Chapter 99 – Robin kissed Sabrina?
Robin was very happy to win Cobby's trust after all he did to Sabrina. He agreed that he did not deserve any appreciation from Cobby because he was doing it for Sabrina.0
"And I am not asking for appreciation. If anything, I should be the one apologizing for how I alienated her from her family. For not caring about her before," Robin said with remorse, but Cobby was interested in the reason for his sudden change.
He wondered if it was just because of the unborn child or if Sabrina's love for him paid off. From Robin's countenance and the light in his eyes every time he mentioned Sabrina, Cobby could tell that his cells were not dead.
It could be that Robin only realized that he felt something for Sabrina after the divorce. If that was the case, then Cobby felt that Sabrina's loving Robin all these years was not in vain.
At least she was able to dig a hole in his heart that only she could fill.
"And what changed your mind now?" Cobby asked seriously. Robin had just won Cobby's trust again after a long time and did not want to ruin it with any lie. He could deny it when with Daniel but not with an experienced man like Cobby.
"I don't know, but sometimes, you don't know what you have until you lose it."
Cobby understood that Robin regretted his actions, and that was enough for him. Patting Robin on the shoulder, he said something that brought Robin to tears,
"I wish your father was alive to witness this."
Robin was stubborn when his father was alive. He never gave the man joy but pain because of his womanizing lifestyle.
Now, he wished there was a way he could make it up to his father and apologize for his mistakes.
No one made him miss his father the way Cobby did right now. Before he uttered a word of appreciation, Cobby had already walked away.
He felt saddened because of how Robin's father had high hopes for Robin and Sabrina but did not get the chance to see his son showing Sabrina any form of kindness.
By the time Robin and Cobby went back, Matilda had arrived with Devin, but she and Robin pretended to not have met before and only exchanged greetings.
Now that Matilda was there, Devin found the perfect opportunity to kick Robin out, but sadly, Robin was still as stubborn as hell.
"Robin, Matilda is Sabrina's best friend, and she is here to take care of her. You can go now."
When he looked at Matilda, she shook her head slightly in a way Devin did not notice. She did not want Robin away from Sabrina. Robin shifted his gaze to Devin and asked sarcastically,
"Matilda might be her best friend, but is she the father of the child she's carrying?"
Devin's eyes squinted. He hated that Robin seemed to have an answer to every question. First, he got rid of Martin like he was nothing, and now, he still won't leave even when Matilda was there to take care of Sabrina.
She delayed because she won't leave the house without preparing a hot meal for Sabrina and getting her comfortable clothes as well. It was the mark of a good wife, which made Devin's heart warm up to her even more.
However, he could not stand Robin's presence and wanted him out of his sister's life for good. Glaring coldly at Robin, he said,
"I won't pretend that I like you."
Robin shrugged. At least Matilda trusted him, and now, even Cobby. Devin was just blind, and he was not going to waste his time on the likes of him.
"I don't care. For as long as she is carrying my child, I will see her as often as I can."
"Watching you act all possessive of my sister; someone would be deceived to think that you care. But I know that the only reason you are here is because of the child in her womb, and that makes you the worst person alive," Devin declared coldly, wishing that Robin would counter it.
Robin wanted to. He wanted to announce that he had made a mistake, but he also felt that Devin would not believe him no matter what since he was upset about the fact that Robin had sent Martin away.
At that, Robin stared at him with sadness but held his tongue.
Unfortunately, his inability to defend himself from the accusation was a confirmation to Devin that he was right in his judgment and Robin did not deserve to be close to his sister. Sabrina deserved better. She had the right to be happy and be with a man who would treat her like the good woman she was.
He turned his attention to Lizzy, who sat on a chair next to her dad. Cobby did not interfere in Devin and Robin's cold war since he knew that everything Devin was doing was because of Martin.
"Lizzy, will you help Dad tomorrow?" Devin asked since Sabrina would not be able to go to work, and Lizzy was conversant about the job.
Lizzy felt sorry because she was overwhelmed with designs. Due to the Mayor's birthday party, she received a lot of requests for Matilda's reunion party as well, and she was also designing a surprise dress for both Matilda and Sabrina.
"Devin, our deadline for the designs is short," she said apologetically. She never refused Devin anything and felt saddened to do so now.
Robin stared at Devin and shook his head. It was good to pamper Sabrina, but since she jumped into the world of business, it should not be taken from her because of a little sickness.
"Get Sabrina her laptop. She won't be sleeping all day. Due to her condition, she has to learn to work remotely because these things can happen at any time."
Devin did not agree or disagree, but neither did he say anymore. Robin was right, but Devin was a little ashamed of the fact that Robin seemed to know Sabrina better than him.
Lizzy and Cobby were about to leave when Robin said,
"Matilda, you should leave too. Come back early in the morning. I will be in the office by then."
He intentionally said it in front of Cobby, so he wouldn't have to get into another word drama with Devin.
Matilda looked at Devin, and when he did not refuse, she agreed. Before Devin left, he said to Robin,
"If anything happens to my sister, you are the cause."
Robin returned his cold look and responded, "Nothing will happen to her while I am here."
As they left, Robin looked at his ex-wife longingly while she slept like a baby. The next moment, his lips pressed against her forehead.
