Lance of Storms

The clouds churned and gathered as Ming Yue exerted her energy over the worldly laws. Her face was a bit strained as the drain on her power grew and grew. 

"This is... a lot more difficult... than I thought."

Ming Yue looked up, still pointing Blood Moon at the sky above the Earthbound Tortoise. It didn't even notice, in fact, not even the beast-kin noticed the darkening clouds, not until it was too late. The skies flashed, followed by an ear-shattering crack of thunder!

The tortoise stopped and looked up, sensing that something was amiss. And the beast quickly hid within its shell, knowing full well that it wouldn't escape this. 

"How far can I take this?" Ming Yue asked herself. 

The young cultivater pushed even more, letting nearly half of her strength be consumed for this one technique. 

"I think this fits the name 'Storm Lance' better."

Was it truly a technique? Or was this a test of her current ability?

Gazing up, the clouds churned and spun before gathering together, condensing into a lance of wind and lightning. It was massive, a hundred times larger than what Ming Yue had created before. And its power was incomparable. It even made the Earthbound Tortoise seem smaller. 

"What is this? Who is doing this?"

Qiuyu Bi looked up at the sky in both fear and awe. He tried to shield his eyes from the wind, looking up at the clouds. Ao Qin did the same as did everyone else. 

The dragon-kin stopped what he was doing, looking up before glancing at the Four Claws as well as the pair of individuals from before. They all shared a look with each other and then looked up. 

"Sheng'er! Get behind me with my grandson! Warriors of the Byakko! Get into formation."

A large figure stood in front of them, shielding them from the danger. Their clansmen went into a defensive formation, bringing their bodies together as shields. 

None other than Bai Sheng and her son, Xiao Bai, the pair did as told, getting behind the leader of the Byakko Clan. She held onto her son tightly, placing him just a bit behind her. Even then Xiao Bai peeked out, looking up at the sky with awe. 

He looked up at his mother, pointing at the growing attack. 

"Do you think it's Ming Yue?" he asked her. 

But Bai Sheng put a finger to her lips, quieting him. She then looked up at the sky, glancing at her son. 

"Maybe but let anyone hear you, don't forget what we promised her", she whispered back. 

Xiao Bai nodded, keeping his mouth closed. Still, he was looking up at the skies with a bright gleam in his eyes. In his heart, he knew it was her. 

Far ahead, Ao Qin stared up in surprise but quickly regained his composure. 

"What is that? Some secret weapon? Or is it..."

He then spun around looking all over with his heightened senses but found nothing, 

"It can't be her can it?" he wondered. 

As for the Four Claws, they just looked up. All of them had calm expressions because they knew, they knew that it was her. 

There was someone else as well, someone who furrowed his brows at this sight. There was no shock or surprise but determination and realization. 

"This must be it! What is in the North has come here! What is it? Where is it?!" 

Ruishi Lei bared his fangs. 

Just like Ao Qin, he searched the skies and the surrounding area, looking for anything out of the ordinary. However, he couldn't find anything in sight, nothing that seemed strange. But Ruishi Lei wasn't a dragon-kin, he was a lion-kin, his sense of smell was far better than his peers. 

Thus, he caught a scent. It was faint, very faint but he wrinkled his nose, looking in the direction of it. 

"It's there, the scent of blood is strong."

The White Lion growled before sprinting after, following the scent. He raced off, vanishing into the depths of the forests and jungles, searching for the origin of that scent. 

And Ming Yue was far too focused on the Earthbound Tortoise to notice his approach. 

Still pointing Blood Moon at the clouds, she brought the giant lance under her control. Gritting her teeth, the young cultivator looked down at the Earthbound Tortoise, swinging her sword down. 

And the lance moved in all of its power and might!

It spun rapidly, crackling with lightning!

At first, it descended slowly before suddenly shooting down, smashing into the mountainous shell of the Earthbound Tortoise! It was like a thunderous hammer, producing a shockwave through the air!

Everything trembled as dust flew and gathered everywhere. 

After that one strike, there was silence. 

"Hak! Hak! What happened? Did that thing die?" 

Qiuyu Bi coughed into his mouth, squinting his eyes and trying to see through the dust clouds. But it was too difficult to tell, in fact, no one could tell. It was quiet, not even a peep from the Earthbound Tortoise. 

But perhaps that silence was a good sign. 

Watching from above, Ming Yue didn't have a much better view but she could at least see that there wasn't any movement coming from the Earthbound Tortoise. She said nothing, just waiting and watching. If need be, she would conjure up a second one. 

Suddenly the Beast God's body trembled as the mountain atop its shell crumbled, revealing a crater where it used to be. Its head poked out, followed by the legs as it stood back up, roaring out loud. 

The hearts of the beast-kin sank just a bit. And Ming Yue prepared to summon one more lance. 

"Hm?" 

Much to their surprise, however, the Earthbound Tortoise seemed a bit unstable, leaning from one side to another. When the strength in its legs dwindled, the Beast God could no longer stand, collapsing to the ground with a boom. 

Minutes passed as everyone watched and waited but the Earthbound Tortoise could no longer fight. 

And then there was an eruption of cheers! 

"Yes! Another beast god to be slain!"

"That attack from before, are the Heavens aiding us?"

"We shouldn't waste this opportunity! We must finish the job!"

The celebration was short-lived as work needed to be done. Meanwhile, Ming Yue watched and smiled, descending to the ground, knowing that she had repaid the debt owed to Bai Sheng and her son.

But as she turned to go, she spun back around and swung out Blood Moon. 

There was a melodious clang as her sword was met with a clawed gauntlet. 

"This!"

Ming Yue's sword was stopped but she just pushed harder, sending the strike back. Coming face to face, she looked into the eyes of Ruishi Lei, that which carried a silver glow. Backing off, she pointed Blood Moon at him and the White Lion growled at her. 

"You... are you the one that sent that strike down? The one from the North?" he asked, bringing his claws forward. 

Finally catching up to the source of the scent, his hunch finally paid off, he was right. There was something here that none of the others were aware of! 

"Shit, to think I've been found. I can't let him track me down or give any clues. Should I kill him?" she thought. 

Ruishi Lei couldn't help but show some apprehension towards her.  2

"The scent of blood... how many Savage Beasts did she kill for it to be so strong?" he wondered. 

He had to have his guard up, if not, defeat was more than likely, rather death was waiting for him. But he had to know, he had to have his answers. 

Who was she? Why was she here? Why is she here?

Despite the questions he asked, Ming Yue did not answer them. Rather, she raised her sword and a pale blue aura arose from her and she vanished right before his eyes. 

"Wha- where did she go?!"
