He froze right in that instant, he thought that he just feeling things, and that it is not real. So he tested and tried to slowly lift his hand from Ingrid's grip. He wanted to make sure that this time it is real so that it won't add discouragement to him.1

Clifford remembered that the doctor told him because of the severe trauma she faced there is a possibility that she might have a temporary memory loss but they are still not sure unless his wife will wake up, only then they would scan her brain again. That is why Clifford was so occupy with that thought that he even had a nightmare, and his reality will now be tested.

Releasing a breathy sigh and then he took away his hand and to his utter surprise, he felt that his hand was faintly squeezed by his wife. He gulped once again and tried to pull away again but her hand now has more force and he heard her moan, as though she wanted to say something.

Instantaneously, he sat down beside her and holds her hand in between his hands. The sweat in his forehead slowly drips along with his tears. He delayed calling the doctors because he wanted to make sure that she's really awake, finally.

A soft moan was released by Ingrid as her body slowly rouse. Her eyelids fluttered and gradually, it opened. Adjusting her vision to the light since it has been almost a month that she lived in darkness.

Ingrid closed her eyes once again because the light stings and she also tried to feel her surroundings. She wanted to touch her tummy but she can't move it's like something is pressing on her arm. Her mind started to panic so she tried opening her eyes again and then she saw her husband, her handsome face is filled with tears, as if he's just soaked himself in the water.

She wanted to speak to him but there's no voice that comes out from her.

"OH GOD! AM I NOT DREAMING? ARE YOU FOR REAL, MY LOVE?" she heard him sobbed without noise, his voice hoarse.

She never saw any man cried like her husband. His beautiful blue eyes reside pain and relief and was it… fear? She shed tears as well.

'How long did I sleep? What happened to me?' her eyes did not wander anywhere and she tried to clear her throat but it stings.

Then she remembered something.

'My babies!' her eyes bulges, panic fill her eyes, and her body trembles.

It was then that she saw that her husband pressed a button and then seconds later, the attending nurses and some doctors rushed to her side.

"Mr. Briggs, please step aside for a moment so that we'll have a thorough check of your wife."

The man was left in daze as the attending nurses and doctor were busy checking her, and he saw that Ingrid tried to wriggle from them and wanted to say something but there is no voice that would come out from her. He wanted to be near her but he could not insert yet because they have to check everything first.

Clifford feared that Ingrid would have a temporary amnesia as what the doctor suspects that she will forget him just like what happen to his dream. He anticipated and dreaded this day at the same time. He walks back and forth, as he is so anxious of the result.

After several minutes, one by one, the nurses went outside leaving him and the attending doctor.

"Mr. Briggs, your wife is yet to fully recover and as of the moment she can't entirely talk straight but just to whisper and it'll take a day or two before she could able to talk normally." Clifford nodded enthusiastically and he rushed to her side and spoke.

"Does she have amnesia?" he straightforwardly asks.

"I suspect she has no amnesia. You can ask her now." The doctor smiled.

The poor man slowly went to Ingrid's side, looks at her with hesitation before he opened his mouth to ask,

"Do you know who I am?" his eyes are full of pleading.

He saw her smile, faintly and then she nodded at a snail's pace. For the first time, he howled loudly and wanted to jump up and down. The doctor smiled and had shed tears as well as he witnessed the struggle this man suffered while waiting for his wife to come back to life.

"I am willing to trade everything just to make you come back to me, love." he tenderly said.

She tried to smile the best way she can but Ingrid had another question in her mind and she tried squeezing her husband's hand to get his attention. When he felt it, he immediately leaned and listened to what she will say.

"T-the t--twins?" he heard her asked. Just then he remembered them.

"Don't worry about them, they're now safe and was placed in the incubator waiting for them to be stable. But for now, I just want you take everything slowly. I will just be here."

Upon hearing it, Ingrid felt relieved and can't wait to fully recover to have their twins in her arms. Ingrid then paused and looked at her husband who stared at her as though he's still could not believe that she's awake.

Even Ingrid could not believe that she could survive that crisis. But she couldn't do it if it were not for her husband. She wanted to give up and just want to die out rightly but every time she felt as if someone's calling her, some pleading voice, to come back, so she fought hard.

Her love for him flourishes more. Ingrid tried to reach out Clifford's face to touch and feel it. Clifford, on the other hand, leans to her slightly outstretched hand. He kissed it so tenderly while looking at her with much longing in his eyes.

"I love you." he said.

"I love you." she mouthed.
