"Clifford, I'm so sorry…" Lance choked in his tears and he trembled and started to weep.0

"Sorry? For what? What are you talking about, Lance?" Clifford looked around, "…What are you sorrowful about?!"

Clifford wanted to shout at each of them because he can't understand why they look so gloomy and miserable.

'These people are crazy.' He thought.

"Ingrid… she's…" Lance heaved a grieving sigh and almost chokes, "she's in danger and the twins…"

Clifford feels numb all over him as if he was hit by a bomb.

'NO! NO! NO! THIS CAN'T BE!' he screamed in his mind. He's strong grip on Lance loosened and his steps went backward as he stares hard and long on Lance.

"You're lying, you bastard!" he roared, he wanted to punch and punished everyone who's present that time.

"Why didn't you protect her? Why I didn't protect her?" His tears are streaming on his face. And without warning, he gets on his knees and wailed.

He wanted to blame all of them for not protecting her precious wife on time. But he could not because it is his duty to protect her and their children. He wanted to console himself that everything will be alright but he could not because of the reality that his wife and their unborn children are in danger.

He wanted to go inside the operating room but his strength fails him.

"Why can't I protect them? Oh GOD! Spare my precious wife and our twins please. I beg you." he uttered in his sobs. Nevertheless, he needed to be strong for his family.

He swore in his wrath that whoever did this to his wife and twins will suffer decay. He will not rest until he finds them and punish them slowly until their sanity left them.

Lance weeps with him. Clifford has been his love rival before but seeing him in this state makes him realize that he and Ingrid are just good for being siblings, he could not level up to Clifford's love to Ingrid. Even he, himself felt helpless the moment he heard the news, he also blamed himself for not being there for Ingrid and to save her on time.

There's no sound could be heard outside the operating room but only the weeping of the man whose soul is grieving over his wife and their unborn children. His men create a barricade to hide their master's sorry state against the onlookers and shooed them away sternly. His kneeling went on and ignored the pain he feels because for him it could not equal to the pain his wife is facing now.

While he's still hauling over the coals to himself, his phone rings and he accidentally answered it in his surprise…

"DADDY! DADDY! Are you in Vienna now? I miss you so much and dad, mommy's still not around can you find her please?" it's Clark who called and this sent shivers to his spine as he's clueless on how to answer his son.

Clifford covered his mouth and took the phone away from his ears so that his son won't hear his bawl and it feels like forever before he answered his son. He sniffs first and cleared his throat.

"Daddy? Are you still there?" Clark called.

"Son, yes, I'm still here. I miss you and mommy…" he bit his lips again to stop his sobbing. "… yes, I'll take care of them," he said instead.

"Dad, are you okay? Are you crying? Are you having a hard time in your company? Just wait till I grow up okay? I'll definitely help you."

'How I wish it's just some business, Clark..'

"I'm looking forward to that son, I can't wait to see you grow up… I've gotta go, I need something to do.. see you soonest, son. Please do take care and don't leave the house unless I'm around okay?"

"Okay. I love you daddy. You're the best in the world. Thank you for protecting, me, mommy and the twins."

"I love you, too, son.." hurriedly he hangs up the call because he's close to tears again and bitterness swelled in his heart.

'How can I face you, my son, after this?'

"General McQueen, I'm glad you heeded my request without prior notice." Gary bowed to the man before him.

The man laughed at him.

"I've been waiting for your call, Gary. Ever since I offered my help you never called me. It's been years since you and Griffith helped me get back on track. I owe you my life. It seems that the situation is indeed delicate."

When McQueen was still a Captain, he was tortured by some groups because he sacrificed himself so that he could save the remaining soldiers who were alive at the attack and asked them to go and find rescue. However, the rescue did not come on time and he was severely wounded that they thought he's dead and thrown him somewhere out of reach.

Gary and Griffith were just around nineteen years old at that time and were wandering in some far flung areas to hunt for food since they were just poor and hunting was their way of survival. To their horror, they found McQueen and nursed him until he regained strength and offered to help them in everything.

McQueen was the one who paid for their schooling and the Grey's did not want it to receive it for free so they work for it despite McQueen's insistence.

"I'm hoping that someday I could be of use to both of you." McQueen declared.

That is why he's jumping for joy the moment Gary called him and without delay, he went straight to where Gary is and he investigated in advance about his predicament before Gary even asked of him.

"Have a seat General McQueen." Gary smiled politely. "I will not delay your time, I want you to investigated something. You see, my boss' wife met an accident after we received a threat at the mall. I was just suspecting that the person behind this knew our every move, but I don't know who. Everyone is a suspect."

"Yes, I already did some minor investigation because Griffith also gave me some hints. I've been doing some investigations regarding this lately and yes, you're right, someone unsuspecting is one of the culprits."

"One of the culprits? You mean, there's more?"

"Yes, the mastermind. These are just the pawns. Who have hatred either toward the young madam or to the master."
