Prologue
Prologue.1
My thoughts blurred like oil stains in water. I seem to be conscious, but it seems like I'm still asleep. I don't have any questions, everything is going as it should. But, some tiny worm of doubt appears when I think that flying naked in the dark void is a little abnormal for me. And, I wasn't sure if it was weird or not, when I was blinded by a bright flash.
- What? I gasped, closing my eyes and covering my eyes with my hands.
There was a soft chime.
I rubbed my eyes a little, although I didn't need to, my vision was fine. As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw the inscription glowing in the darkness around me.
[A new game is started.]
[Choose two main characteristics!]
[Strength
[Agility]
[Endurance]
[Charisma]
[Intelligence]
[Luck]
I tilted my head and stared blankly at the glowing window.
I remember dozens of similar choices when I created characters in various games with a similar role-playing system. If you want to develop into a "tank", you need to take strength and endurance. And if you're a magician, you need intelligence and, uh, well, most importantly, intelligence. And for a killer or shooter, you need skill and luck. Charisma, well, in some games, it can also be useful.
And, since I was still in a somewhat vague state of half-sleep, I just trusted the gaming experience. Previously, my favorite classes in games were killers and shooters. But lately I've started to like playing for stronger classes, so I've decided to take strength and stamina now.
[ Choose five talents. ]
[These are skills that will develop faster than any other.]
Ha!
I thought the stats would be the end of it. And I'll Wake up? Hmm, okay.
A whole wall of text opened up in front of me. Dozens, hundreds, perhaps thousands of so-called skills. Possession of the sword, bureaucracy, cooking, what is there just was not. Even "skills" that were more like blessings, like attracting money.
It took me a long time. In my head, I gradually formed the image of a game character, a strong and strong warrior who can not only withstand a lot of damage, but also independently deal with the enemy. For some reason, it didn't even occur to me that the character I was creating could take up a peaceful profession. I've only seen him in endless battle with game monsters and other players. That's why I had the appropriate choice.
[Development of the body.]
[You run faster, jump higher, lift more weight, and get tired more slowly. It is easier for you to get in shape and keep it in shape, and harder to weaken and get fat.]
[Depends on the "strength, agility, endurance" characteristics of the fortress.]
[You are much better at holding a punch. Your body becomes more resistant to damage and you are harder to discard.]
[Depends on the characteristics of "strength, endurance Regeneration.]
You tend to recover quickly. Small wounds heal right before your eyes. And even fatal wounds are not so fatal for you.
Depends on the "endurance"
Power characteristic.
Physical attacks deal increased damage.
Depends on the "strength"
Survivability characteristic.
You have an increased health reserve. You can withstand more damage and survive even with multiple fatal wounds. You are easier to tolerate diseases and have increased resistance to poisons.
Depends on the "endurance" characteristic, my image of my character was almost ready in my imagination. I imagined such a paladin in knight's armor, with a sword and shield.
[Choose a vocation!]
[This is a special unique talent that does not depend on the characteristics and cannot be obtained in any other way.]
[Hero (this call will give you the strength necessary to the accomplishment of feats)]
[Empath (this call will allow you to discover all the secrets of the senses)]
[Mystic healer (this call will reveal the mystical power of the Kingdom of life)]
[Conqueror (this call will give you extremely powerful tools of suggestion and control)]
[Conductor (this call will allow you to use the secret knowledge of the ways)]
[Twilight (the calling will reveal the power of shadows)]
There weren't as many vocations as there were ordinary talents, so I actually breathed a sigh of relief. Still, I'm a little tired of doing all this. And, oddly enough, there was only one vocation for my character. Of course, I chose a hero!
[Vocation selected!]
[capacity Building completed.]
[Get ready for a new era!]
As I read the last line, I suddenly felt an explosion inside me.
My mind was flooded with bright light, and my body burned as if I had been thrown into a bath of acid. My lungs burned from the inside out, and I couldn't hold back a scream that somehow turned into a cry.
Heck!
I feel like
I've been hung up on a hook.
I'm in hell! Not that I'm particularly religious. But if there was a hell, it would look like this.
And, obviously, the demon lashed me right in the soft spot! This is not only painful, but also humiliating.
- Haha, you have a very healthy baby. The loud, distorted voices of the monsters rang out.
I didn't even hear the words, it was just an inarticulate howl. My eyes watered from the light of the Hellfire. And even the very air of Hell tried to burn out my eyes, as well as all the insides when breathing. Naturally, I tried to free myself, but my arms and legs wouldn't obey me, they just twitched randomly. Meanwhile, the demons wrapped me in something. Could it be human skin?
- Show it to me, the new monster's voice said Hoarsely.
I was moved.
My vision was already beginning to recover, or at least I could see the blurry spots. The light no longer seemed so ominous. And the demons around me have become more human. Even their eerie voices sounded more like human speech than the screams of hellish creatures. And when I was given into the hands of another monster, he pressed me to him with such tenderness that I was even confused. It gradually dawned on me that I wasn't in Hell at all. I felt like I was born again. It's a disgusting feeling.
