodding to her request. He was only going to help the man out of police custody but he was never going to help to resurrect his business.
Zayla's father was a shame to businessmen of his kind.
"I will Zayla but I won't guarantee that he will have anything back. My lawyers would only take care of the investors and that is as far as I can go."
Hearing that her father would be released, Zayla thought of coming up with a way to get into the villa without owning it, to search for the diamond. That way, her father could have everything back.
Afterall, it did not look like the villa was occupied. Sabrina was not living there. "Thank you, Robin, it's enough for me."

At the car park Martin was still uneasy about how Sabrina ended up in Robin's office. He feared that Sabrina still harbored feelings for Robin, which his heart could not take. Not after getting the chance to be with her, even if what they had was fake.
The way she hugged him when he entered Robin's office, made him want her more and more for himself. At that, he could not even start the car until he got some clarifications.
"Sabrina, how did you end up in his office?"
"I don't know. I woke up there. I felt dizzy during the meeting and I don't know what happened next," Sabrina said truthfully, Martin was even more uneasy.
"Sabrina, if he did anything to you, we should press charges against him," Martin suggested, afraid that Robin must have been intimate with her.
Sabrina was disappointed by his thought process but did not show it.
"Relax, Martin, he did nothing to me. I woke up on the sofa and my clothes were intact. Robin is quite principled. He would never take advantage of a helpless woman."
Martin felt awful at how she quickly defended Robin. He feared that if things continued like this, he would soon be pushed to the side, especially when Sabrina would be working frequently with Robin. Martin was not liking it.
"Sabrina, are you still in love with him?"
Sabrina was irritated but thought to make her stance clear. At least, she relied on Martin's presence to get over Robin so she could not keep mute and let him have strange ideas.
"Martin, everything I ever felt for Robin died after that dinner. I have forgiven him but that is all there is and I would never welcome any relationship from him. That reminds me, let me check my messages."
Sabrina realized she had not checked her phone when she woke up except when she received Devin's call and feared that she must have missed out on vital information.
As soon as she unlocked her phone, her eyes opened so wide, Martin was scared. "What is the problem?"
