"Just so you know, Wen Shan, I've read your thesis and some parts will need to be corrected. Nevertheless, I just saw the news about Mr. Gu's wedding. You should enjoy the wedding first," Ding Junhui mentioned over the phone.2

"Mr. Ding, you read my thesis?" Wen Shan scratched her head, feeling uncomfortably awkward.

"So that was actually the first draft, and you once said that the first draft will never be near perfect so I am prepared to accept any comments on the mistakes I might have made. Thank you for taking out some time to review my thesis though, some of the calculations really gave me a headache."

"Don't mention it, I had some free time anyway. We'll talk tomorrow, you should go enjoy the wedding."

"Sure. Thank you, Mr. Ding," Wen Shan said with a wide smile. Finally, the phone call was over.

Wen Shan put her handphone away and silence once again engulfed the car.

Nalan Chunbo remained silent.

Wen Shan lifted her head. The resort was a few hours away and she felt like she might suffocate in the silence.

Why did Sister Mo Fei decide to change cars? Wen Shan wondered, carefully keeping her gaze on Nalan Chunbo. "Mr. Nalan, may I know why Sister Mo Fei suddenly decided to change cars?"

Mr… Nalan?

That triggered Nalan Chunbo.

Wen Shan didn't mean to call him by that name but that time when Nalan Chunbo lost his composure and went mad had really traumatized her. Nalan Chunbo told her not to call him papa because it disgusted him.

Those words had hurt her feelings. All she did was admire him, she didn't expect it to make him feel disgusted.

It was hilarious. 

"Most probably she finds me boring." At last, he spoke.

After hearing those words, Wen Shan chuckled. Nalan Chunbo was truly a boring person. It was like she had to say a hundred sentences to just get a single sentence in reply.

Wasn't that the epitome of being boring?

"Do you also think that I am a bore?" Nalan Chunbo asked suddenly.

"Huh?" Wen Shan quickly lifted her head. She wasn't sure of what she had just heard.

After making sure that she didn't mishear him, she replied, "No, most probably it's because the person who you find interesting has yet to appear." Wen Shan's voice lowered at the end of her sentence.

Would Nalan Chunbo realize the sudden change in volume? 

She had tried to cover it up.

She thought that she had given up but when Nalan Chunbo once again appeared out of nowhere, she knew that it was her expression and attitude that had dulled, not her feelings.

Somehow, deep down in her heart, she still had a soft spot for him.

Since they had started talking, it was as if a trigger had been activated, and the silence between them had dissipated.

"I heard from Weiwei that you're planning to stay back and continue teaching. That is actually very good," Nalan Chunbo said.

Wen Shan looked at Nalan Chunbo, took a deep breath and reminded herself, 'Don't overthink this, he's just trying to find a topic to initiate conversation. It's not like he cares for you.' 

"Yes, I am staying back to teach. I want to start off as an assistant lecturer. Who knows maybe in the near future, some young man who's the new dean might appear and I will become the dean's wife. Haha, isn't my goal very ambitious?" Wen Shan forced herself to speak in a lighthearted tone.

See? She could make this work.

Nalan Chunbo's heart sank but he nodded. "That day will definitely come, you deserve it."

The atmosphere in the car turned somber.
