Meeting With Bai Sheng

There was a moment of quiet before the door opened and Ao Qin entered the house. The Four Claws followed him in with Yu Tu last, turning to close the door behind her.

"Wait, there's someone else."

Bai Sheng suddenly stopped the rabbit-kin from closing it. She stared out at the partially opened door but there was nothing to come.

"There is no use hiding from me, I know that you are out there. Reveal yourself or I will force you out."

Her words came out calmly and firmly. It was a warning, her only warning.

Moments later, there was some movement as a figure came out and stepped forward, showing themselves to the others. Ao Qin suddenly narrowed his eyes as he looked.

"You?" he said aloud.

It was none other than Ruishi Lei that stood at the doorway and as the White Lion walked in, he closed the door behind him.

"Yes, it's me", he responded, "I noticed you all walking down the road together and I was curious. You seem to be hiding something from the others."

Ao Qin just scoffed and walked up to him, looking him right in the eyes.

"Of all the people who should be saying that, maybe you should go and ask your own tribe about secrets."

"Hm, I know that my father is hiding things from me. But whatever you are all hiding must be important and perhaps, it relates to the Phantom of the North", Ruishi Lei revealed.

"Why would you say that? Why would you think what we're discussing has anything to do with the phantom?" She Xing chimed in, looking at him with a guarded expression.

"Yeah, I know that the Phantom attacked you, but what does that have to do with us?" Qiang Rong asked as well.

Despite the questioning. the lion-kin showed no sign of panic, he just said a single thing to them.

"I know that she is a human."

That was enough to push everyone to a stop. In fact, it was so quiet that they could hear the trees swaying in the wind outside.

"Well... Shit, what are you going to do about it? Track her down and capture her for your father?"

Ao Qin looked at him seriously, even resting a hand on his blade. At this point, there was no reason to hide so his attitude changed completely, showing a more serious side as opposed to the lightheartedness he usually exuded.

Perhaps, he was thinking that someone needed to be silenced.

However, Ruishi Lei shook his head.

"No, it's not worth it and I have no enmity towards her", he said, "Nor do I have much loyalty towards my father, I'm doing this for my own curiosity."

"For your own curiosity? Why is that?"

Ao Qin narrowed his eyes, questioning the lion-kin but he answered back with his own questions.

"She is human, what is a human doing here? In the continent of beasts? How did she get here? Where did she come from? Is that not why you are here? To know who she is or what she is?"

"I- fine, yes, we have all encountered her in different situations."

The questions were enough for Ao Qin to stumble with his words but Ruishi Lei continued to talk.

"And now, you're all doing this secretive investigation, would it be wrong of me to do my own?", he said.

"Yo- I-"

In the midst of this little argument, the duo suddenly froze as they felt a cold stare on them.

"Are you two finished with your little quarrel?"

The pair were suddenly quiet as Bai Sheng's voice cut through the air. Her sharp glare bore in their very core, the stare of an angered mother.

"If you two are finished, then we can continue. You've interrupted my dinner with my son with this nonsense of yours! Now all of you sit down!"

Her voice grew a little stronger as each word came out a little bit icier than the last. By the last command, everyone showed slight dear before gathering to sit around the table, posturing themselves in a respectful manner.

Bai Sheng then let out a breath before looking at her son, whose eyes were glued at these visitors.

"Whoa."

Xiao Bai couldn't help but say this as he just looked at them. There was a bit of disbelief on his face as the young boy saw several famed people in front of him. It was then that his mother's eyes softened.

"Hah, so you are all here to ask me about her?" she asked.

Everyone nodded quietly.

"If that's the case, there is not much that I can tell you. It's only a few things but these are things that you must swear to me to never share with others. Or else, I will come after you", she said.

They all nodded once more before she turned to her son.

"Xiao Bai, why don't you go back into the mansion? Go visit your grandfather for a bit", she said to him.

"What? But I want to know too!" he protested, looking at her with large eyes.

"You're still a bit too young for this, you'll find out as you get older."

Bai Sheng looked at him, standing firm with her words.

"But... but... okay..."

Xiao Bai got out of his chair and walked out of the house with his head lowered in disappointment. The young boy turned back for just a moment before leaving. Once he was far enough, his mother finally addressed the main issue.

Ao Qin chuckled.

"As expected of the Tigress, still as fearsome as ever", he said.

"I'm no longer that person anymore, I'm merely a mother looking after her son."

Bai Sheng kept her distance whilst gazing at each of them.

"So all of you have come into contact with Ming Yue and by the looks of it, none of you are enemies. What is it that you came here for?" she asked.

Among them, it was Niu Hong who answered her.

"Now that we will soon have access to the other continents, we think that she might take this as a chance to return. As the White Lio had implied before, we know next to nothing about her and so, we wanted to know more. That is it, we aren't looking to hunt her down or fight her, we just want to know more", he explained.

"I see. If that's the case there isn't much that I can tell you", Bai Sheng responded, taking a sip from a cup of tea.

"When my son found her, she was covered in blood and dirt. Helping her recover, we shared a few things and what she told me was shocking. She had taken part in a war between humans and demons. It culminated in a massive battle with a god-like being that ultimately launched her into the Beast Continent. At this point, she does not know if the battle had ended in her victory or that of the demons."

The woman sighed.

"She's grown much stronger now and if she does plan on heading back home immediately, she might be planning for the worst", she said.

"If that's the case, won't activating the Teleportation Array just bring that sort of trouble to us?"

Qiang Rong looked to the others, seeing that they had also come to realize this.

"What do you mean what can we do? What is there to do? Now that we have one of the keys to the Teleportation Arrays, our path has already been set. The elders have already begun sending out orders. Not only are the Seekers being mobilized but even their private armies are receiving orders, they're going to bring out their full force to make sure nothing goes wrong", said Ao Qin. 2

The dragon-kin rubbed his chin as he spoke.

"In this matter, the worst-case scenario would be war, there is no question about it."
