In the meantime, inside the house...2

A member of the Shadow Corp was checking on Li Nanli's condition, his face grim. 

"We have to get him to the hospital right away. Can you see the metal piece in his chest? He won't hold on for long."

"Is there no other way to handle this?" Liu Mi asked, his voice dripping with anxiety.

"Without any medication or professional equipment, he might get an infection or start bleeding. Brother Liu, it's not that I don't want to do anything. It's just that there's nothing I could do!"

"So we have to get him to the hospital?"

"Yes, as soon as possible. He won't be able to hold on any longer." 

A member of the Shadow Corp also chimed in. "Should we negotiate with the bunch of mercenaries outside? It will do them no good if they help the Zheng Family attack us!" 

If it were only the Zheng Family, these mercenaries would undoubtedly not dare go up against them. What Liu Mi was worried about was that there might be other forces behind this ambush and the Zheng Family was just used as a scapegoat. 

"Listen to me." Liu Mi took a look at his watch and said, "Xiang Qian, go get Yu Sheng. We're going to split into two teams. One team will follow me to attract their attention, while you and Yu Sheng are going to lead another team. You guys have to protect President Li at any cost." 

"But Brother Liu!" Xiang Qian looked at him, his eyes red around the rims. "Can't we go together? At least let me attract their attention. I guess the reinforcements are on their way here. Brother Liu, the Li Corporation needs you, and I…"

"Now is not the time to be swayed by your feelings and act rashly," Liu Mi said as he threw a bag into Xiang Qian's hand. "You won't be able to hold them back. Keep going south. There's a hospital around Lucky Cloud Pavilion, and no matter what it takes, you have to take President Li there. Remember, if the hospital cannot save him, go look for Ms. Fu."

"But Fu Zhi…"

"Just do as I say!" Liu Mi snarled. Then, he took a deep breath and added, "Take care of President Li. He's in your hands now."

Everyone's eyes turned red when they heard what Liu Mi had said. All of them knew what would happen to Liu Mi. They did not have sufficient manpower and weapons under the circumstances, so there was only one possible end for him: death. 

The atmosphere in the house was tense. 

Liu Mi then continued to give out orders. "Stop shilly-shallying. We don't have much time left. Xiang Qian, go get Yu Sheng now. Lao Wang, you pick a few people and come with me."

"Roger!" everyone replied in chorus. 

Xiang Qian opened his mouth, trying to say something, but the words could not come out of his mouth when he met Liu Mi's determined gaze. His eyes were red, and he walked toward the door. Just as he put his hand on the handle and was about to open the door, the door was opened from the outside.

Amidst the fluttering snow, the first thing Xiang Qian saw was that person's apathetic gaze. There was a ponytail swaying behind her head, and she was wearing black trousers and a bulletproof vest. Her face was dirty, and it seemed as if she had just rolled in the dirt. 

After Fu Zhi opened the door, she scanned the entire house. Li Nanli was lying in the center of a group of people, and the man nearest to him was tending to his wound. However, all he could manage was to offer a simple treatment. He was not professional at all, and his hands were shivering badly. 

Li Nanli's white shirt was drenched in blood.

Everyone turned their heads around and took a step forward vigilantly. They all pulled their guns out and pointed at the door. "Who's there!"

"Ms. Fu?!" The first one to come around to his senses was Liu Mi. "Put your guns down!" 

Then, he got to his feet and walked up to Fu Zhi. "What are you doing here, Ms. Fu? Who sent you here?"

He could not believe that Fu Zhi would come to a dangerous place like this alone.

"Open the window. Let some fresh air come in and ask your people to take a step back."

Fu Zhi did not have time to explain to Liu Mi. She put the first-aid kit on the floor and pulled out two disposable medical gloves.

However, just as she was about to go up to Li Nanli to tend to his wound, Xiang Qian took a step forward and put himself between Fu Zhi and Li Nanli.

Fu Zhi lifted her head, and the young man pointed his gun at her. "Stay away from President Li!"

"Xiang Qian!' Liu Mi was startled. "What the hell are you doing? Get out of the way! Ms. Fu is going to save President Li!" 

However, Xiang Qian refused to listen to Liu Mi's order. He stood firmly in front of Li Nanli and said, "Don't you feel strange, Brother Liu? The entire mountain is now being controlled by those mercenaries. Even professionals like us can't get out of here, so how is there any possibility a girl like her could make it here?

"Also, do you remember the meeting that took place this morning? Young Master Jiang said that Old Master Zheng is seriously ill, but she's the one who said that it was fake news and insisted that President Li change our plan. If President Li hadn't changed the plan, Young Master Jiang would have come with us to the banquet and things wouldn't have been so bad!

"Right now, we don't even know if Young Master Gu is alive or not. In my opinion, she's working for them. She didn't come here to save President Li, but to kill him!" 

"Ms. Fu would never do anything to harm President Li. I'm only going to say this once: Get out of the way!" Liu Mi snarled. 

Xiang Qian set his jaw tight, and the other members of the Shadow Corp chimed in. "I think Xiang Qian has a point. How could she, a girl, come here under the nose of the Phantom Lord?"

"She's indeed the one who disrupted our plan this morning. If she had not, President Li would not have dispatched a team to keep an eye on the Zheng Mansion and things would not have ended up like this tonight!"

"That's right! She has to give us an explanation, or we won't let her get near President Li!" 

Liu Mi then said exasperatedly, "Why the hell do you guys have to fight with each other at a time like this?"

"This is not about fighting with each other, Brother Liu. We don't know anything about her, and unless she can prove her innocence, we won't let her go near President Li!"

Xiang Qian paused for a moment before adding, "Brother Liu, we're on the same team, but I'm not so sure about her. Besides, Young Master Jiang warned us about her, so you must not be deceived by her!"

"I said, move aside." Fu Zhi interrupted before Liu Mi could say anything. Her patience was running low. She flung her scalpel at Xiang Qian, and while Xiang Qian dodged, she seized the chance and went up to Li Nanli. 

The rest of the people in the house were stunned by the sudden turn of events. They all surrounded Fu Zhi and pointed their guns at her.

"Lower your guns!"

"Put your guns down!"

Two voices rang out at the same time. Liu Mi spun around, and his eyes widened in shock when he saw Gu Yanqi.

"Young Master Gu?" Xiang Qian shouted. "You're alive!"

"Yes. Xiang Qian, listen to me and put your gun down."

Unlike Liu Mi, Gu Yanqi could pull his weight in the Shadow Corp.

Thus, they all reluctantly put their guns down. However, they all fixed their gazes on Fu Zhi, who was disinfecting the scalpel in her hand, as if they were going to pounce on her if she showed even a single hint of hostility toward Li Nanli.
