Chapter 92 – Daniel’s strategy
The next day, Daniel went to JC Clothing to see Lizzy. At the reception, he was having a hard time with the playboy he was. It was not easy for him to convince the receptionist to let him in.0
"Hi, I'm Daniel Root, and I want to see Elizabeth James," he posed in front of the receptionist and requested.
The receptionist checked through the guest list and did not see a name that looked or sounded like his, so she asked,
"Is it official or personal?"
"Personal," Daniel responded and leaned in. The receptionist blushed at the closeness but responded professionally,
"I'm sorry, she's very busy."
"Business," Daniel quickly changed his stand after seeing his mistake. If he used a personal reason, then it meant that, indeed, if Lizzy was busy, she would not have time for personal stuff. Whiles he thought that was the end, the receptionist asked again,
"Do you have an appointment?"
"No, but it's business. I want her to design a dress for my girlfriend," Daniel quickly came up with the idea.
The receptionist glanced at him, feeling that his girlfriend was lucky. She called Lizzy on the intercom.
"Miss Chance, there is a man here, Daniel Root. He says he wants you to design a dress for his girlfriend."
"Okay, let him in," Lizzy responded from the end of the line. Since she heard about a dress being designed, she did not think of the fact that the name sounded familiar.
As soon as Daniel walked in, Lizzy regretted it. "You! What do you want here?" She asked in annoyance while polishing some sketches. Daniel looked around the office admiringly,
"Nice office. I guess you never feel bored with all those designs on the wall."
"What do you want?" Lizzy asked seriously, not wanting any friend of Robin close to her. Daniel smiled at her. Her seriousness got him even more attracted to her whiles he responded,
"Like I said, I want you to design a dress for my girlfriend."
Lizzy paused what she was doing, and Daniel felt he got her attention this time.
"What kind of dress?" She asked him while flipping the large sheet to the back to make room for a fresh one.
"Party dress to be used to attend the General's daughter's welcome party," Daniel quickly thought of an excuse and spoke.
"What is your preference?" Lizzy asked again, not suspecting that his only reason for being there was to see her. Daniel was serious throughout the discussion.
"I don't know, and that's why I'm here," he seriously responded and sat in front of her. Lizzy did not apologize for not offering him a seat earlier and only went on to say,
"Then you will pay a lot."
"Money is not a problem," Daniel agreed.
She brought out her catalog of designs and said,
"I will give you a few samples to choose from."
Daniel shook his head and stared at her. Even though she looked tired, she was still breathtaking. "Like I said, I don't even know what she'd like. It's a surprise."
Lizzy sat back in her chair, stared at him, and asked, "So, what do we do?"
Devin looked her in the eyes and suggested, "Let's do it this way, design the dress to your preference. If you were attending that party, what would you wear to stand out?" He smirked.
Lizzy felt that he wanted to surprise his girlfriend but did not know what she liked, so she asked him,
"Do you want just the design, or do you want us to sow the dress as well?"
"You design and sow," Daniel smiled with satisfaction since she had gotten the idea of what he was looking for.
Lizzy began to jot down a few things whiles she asked again,
"What is her dress size?"
Daniel panicked a little before he quickly relaxed to not create suspicion. He never thought about that question and did not prepare a response for it. He smiled a little, and spoke mischievously,
"I have no idea, but she's just your height and size. Like, there are no differences between your sizes."
Lizzy frowned a little, feeling weird about his description. Even she and Sabrina had dissimilarities.
"Do you have a picture of her?" She asked, trying to confirm if what he was saying is true.
Daniel saw through her smartness and responded cunningly," Yes, but I won't let you see. You are a professional, so I want to see what you got."
Lizzy sighed frustratedly and gave up. "Fill out this form. I will have your bill prepared."
Daniel obeyed and elegantly filled out the form. Lizzy made a few calls, and a few minutes later, an accounts clerk walked in with an envelope. She took it and explained after the clerk left,
"You have to make part payment and pay the rest upon delivery. Due to the limited time, I shifted it to express, which adds a fifty percent increase to the price. It shall be delivered in the morning of the party."
"Thank you," Daniel took the bill and said whiles he transferred the complete amount with some extra. "I want the dress delivered by you," he demanded.
Her brows raised, so he showed her the payment alert and her brows creased,
"You paid more."
"Yeah, so you'll do the delivery yourself," Daniel insisted. Lizzy smiled. It wasn't the first time she made a delivery. It was always dependent on the client.
Sometimes, they would have to help the client to put on the dress and ensure that it was a perfect fit.
"Alright, I believe your girlfriend will marry you after she sees the dress," she smacked.
"Then my dreams would come through," Daniel said and stood up while looking at her intensely. This was the closest he got to see her and the first time they had a decent conversation.
As soon as he was about to leave, Devin entered, looking furious, "what do you want here?" He growled.
