Chapter 91 – Her next antenatal
Robin wanted to ask about what had happened, but since Daniel had said that he was already on his way to the office, he thought it was better to talk about it when he arrived and asked,2
"How long will it take?"
"I'm just parking my car," Daniel responded.
"Great. I have a meeting in an hour," Robin informed him before hanging up the phone. Within a few minutes, Daniel walked in and sat in front of Robin.
"We have a problem," Daniel spoke while setting up his laptop.
"What?" Robin asked, and Daniel stared at him oddly. He thought that Robin already knew, but his reaction said otherwise. Daniel asked rhetorically,
"You don't know that everything about Mara has been wiped with only information about her death?"
"By who?"
Robin checked his time and asked. It seemed like this might take more than an hour, and he had to know whether or not he needed to adjust the time for his meeting.
"I don't know, Robin, I've been trying for hours, and nothing would come up about the hacker," Daniel complained bitterly for the first time.
He was top notch and would always crush his enemies under his feet but this was the first time he found himself in a situation like this.
"That means he's better than you," Robin pointed out. Daniel was offended but also realized it was the truth.
One of the best qualities of great hackers was their ability to hide their identity, so if this one could not be traced, then Daniel could not deny that he was better.
"I guess."
"Then I should rather employ him and fire you," Robin said seriously. Daniel's eyes widened. It was a fact that Robin always liked to work with the best, but Daniel never thought he would push him away the moment a better hacker came into the picture, especially when they were best friends.
"Robin!" Daniel exclaimed, and Robin chuckled,
"I'm just kidding, but first of all, take down the news about Sabrina and me."
Daniel's eyes squinted at the request. Was this not what he asked Robin before? "What made you change your mind?"
Robin shrugged and hid the pain. Sabrina did not want anyone to see them together. Her pictures and videos of her and Martin were still trending, and Robin was envious, though his countenance was calm.
"She called to request it."
"I see. It's down."
Daniel was already working on it while Robin spoke because the latter had said that he had a meeting in an hour. Daniel wanted to ensure that Robin did not miss his meeting because of him.
Robin sent a one-word text message to Sabrina, 'Done.'
There was an equally one-word response, 'Thanks.'
Robin did not understand what he was feeling, but everytime Sabrina acted distant towards him, his heart ached, and he desired what they had before.
He wished he could make it up to her, but there did not seem to be a way with Zayla in the picture.
"Now, how do we find this hacker," Robin asked, bringing his attention to the latest information, for which reason Daniel had to rush down to his office.
"When I was taking my training in certified hacking, only one guy was ahead of me, but he only kept to himself. I can't even remember his name," Daniel raked his mind and spoke.
"You suspect it's him?" Robin asked seriously. If he knew the hacker's identity, then he'd know what to do. Daniel was not sure, but he could not think of any other hacker who was better than him.
"I don't have anyone else in mind, but I think I should get help," he suggested. Robin was not ready to deal with people he could not trust and asked seriously,
"From who?"
Daniel combed his hair with his fingers and sighed frustratedly, "I don't know, but I have to find this hacker before he messes us up."
Robin smiled a little, feeling that Daniel was exhausted and was not thinking straight. He was almost certain that Daniel could do this on his own if he put his mind to it. As such, he suggested calmly,
"Daniel, you've been working very hard. I think you should take a few days off to help you start over with renewed energy."
When Daniel thought about the suggestion, he felt that Robin had a good point. He had less sleep and worked through the night. On Fridays, he'd visit the club with Robin and fuck some bitches.
He needed a break from it all. It wasn't fun anymore, and he wanted to get out of that irresponsible life.
He also felt that with this short break, he would have the calmness to set his mind in motion again.
"You are right. All work and no play makes Daniel a dull boy. I think it's time to make a move on Lizzy. I will go to her office tomorrow."
Daniel was only suggesting something adventurous to keep his mind off work for a little while, but Robin was concerned for him and warned seriously,
"Be careful not to get your ass kicked by her violent brother."
Daniel seemed to have forgotten about Devin but as soon as Robin mentioned him, Daniel had a change of plan. He didn't want to offend the brother of the woman he wanted to pursue, lest he made things difficult for him.
"Don't worry, I know how to handle the likes of him," Daniel smiled and spoke. Then he checked his phone, at the same time his eyes widened as he informed, "guess what? Sabrina has her next antenatal on Friday, just a day before the party."
Robin's heart did a flip. Now he would have a reason to be close to Sabrina and he could not help smiling at the thought of the probability.
"Sounds like the best news ever," he responded with a smile, just as Aria entered the office and said,
"Sir, the board members are waiting for you in the conference room."
