Chapter 97 – Robin’s possessiveness of his ex-wife
Sabrina's jaw dropped, almost hitting the ground. For Robin to stay in the hospital with her? She imagined what had come over him. At the same time, she did not want him to do so.0
"What? And who takes care of Zayla? Don't forget you live together," Sabrina pointed out, trying to get him to change his mind, but he only shrugged,
"You don't care about Zayla. You just want me gone."
Sabrina did not feel guilty about the way he saw through her. She did not care and retorted in annoyance,
"I'm glad you can read between the lines."
Robin smiled and surprised her with his next words, "I will spend half the night here and come back in the morning." He did not mean it but only said it to give her false expectations.
However, even the half-night he talked about was enough to render Sabrina speechless. She could also sense trouble, especially with Zayla finding out that Robin has been here in the hospital with her.
"I still have to speak with Devin. Perhaps Lizzy would have to go and help my dad in the office since I would not be there."
Sabrina was only trying to buy time to call Devin to come since she hated Robin's presence, but Robin responded,
"All you need is your laptop. You can work from the hospital." Sabrina frowned deeply from his sudden concern as he added, "I will call Devin but let's move to the ward first.
After moving Sabrina to the VIP ward, Devin walked in with Martin, but Robin flared up and said to Martin,
"Mr. Dane, Sabrina is carrying my child, so throughout the time of her pregnancy, I don't want to see you around her if it's not business related. After she delivers the child, she would have to give me full custody if she wants you in her life."
Sabrina was so upset. It was as if they were still married, with Robin trying to have control of her social life. She was about to object when Martin frowned deeply, boiling from rage, and responded,
"Robin…"
"It's Mr. Jewel, Mr. Dane. We are not friends," Robin cut him off and spoke. Martin was sweating badly.
With every Information Robin had on Mara, he was already afraid of upsetting him, but after waiting for such a long time for Sabrina, Martin could not accept it.
"Mr. Jewel, Sabrina is my girlfriend, and I have every right to be here," Martin retorted defiantly.
Robin scoffed and glared at Martin,
"Well, she is carrying my child, so I will be in her life more times than you can imagine. Unless you want me to explain the details of the reason why you are not welcome here," Robin threatened subtly.
He was just being patient to know Mara's exact location before striking hard, but till then, he would use all his influence to kick Martin out of Sabrina's life.
At the threat, Martin turned mute. He already foresaw that Robin did not believe the fake news about Mara's death, and that meant he was still on the lookout for her. No matter how troublesome Mara was, Martin loved his sister and would protect her.
Turning to Sabrina, who had paled from how neither her brother nor Martin could stand up to Robin, Martin said to her, "It's alright, Sabrina. I will see you later."
Before Martin reached the door, Sabrina said, "Robin, I want him to stay."
Robin was upset at the request but only blamed himself for it. He looked at Sabrina and said, "If it's work-related, then fine, but aside from that, no. Unless you want me to announce to the world that you are carrying my child."
Finding another means to blackmail Sabrina as well, she closed her eyes and gritted her teeth since she did not want the world to know that she was carrying her ex-husband's child.
In contrast, Devin was boiling with rage and could not take it anymore. "Robin, you are going too far," he snarled.
Robin glared at him and said softly, "One day, you will thank me for this."
Martin understood what Robin meant and wished that day would never come but Devin and Sabrina didn't. Devin walked Martin to the door and apologized,
"I'm so sorry for this."
Martin shook his head, slightly afraid of what Devin would think of him if he found out that Mara was his sister. It might end their decades of friendship. Whereas, he still felt helpless in the situation. "It's not your fault. Robin has always been like that."
"I will talk to you tomorrow," Devin said to him before closing the door. He could not believe that after all their plans to keep Robin away from Sabrina, he still found his way into her life. At least Sabrina hated Robin now so Devin did not worry so much.
After Martin left, Devin called his dad, Lizzy and Matilda on the phone to explain the situation. They were worried and since his dad was already on his way home with Lizzy, he did a U-turn to the hospital.
Whereas Devin went to the penthouse to bring Matilda. Whiles he was away, Robin stepped out of the ward when the doctor was attending to Sabrina and called Daniel on the phone.
"Robin, is everything alright?" Daniel asked worriedly. Knowing how busy their days have been, no one called the other if it was not serious.
"No. She is on admission," Robin stated calmly. Daniel felt it might be serious and was greatly disturbed,
"Sorry. So, are you home already?" He asked.
"No. I plan to sleep over at the hospital. Can you get me some clothes from my penthouse?" Robin asked pleadingly, knowing that Daniel was very busy.
"And what about Zayla?" Daniel asked. He did not want to see Zayla, which was known to Robin that Daniel and Zayla never clicked.
"That is another reason why I want you to go there. Please take care of her for me," Robin requested but Daniel was not having it. To spend the night at Robin's penthouse with Zayla? That sounded like torture to Daniel.
"I will rather take care of Sabrina while you go to Zayla," Daniel suggested.
Robin hated the idea. He did not want to miss out on the calmness he felt around Sabrina. Who knew when he would get the opportunity again when Sabrina was discharged?
"Daniel, please help me out. I know you don't like Zayla but please do this for me."
Daniel sighed frustratedly at the end of the line, "Fine. I will let you know how it goes."
Robin returned to the ward the same time the doctor said, "I have administered the antibiotics and she's drowsy. The next one will be in twelve hours."
Robin nodded his head and when the doctor left, he adjusted the covers on Sabrina. She opened her eyes drowsily. "You don't have to stay Robin, please go to Zayla."
Robin smiled bitterly and responded, "why do I feel like you are avoiding my presence? Should I say that you are still in love with me?"
